What are some interesting "caught by TTE/TC in Indian Railways" stories?

Hope you will enjoy. This happened when I was traveling from Howrah to Rajahmundry (a town in Andhra). As the trip was unplanned, I had no reserved ticket. Hence, I took one general ticket, went to the concerned platform and boarded the train (in sleeper class). Aftersometime the train started to depart and as usual a TTE came for checking. Nowthis is where the real story begins.Encountering 1st TTETTE: Ticket???ME: Sir, I am having General ticket because it’s suddenly planned.TTE: What should I do?(In Anger)ME: Sir, Please provide me a berth and in return I will pay fine.TTE: Okay, Sit here and I will come again to collect fine.(Took my ticket and wrote seat number and coach)Me with some sigh of relief, shifted to my allotted coach. After sometime the TTE came again.TTE: Is 27 yours??(27 is the berth allotted)ME: Yes Sir(without hesitation)TTE: Okay.I was waiting for him to ask the fine but thank god he didn’t (Don’t know the reason, maybe his memory is not that good or maybe he thinks that I am the original berth holder.)MISSION NO. 1 ACCOMPLISHED.After some odd hours the train crossed West Bengal and entered Orissa. As we all know that whenever the train switches States, the TTEs will also change.Encountering 2nd TTETTE: Ticket??ME: Here It is Sir.TTE: You are traveling in sleeper class with a general ticket. You must pay fine.Me: Sir, I already paid the fine and in return he (1st TTE) allotted me this berth.TTE: Oh, Is It? Then show me the challan???ME: Sir, He (1st TTE) told me to pay a fine of 900/- with challan and also gave me another option of paying 500/- without challan. Sir, like everybody I went on choosing later one. Hence, I have no challan with me.(with some innocence and presence of mind).TTE:Pcchhh…Because of these corrupt people our India is still a developing country. Okay, You sit down. (Went away scolding the 1st TTE)MISSION NO. 2 ACCOMPLISHED.After some more odd hours the train has entered Andhra Pradesh.Encountering 3rd TTECrtl C & Ctrl V of the previous encounter.AND FINALLY REACHED MY DESTINATION WITHOUT PAYING ANY KIND OF FINE.Thank You.

What to do about a really annoying roommate? ?

I am a college freshman and I made the mistake of doing random to get my roommate. I ended up with probably the most akward girl I have ever met. She is always in our room its like she never leaves. We have literally nothing in common. She is insanely messy and I am pretty neat. She just doesn't get up I swear she has skipped class more than gone to it. She stays up all night watching youtube videos and laughing at them with the sound turned up so loud I can hear it through her headphones. If she isn't watching creepy youtube videos then she is on her webcame which the way our room is set up faces my bed. I have a slight problem with having someone watching me while I sleep or even worse coming back from taking a shower and getting dressed. This is an everyday occurance too. I also paid $300 for a tv, she brought a dvd player but was supposed to bring a rug and didn't. Yet she is always watching tv on my tv which makes me mad b/c she didn't pull through on her part of the deal. And right now she is listening to music while I am watching tv which i was doing first. She will randomly stay up all night, two days ago she was up at 6 am doing laundry which woke me up and then other days like today she slept until 4 got up and then went to sleep at her desk. What can I do about this, we don't even talk my friends don't come hang out in my room b/c she is so weird no one wants to be around her. I love everyone else on my hall so I don't want to move(she doesn't talk to anyone on the hall she is slightly antisocial it seems like), and my RA is the only one who likes her and always tells me to hang out with her b/c "she is really fun". So if anyone has any advice I would love it!

What is the best way to take care of an elderly grandparent and what are some good resources to use when doing so?

First would, of course, be to be involved enough to observe what type of assistance might be needed. Everyone likes a generally clean home, but as a person ages and aches and pains creep in along with decreased range of motion and endurance, well, sometimes some chores don’t get done as often as should be. For instance, cleaning a toilet with a brush, wiping the rim and seat and flushing isn’t much, but cleaning the floor around and behind the commode may be too difficult. Mirrors, high dusting, spot-cleaning walls and door frames, these types of tasks may become too difficult to do on a regular basis. If that is the case, a once weekly or semi-monthly housekeeper might be a godsend.Perhaps cooking has become a chore, or the person has little skill in that area and has lost the cooking partner, in that case, a meal service would be welcomed.Transportation is a wonder- elders are usually on medication some of which can reduce reaction times; how nice to provide them with a way to get, not only where they need to go, but where they want to go.And then there’s the most important service of all, plain socializing. Seniors’ days can drag on and on- they can become very lonely, and having company helps. Being involved in groups such as those offered at Senior Centers and such really help.Where do you find what you need? Senior Centers, Uber, Lyft, meal service companies, CraigsList- all good places to start. Observe the senior with empathy, and you’ll see what is needed, easily.

Is it legal to record you without permission in your own home?

The correct answer is “it depends.”It depends on a few things:Who is doing the recordingWhat is being recorded (audio, video, or both)Where you are locatedFor bullet 1, if you are the homeowner, you are generally legally allowed to place cameras in common areas inside your own home and record any activities that go on inside your home. Note that you are generally prohibited from placing cameras in locations inside your home in which there is an expectation of privacy, such as a bedroom or bathroom. For bullet 2, you are generally allowed to record people in your own home. Some states have some old phone-based laws which governed the recording of audio between two callers which governed things like notification (which parties had to know that the call was being recorded), and some legal professionals believe these laws are still applicable to audio recordings made by surveillance cameras, and they may very well be. The law still needs to be modernized to catch up to the technology. For bullet 3, laws in some states vary with regard to what you can record and when, and what sort of notification must be made before someone enters an area which is under surveillance.
