Should I make my daughter wear shorts ?
My 11 year old daughter refuses to wear shorts in the hot weather. she insists on wearing long pants & jeans in the Hot weather. All of her girlfriends & sister wear shorts all the time in the Hot weather. They are constanly asking her how she can stand to wear pants all the time in the hot weather. I Picked her up after school after my work on Friday and I noticed like all the other kids are all wearing shorts to school but her. the AC in the car was broke on the ride home I had long pants on too and I was starting to get very hot and feel very uncomfortable. I told my Daughter how can you stand wearing pants all the time and I can't wait to get home and put on some shorts. When We got home I changed into my shorts. and an hour later i'm making dinner and my daughter tells me "MOM it's so hot out and I'm hot and my legs are stickying to my jeans. I told her well if you start wearing shorts you won't have that problem and you won't be hot anymore. she say's she doesn't want to wear shorts because she'll feel naked and like people will be staring at her legs etc.. My daughter is not overweight, I told her why should they stare at your legs ? you have got nice legs. she then said i just don't want to wear shorts. Today Me and both of my daughters stoped at Kohls they had a good sale on shorts, Me & my 13 year old daughter started picking out some new pairs of shorts . I then told my 11 year old Daughter to pick out some shorts out too for herself, but she refused even to look at that them. I yelled at her and said you can't keep wearing pants all the time in this heat. well she went back to the car. I looked at the 6 pairs of shorts that my older daughter picked out and they were cute I told her to go back to the shorts racks and get the same 6 pairs for her sister. Ok today it's very Hot & steamy ,it's like 90 degress out. Again my Daughter tells me again in her cranky voice "MOM it's so Hot out, I'm Hot and sweaty, my jeans are sticking to my thighs. I then said. well I'm wearing shorts and i'm not hot, my older daughter thinks I should make her start wearing shorts too. ? should I ?
Dilema with my daughter ?
I'm sorry, but refusing to make one or two extra stops to accommodate your child who has a legitimate bladder condition -- but could still make it without wetting if you stopped more frequently -- is just cruel. If she were prone to wetting suddenly and uncontrollably (without any advance warning) that would be one thing -- but if she would be able to make it to the bathroom, but for your refusal to stop often enough... then for crying out loud, STOP! It is an absolutely horrible feeling to lose control of one's bladder slowly and painfully because you are denied access to the bathroom (which is what you are doing to her by not stopping the car). Stop the car, and start to value your daughter -- who feels worse about this than anyone! -- more than you value your physical possessions or worse, saving a 10-15 minutes (at the most) out of a 4 hour trip.

Good for you for raising her by yourself. I know it must be hard. Anyway, you are gonna have to get used to it. She has reached that age where she doesn't want pantylines showing through her pants. It's a teenage thing. Don't worry about it. And good luck.

I've made some mistakes in my life. I had my daughter when I was 17. I'm only 34 so I'm still young and learning. My daughter is 17. When she approached me last year about going out with Daniel, I was somewhat against it because of the age difference. She was 16 and he was 18. I knew that she would just lie and sneak around behind my back if I had forbidden it, so I allowed them to date. Then my daughter was in an awful car accident on the way home from a ballet concert in Chicago. Her car was struck by a drunk driver going 90 mph. They had to remove her from the accident with the jaws of life and barely survived in the hospital. The accident shattered her spine and her left leg had to be amputated. Despite my daughter's confinement in a wheelchair, Daniel stayed with her, helping her adjust to her new life. Unfortunately, my daughter stopped having sex with Daniel, and as a man, he had needs that someone had to fulfill. As I grew to know Daniel, my feelings toward him started to change. Rather than looking at him as my daughter's boyfriend, I started seeing him as being a dating prospect for myself. I started wearing miniskirts, short shorts, and bikinis around the house whenever he came to visit my daughter. His feelings changed too and we started having sex everyday. There were a couple times that my daughter almost caught us. My daughter has no idea that me and her boyfriend have been having sex. Daniel is no longer interested in her and says she has become a burden to our sex life. I want to be with Daniel. At 19, he's extremely mature, sexy, talented, and he makes good money. I just found out that I'm pregnant with Daniel's baby. He is very excited and so am I. Now, how do I tell my daughter I'm pregnant with her boyfriend without hurting her? Do I kick her out of the house? I don't know what to do. Please help.

I am sure you have checked her mouth and throat. Is she coughing at all? Check for little bits of it in her mouth. If she is breathing and eating fine, I would watch her stools. Put your ear on her chest and listen to her breathe. If it sounds clear, I would just keep a close eye on her tonight and if anything happens call your hospital's emergency room. If it were me, I would check on her every couple hours tonight. Call your pedi in the morning and see what he/she suggests. Can you call his answering service? As long as she is breathing fine and not coughing or sound like she is having trouble breathing, I am sure she is probably going to be fine. With my son, even when it was hot, I put pants on him after shots till we got home. I hope everything works out okay.
