My Brother Is Studying In Us With An F-1 Visa. He

I want to study in usa . can my brother who live there be my only supporter for the visa ?

To apply for a student visa, you must prove you have been accepted by a school/university in the US, and prove you have sufficient funds for all school + living expenses, plus your return transportation to your country of citizenship. A condition of issuing student visas is that you return to your country of citizenship. These are temporary NON-immigration class of visas. Having a brother in US constitutes "ties" to the US, which leads to a strong suspicion that you intend backdoor immigration or scam-migration. If your brother is supporting you, you have a major problem proving that you intend to return to your own country.

Besides, average cost of a 4-year bachelors degree in the US is $250,000. And foreign students have expenses which Americans do not. Your brother have that kind of money? And what's his status in the US? If he's a US citizen and earns enough to meet support requirements, then he can petition for your immigration.

I am planning to apply for US F1 visa but my brother is a permanent US resident. What are my chances of getting the visa?

Generally the immigration status of family members doesn’t have a strong effect on your chances of obtaining a visa. Just make sure that you are able to clearly demonstrate ties to your home country (do you have family there? will you maintain a house/apartment/residence while in the US? will you keep any property, such as a car, at home?).Also, make sure that you focus on your intent to study during your interview and don’t talk about how you just want to join your brother in the USA.

Does my brother having H1B visa status affects my student visa chance? I will be going to Umass Amherst for undergraduate studies.

No, it won't affect your chances of getting F1 Visa. However, the Visa officer may ask you questions about your brother and if everything's good then you can get the F1 Visa.I was in same situation but in a different position actually. I had H1 B Visa and my brother applied for F1 Visa. The VO did not ask him any questions about me (Surprisingly!) and he also got the Visa.

I am currently studying in the US with an F-1 visa, can a I-130 be filed on my behalf by my brother who is a US citizen?

Most likely, yes. However, be warned that a petition filed on behalf of the adult sibling of a US citizen is filed in family fourth preference. A petition filed today in family fourth preference will not become current, based on current best estimates and the present immigration law of the United States, until February 2027 (June 2027 if you were born in India, or sometime after 2040 if you were born in Mexico or the Philippines). Thus, in most cases, you will have a wait of approximately nine years before your green card could be approved. If you’re Mexican or Filipino by birth, there’s may not be much point in filing the petition; there is a good chance that you’ll die before it becomes current.Meanwhile, the fact that an immigrant petition has been filed on your behalf will make it harder to prove that you lack immigrant intent, which you are by law required to do every time you apply to renew your F-1 visa or use your F-1 visa to enter the United States. While it is not guaranteed that having a pending immigration petition in a priority class that is long-delayed will result in a consular officer or immigration officer concluding that you are inadmissible as a nonimmigrant for having present immigrant intent, there is a risk of this happening. If this does happen, you will not be able to continue your studies in the United States, as your F-1 visa will be cancelled and your right to reenter the United States revoked. As long as you do not depart the United States and remain in current F-1 status, however, your potential immigrant intent will not affect your right to remain in the United States.

I want to apply for my 13 year old brother's US visa?

As a foreigner yourself in the United States, you cannot petition for your brother's immigration.

He could go to school in the U.S., and for that he would need a student visa, the F-1. However, he can only attend a public school for up to 1 year total, and even that will cost him about $11,000 per year. He then would have to attend a private school, which will cost at least $15,000 per year, and he will have to prove that he has the money to pay for it when applying for the visa at the U.S. consulate in Saudi Arabia.

As aforementioned, once you naturalize as a U.S. citizen, you would not only lose your Saudi Arabia citizenship, but "exercising" (whatever the Saudis think that entails) another citizenship is a very serious crime for any citizen of Saudi Arabia. I don't have to tell you what they do to women who disobey the world of Allah. My guess is that you will therefore rather continue to live with a Green Card in the United States.

Can I publish a book in the US with an F1 student visa?

A publisher wants to publish my novel, but I haven't sign anything yet because I don't know if it's illegal, given the fact that I live in the US with a student visa.
The school officers told me that I couldn't work on-campus, but I would not be employed by the publishing house, I would just sell my material. Is that illegal? Do you recommend me to change my visa status?

F1 (Us student visa) and hunting licences and firearms (long guns) questions....?

I am going to be applying for a F1 visa to study at Houston university in Texas. I was thinking of applying for a Shotgun license (in the Uk) and shooting here as I'm not going to be applying for the Visa for about 6 months Or instead, can I buy Long guns for deer hunting etc while on a student visa (if possible) instead of getting a firearm here - which takes ages in the UK and then take it to the US with me which would obviously mean I would have to go through a long and drawn out transfer and registration scheme. Which I know you can do as people go on hunting trips etc.

So basically my question is can I get firearms for hunting in the US while on a J1 visa. Any other information would be great.

Thanks in advance.
