My Internet Gets Lost When I Turn On My Pc

How do I turn on wireless internet on my laptop?

There should be a switch on the side slide it back. You may see a light go on signaling that you turned it on. If you still can not find the switch locate the serial # on you laptop and enter on gateway's site it will let you see your manual specific to your laptop and can help you locate the switch (It will also show you how to find your S/N)

You may also want to go to Start->Connect to>Show all connections>Make sure your wireless connection is enabled by right clicking and choosing enable (If disabled)

Good Luck !

Why is my internet really slow all of the sudden?

This is a bit vague. If you are talking about your specific Internet connection to your home, then Alejandro’s answer is good.If we are talking about the Internet as a whole, this is a different discussion entirely. The Internet can be slowed down by a number of factors. I think the big 3 factors are as follows:Internet InfrastructureGeographic DistancesNetwork CongestionThe first one, Internet infrastructure is a difficult one. This involves Internet exchange points and Border Gateway Protocol. Both are being adapted through backbone technologies. The main driver is software defined networks (SDNs).The second, geographic distances, means how long it takes things to travel over a given distance. The speed of light is the limiting factor for data communications. If you are transferring from California to New York, this will not take nearly as long as from California to India. CDNs help to try and solve this problem. The last is network congestion. When there is too much traffic at once over a particular Internet route, things come to a halt. This is like if you get into a traffic jam in your car. It is terrible because sometimes it is unpredictable. It will happen during Black Friday Sales, or the Super Bowl. Or simply during prime time for Netflix. There are many other causes but here are 3 to get you started.

Why does turning my NAT off disconnect me from the internet?

Sounds like your computer is using a private IP address (like a 192.168.x.x type address). To put it short, if you have this type of address, and you turn NAT off, you will definitely not be able to get to the internet at all.

In order to change the NAT to 'open' instead of 'strict', you will need to open / forward some ports in your router. Xbox Live uses UDP port 88, TCP port 3074, and UDP port 3074. You will also need to specify the IP address of your Xbox when you are opening these ports. After that, the NAT should show as 'open' in your Xbox.

My internet connection gets slower the longer I am logged in - why?

Wow. that's hard to troubleshoot.

Try to check your HD size and see if it is getting full.
Check your Internet Explorer cache size and see if you can increase the size.
Try shutting down your router/modem for 5-10 minutes, turn it back on and see if that helps.

If none of these help, there might be some spyware/malware on your PC, try going to this website: http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

Other than that, there may be something different going on but that's all I can think of right now.

My ETHERNET connection gets slower as I continue to use it?

First off, I don't want any answers relating to DSL or dial up crap, I don't have that. I'm using a CAT6 ethernet cable connected to my Netgear N600 Wireless Dual Gigabit router, and this is how it happened. One night I was searching on youtube, god tired, turned off the computer and fell asleep, and the next day when I come home from school, My internet gets extremely slow, this was a few months ago, and now after some virus scanning and cleaning, it seemed to fix it, but now it's like mt internet is playing tricks on me to where When I first start google chrome, or any other internet browser, It runs fast, but after 20 minutes or so it slows down, and then to the point where it just gets stuck loading for as long as it can. The only solution is to restart my computer, but it'll still do the same thing: start off fast, and slow down as I contine to use it. I have Windows XP Professional. (yes I still use it). Parents keep telling me its a virus, but after countless times of scanning and cleaning, it hasn't really done anything at all. I also tried it on my other user accounts, and still no good. I need a fix, PLEASE. It also say that it's connected 100mbps, but it's still slow. Sometimes, actually like right now, I'm getting 782,000 packets sent, and then I get 1,000,000 received? How do get more from less? Also Ive done the "unplug router wait 30 secs" thing, thats not the problem since it's only coming from my computer, and everything else is fine. Also I can tell its not the cable since I tested it on my laptop's ethernet port and it works fine. The port on my desktop is fine too, so Its not that. My network adapter is a Nvidia Nforce Networking controller, if that helps. I have power saving off on the adapter, so it doesnt turn off after a given time. And disabling and re-enabling the local area connection doesn;t fix it, it still goes fast and then slow after a while. Keep in mind that one day it was working and the next day it wasn't. I hadn't downloaded anything or made changes to anything on my internet connection on the day it was working, so I don't know what the problem is.
Also, its only on my computer, everything else is fine. And so you don't waste an answer, my computer can only go up to 100mbps on internet speed.

Internet cuts out every night at same time.?

Wow, that last dude is an idiot!

Cox does not reset your modem on a 'schedule'. The only reason a modem would reset is if the signal or modem is having issues. What you need to do is a little troubleshooting yourself first. Check connections, make sure coax is connected securely on both ends, at wall and at modem and if there is a splitter, temporarily bypass it at least for a day or so. And of course all the other connections, power and ethernet. If those are fine, then call them and let them know that you've done some troubleshooting. They have a tool that allows them to look at the signal levels to your modem. It looks at it every hour and keeps a log of the levels, whether they be too high, too low or right on point. The majority of Cox networks use a tool called Edgehealth or Home Cert. Edgehealth is much better because it shows every hour. Home Cert just takes a poll right when they open the tool. However with Home Cert they can schedule the program to look at your levels at a certain time of day for say a week or so. So if they see that it keeps resetting, then they can send someone out there to help you. The best thing to do is do the steps I suggested, if it doesn't fix it, then call them and tell the you've done the steps and let them go through some things with you. They are trained in figuring things out, however unfortunately there are dumbasses who don't care and wont take the time to figure it out. If you get someone like that, you can either ask for someone else or a supervisor. I will say this, the more polite you are the more polite the other person will be. If you cuss and get pissed off, they are less willing to help. No one likes getting cussed at. If you suggest the tools I told you about and they act stupid, then ask for someone else. Techs are required to use at least one of these tools on every internet call. Hope this helps.

What happen if I loss my internet connection for couple of minutes when I am downloading a big game from PSN to PS4? I have to download the whole game again from the beginning?

First off, thanks for the A2A!Now, secondly, this has happened to me, twice. I know, lucky. Anywho, this has happened to me during downloading a COD. It had around 15 minutes left. And then my electric goes. Now when that goes your internet will usually take a bit of time to come back online. But back to the story. 15 minutes left and it goes. This had took a few hours and I was really mad. However when it came back. I was expecting to see around 6–7 hours, (I can't remember how long), but I only seen half an hour. I was really happy, confused, but happy. Basically, it saves what part of the application has already been downloaded, so for example. If your internet goes, then it would've already saved. There is a little feature where it cuts it too what it needs. Basically, if you're downloading, a 15.00 GB game, and it cuts out when you're on 14.5 GB, then it will only show it needs 500 MB (0.5 GB).Hope this is what you asked for! Have a good day. :)

How do I get my data back when I accidentally turned off my PC while updating it? I lost all my data and also Windows 10 too.

You might have lost win10 , but how are you sure about your data.?Win10 might not boot to desktop if update is stopped in between. Most likely win10 update should start again as soon as you start the pc again. If that is not happening, see rollback option in advance setting.Or try system restore to earlier point etc.Now as you are more worried about data, I am sure your data is there if you had not formatted your drives. To access your drives without win10, there are many options.1- make a bootable usb installer of Linux such as Ubuntu . This installer will boot your pc from usb and can give you access to your entries hard drive, only issue is if you have any encryption on hard drive then this work work.2- you can reinstall win10 without formatting.3- win10 can be booted from usb as a PE , google it.4- connect your hard drive to another working computer as a slave drive. Then you can access your files in that computer.Easy way will be option 1 & 2, but for any option you need another computer to make your tools ready.
