My Dog Bit My Albuterol Inhaler . Acting Strange . Will He Be Ok

My 5 month old puppy got electrocuted?

PLEASE READ BEFORE ANSWERING!!!!!!
I have a 5 month old terrier mix and yesterday I went outside to feed him and I saw him breathing really heavy and a swollen like thing on the left part of his lip and his right eye was a little shut. So I took him to the emergency room (emergency vet) and they quickly got him and put him in a box with 100% oxygen. And they said he had probably gotten electrocuted and they started giving me estimates of what it would cost to cure him. It costed $2000-4000 and weren't sure if he would even make it so I said no and I brought him home. That was yesterday night and they told me they thought he wouldn't make it through the night but he did and today in the morning he pooped diarrhea and threw up yesterday's food. He doesn't want to eat or drink anything, I gave him 1 tablespoon of water by opening his mouth and putting it in there but I am afraid that it is going to his lungs cause he coughs after I do that. So my question was what can I do about this, how can I give him food and water. And in the vet the said they can give him fluids but it costs $178 and I cant pay that. What do I do?

My puppy suffered albuterol toxicity.. ?

Was he like this before he got into your inhaler? Puppies are normally silly and like to chew everything and anything, some are more destructive than others. My puppy likes to chase his tail but chewing on his paw is a bit different.

What do you mean when you say is is unresponsive at puppy classes? How many have you attended and are you following up the classes with practice at home?

Some breeds are harder to train than others. I have never had a beagle but there are alot of beagle questions on Y!A re. their behaviour and barking, etc. I believe that they do have a 1 track mind. Their also tends to be alot of dachshund questions as well. Maybe this wasn't good breeds to be mixed together.

I guess that you need to talk to your vet if you have serious concerns that there is a mental problem with him. Perhaps they can refer you to someone who may be able to help out.

As far as the destructive behaviour is concerned it would be best, when he is not being supervised, to confine him in an area where he can't do major damage. The other thing is to distract his chewing on the wrong thing by giving him a chew toy. My 5 month old puppy has his favourite toys and he especially likes squeaky ones.

All the best in your struggles.

PS> He is very cute.

Albuterol overdose?

taking too much albuterol can affect your body - had my daughter catching invisible butterflies in the living room at 3am. If your doctor is not in the office today - and they don't have an on-call doc that can see you - then go to the ER. Take all the medicines you are currently using with you and be honest about the amounts/times you have taken them. Rescue inhalers do not control asthma - you need a good regimen of daily meds and a rescue inhaler for emergency episodes only. I'm not fussing at you - I'm concerned for you. Ask your doc to help you evaluate what triggers you have - eliminate as many as you can from your home. We had to pull up the carpeting and go to hardwood floors, encase all the mattresses and pillows and we do not allow the dogs in any of the bedrooms. Pollen is a trigger for our daughter too (it's a new one) so we're going to have to be careful about outdoor time in spring and fall. You need to see an asthma specialist at least every six months and if you are having frequent attacks you should alert the doc as you may need to be seen immediately. With good maintenance meds, elimination of as many triggers as possible, and regular communication with the doc you should be able to get the asthma under control. Best of luck
