My Cartilage Piercing Is Bleeding

Bleeding Cartilage piercing HELP!!!

you can't take it out cause it takes 3 months to a yr to fully heal it depends on the amount of cartilage.

* ealing Time 3 - 12 months, depending on the amount of cartilage pierced
* Do not touch your piercing with unwashed hands
* Do not let others touch it while it is healing
* Clean your healing piercing once a day only, using antibacterial soap
* Wash and dry your hair before piercing, and frequently thereafter
* Never use alcohol swabs, Betadine, hydrogen peroxide or tea tree oil to clean your piercing
* Pain, redness and unusual discharge may be due to infection. Consult your piercer or a physician if you develop any of these symptoms
* Take vitamin C and zinc to maximise your healing
* Wait till your piercing is healed before changing jewelry yourself

Daily Care Routine

* Do not touch your piercing unless you are cleaning it. Unwashed hands carry bacteria and your piercing is a point where these bacteria can penetrate below your skin and cause an infection.
* While healing, your piercing will need to be cleaned once daily.
* Cleaning more often than this will harm your piercing.
* You will need to use an antibacterial soap that contains either chloroxylenol or triclosan (e.g. Dettol Liquid Soap).

The step-by-step procedure is:

1. Wash your hands with antibacterial soap.
2. Wet the piercing with plain water.
3. Put a few drops of antibacterial soap on the piercing and work them into a lather with a cotton bud.
4. Try to loosen any crusted discharge and float it off the jewelry and your skin with the cotton bud.
5. Leave the antibacterial soap on the piercing for two minutes while rotating the jewelry back and forth, allowing the disinfectant to penetrate the piercing.
6. Rinse with water and air dry thoroughly. Do not dry with a towel, which may carry bacteria.

Why is my cartilage piercing bleeding?

It's normal for new piercings to bleed a bit - especially if you're sleeping on it (which you shouldn't) or if you accidentally knock it in your sleep.

Kelsey doesn't know what she is talking about...it's not infected. Infection means excessive redness, hot to the touch, and yellow/green pus with an odor. And if it was infected, taking it out would be a stupid move as it can trap the infection in your body.

No, do not put neosporin on your piercing...it's not meant for puncture wounds and is not good for your piercing. Just do the sea salt soaks and try to gently remove the dried blood. If it doesn't come off, leave it there and let it come off on its own.

Why is my cartilage piercing still bleeding?

I got my cartilage pierced April 12th and it's now June 3. Any clue why my piercing is still bleeding from time to time and when I touch it , there's some sort of liquid but not blood, also it still hurts when I twist the earring

Cartilage piercing bleeding. help?

Where you got your pierced it may have hit a blood vessel OR when you were sleeping you were sleeping on it caused it to bleed. Have your piercings been swelling at all or any of that? if it was just a one time thing then that may just be how your body reacted to the piercing ( mine always swell up like crazy as a reaction to it) yours may bleed a lot if it was irritated ( i.e. laying on it when you were sleeping) if it continues then there is probably something wrong and you should see a doctor before you decided to take it out or get any more piercings or repeirce it

My cartilage piercing is bleeding, please help?

I had my cartilage done professionally with a needle at a tattoo parlor last September. Today i went to get my hair cut, and the lady who was washing my hair accidentally hit my cartilage with the towel when she was drying my hair. I came home to find the back of it bleeding, and my ear is red. I cleaned it with sea salt, but its still bleeding. Is this a sign of infection? My cartilage always had crusties on it ever since i got it pierced. A few months ago I went back to the tattoo parlor to ask the guy if its infected, he just told me that its really irritated and that i shouldn't touch it. I was going to call them, but they closed at 8. So any advice would be nice. Is it normal for it to bleed after getting hit, or is this a sign of infection? Thank you in advance!

My cartilage piercing was bleeding this morning?

Yes, it is completely normal. I had mine done 2 years ago, and mine bled whenever i hit it on something or pulled on it by accident. If it bleeds, you should always take a cotton ball and get the blood off, so the blood doesnt dry and get hard all around the piercing. If it starts bleeding a lot, it might be infected, but dont worry. Just contact the piercing parlor you got it at and ask. :)

How do I treat a bleeding cartilage piercing?

Bleeding cartledge piercings can be painful. I would recommend salt water to clean your piercing. Alot of these“cleaning aids” have never worked for me personally but I have very sensitive skin. Everyone heals differently and not everyone can wear the same kinds of jewlrey. I find myself repeating that alot because people don't do their homework and some figure they can just wear anything. Not true..do your homework. Your jewlrey can be the whole reason your piercing is bleeding, sore or just don't seem to want to heal. If its bleeding Alot, take out the jewelry and let it heal, Your piercer may have hit a vein. Its easier just to pierce it again at a later date. If it only seems crusty, with dry blood. Could mean you slept on it or hooked it somehow. Just keep it clean and it should be ok. A cartledge piercing can take up to a year to heal or longer if you have trouble with it. I hope this helps…Good luck.

What should I do about my cartilage piercing? It started bleeding and there is pus coming out of it but it doesn’t hurt, there is also a bump on the back. (I would like to treat it at home)

You can make a solution of salt water and savlon or dettol, remove the piercing for a few minutes and place it within this solution. then take a sterilised sowing needle dipped in the solution and pass it through the piercing hole cleaning it and cleaning the area with a earbud soaked in the solution and then placing the piercing back. if its a newish piercing go back to the pierce artist that inserted the piercing and ask their opinion as they have seen all kinds of conditions.

Should my cartilage piercing start bleeding when I change it from a stud to a hoop?

I got my cartilage pierced at Claire's in July and I actually had a problem with it in September when I woke up one morning and the stud went into my ear and made a giant hole next to my piercing. As of right now, that's officially healing, but it always caused problems with my piercing. I've taken my piercing out for a week now (I poke an earring through it every morning to make sure the hole is stole there) just so the hole from September will heal properly for once after all this time. But because it's been so long, I wanted to change my earring to a hoop so I wouldn't have to deal with this anymore and it would finally heal. I tried putting in a 16 gage hoop, but the cartilage piercing itself started bleeding this time.

Every time my cartilage has bleed it was from the hole next to the earring that was from the stud in September. I've never had the piercing itself bleed, until I tried the hoop. Should it be bleeding? Can I never put a hoop in? Or is it normal?

What do I do if my cartilage piercing is bleeding? I’m not totally sure if it’s infected. I got it downsized a couple of months ago, so I figured the bleeding would be done and over with.

Does it look really red and swollen? Is it throbbing? If so I would go to the hospital and have them take a look. If your piercing isn't red or swollen but its throbbing or hurting maybe even bleeding I believe thats normal. Piercing's like that especially in the upper ear take some time to heal and if your piercing is bleeding I wouldn't take that as cause for alarm, you could have unknowingly bumped it. If its still bleeding after a couple days I would go to the emergency room and have them look at it.
