My Father Says That I

A father said to his son, “I was old as you now at the time of your birth.” If the father's age is 38 years now, what is the son's age five years back?

When it comes to riddles like this, especially about age, Alegbra is really useful. The hard part is translating the word riddle into numbers.Let’s have the son’s current age equals X.Father tells the son now that “I was as old as you now at the time of your birth.” So X years back, when the son was born, the father was X years old.Hence the father is now X + X = 2X years old.As given, 2X = 38So X = 19.Since the son is now 19 years old, 5 years back, he was 19–5 = 14 years old.

What if your dad says he hates you?

He can go straight to hell.No father should tell their kid he hates them. He can say he hates what they did. But if he tells them he hates them and means it, then he’s a poor father.

My dad says I eat too much?

as a father he could have restated that comment
because what he said was a little rude.
tell him that what he is saying hurts you
if he doesn't listen
tell your mom
he probably is unintentionally hurting you because he doesnt want to see you overweight again.

What do I say when my father says that I (25 year old female) am a burden, and I must get married even when I'm taking care of my own expenses?

Your father is just sense-less (sorry but I am not). How can a father even say such words to a daughter, who is taking care of herself with her own expenses? This outrightly boils the blood in me on such Parents, who treat their daughters as a burden, while their sons as assets.A Father has to be a role model to his daughter(s) and guide them to lead a better life ahead. Marriage is not a mandatory event for a daughter, but providing a path to succeed in her life as an individual, is a very important responsibility of a Father. If the Father forgets this and treats his daughter as a burden, he isn’t worthy. You can always choose to stay separate from such Parents. All the best.

My father said, "Be it whether I'm right or wrong, I am your father. And I deserve your respect." Is he right?

No, he is wrong.Respect needs to be earned, not demanded. If he doesn't respect you, you don't have to do it either. However, I believe that whether you respect someone or not, you can and should still be respectful in your interaction with them. That's not because they deserve respect. That's because you deserve respect and your action says who you are.But again, if someone thinks he can demand respect even when he is wrong, then I agree that person doesn't deserve my respect (but I'll still be a respectful person I always am).

My father says that I am good for nothing. He uses abusive language with me and my sister. It is painful. What am I supposed to do?

Every man has a heart. Sure your father does have one too. First, he enrolled yourself into an engineering college, means he feels you are his responsibility. If that was not the case, he would not have decided to spend lacks of rupees every year on you. Think of it. His nature has surely brought you pain and intolerance, but in the end, he is your father. Please talk to him, tell him what you feel. Request him not to use abusive language and be humble and polite to you and your sister. My father too, was once, a high-tempered person and we used to have lot of arguments on silly stupid things. But I always tried to be the calmer one, and it worked. When I made him understand how I feel, not one but many times, he understood, and now we hardly have any argument (at least not on silly things). Time is the most powerful thing. It teaches us everything. Someday, it might teach your father too about his non-acceptable behavior and you may be surprised to see changes in him the next day. But till then, try to do what time may do in future. Talk to him. He may abuse you again for that, so what? That's not the first time he did that, but try that it's the last time. Don't give up on your father. He is your father, and few years later when he grows old, all that he will aspire for is your love and your support. He has always supported you your entire life, now you support him. And please don't be scared of him, he is your father. No son/daughter should be afraid of his/her father. And lastly, make him proud. Try to do something BIG in your life. May be that thing changes your's and everyone else's life in your family. You are lucky to have a father. Not everyone is privileged with that. Now smile and hug your father, he won't hurt you for that. Tell him that you'll try to be good and soon you'll live upto his expectations. Hug him hard. It's a damn special feeling. I promise. :)

How can I convince my father to let me buy a BMW?

I am a 17 year old who has recently obtained a paid internship, so my parents are letting me buy my first car soon. I want to buy a BMW 3 series convertible from the mid-to-late 2000's in the $6,000-8,000 range, but my dad says that they are unreliable and that I only want one for status. He says that I should opt for a more reliable and conservative option such as a Honda or Toyota. What can I do to convince him to let me buy a BMW?

My dad says that I'm ugly?

My mom is pregnant, and my dad told her don't look at ugly things like your daughter, so that you don't get an ugly baby, and he was serious while saying it.
My heart is broken right now, been crying since ever, I feel like commiting suicide, if my dad doesn't think I'm beautiful, who's going to think that I am?? Maybe this is not a question but I just want it to let my emotions out because it hurts a lot because I was all dressed up today, I thought I was looking great! I wish I could die
