My Kitten Is Always Stuck On Play Mode

Do cats understand when to retract their claws when interacting with humans?

Allow me to introduce you to Jasper.Jasper is a Tijuana rescue kittie. He is my little meow-migo as I call him.Jasper doesn’t really like anyone other than me. He hasn’t since he was a kitten. For whatever reason this cat adores me.When I come home, he knows the sound my horn makes when I’m locking the car up and he waits for me at the door. Every single day. He likes to hang out on top of our armoire and whenever I walk by he meows loudly so I will reach up and pet him.Jasper also loves to play rough with me. Almost like a dog. I will form my hand into a muppet like snake shape and slither around him slapping my four fingers to my thumb as if you were making a sock puppet talk. Each time my hand closes I make a clicking sound with my mouth so he thinks it’s going to get him.Ok, f*** it. We call it Mr. Lobster fingers. There, I said it. My wife has turned me into a cat person… ugh.Anyway, this drives Jasper crazy (in a good way) and he will play very roughly with me. When he actually catches Mr. Lobster fingers he will use his claws to make sure that I can’t escape and he will bite the shit out of me. He will never break the skin. He will hold me in his mouth and if I move his claws will go a little deeper and his bite just a little bit harder. Then he will do that bunny kick thing cats do to really let me have it except no claws will be used. When I am ready to be done I just put my face down to him and give him a kiss. The second I do his claws retract and he goes into love mode. Now I have had Jasper in my arms when he has gotten scared and didn’t have control of himself. I know those claws can be deadly if he wants them to be. Thankfully, he knows too.

My kitten is always stuck on play mode?

When she attacks your hands or feet keep a wand toy handy to redirect her attention.
Also a good 15 min. play session or 2 with the wand toy helps to wear down their energy (it's also good bonding). Try to get her running and jumping as much as you can in a short amount of time. Keep other things around to distract her like crumpled up pieces of paper, balls, and grocery bags with the handles cut off. You can also get a toy that's about her size for her to wrestle instead of you.

Spray bottles don't work because they don't understand that they're being punished, they only understand that you're being scary. Just saying NO and moving her away when she gets too aggressive and then providing a "yes" by redirecting her attention to a toy should work fine. Be patient with her... it may take a long time before she'll totally back off biting/scratching because kittens are super playful. Just make sure you're teaching her to not be too aggressive.

As for making her more affectionate, it sounds like all the play fighting created a hectic environment for her. Put your foot down and tell your bf to back off the play fighting because she'll only learn bad habits/she's not a dog. She needs to learn that she can be calm around humans and not be terrorized by them.
Let her warm up to you on her own. It will only work against you if you try to force anything. She'll come around. Maybe see if she'll take a treat from the palm of your hand to rebuild some trust.

Does my cat know that I control the laser pointer? Do they know but just don't care because it's fun to "play the game"?

Yes.  At least my female cat does (the older male cat couldn't give two-shits about the laser pointer, and the younger male only sometimes cares about it).  How do I know this?  Three ways:When I jingle the laser pointer, in contrast to the jingle of my keys, change or other jingly object, my cat comes running to me, not to the typical "staring point" where the mysterious red dot appears on the carpeting. When the "mysterious red dot that must be attacked at all costs" suddenly disappears, my little kitty doesn't look for it (like she does when she loses her 248,000 various mouse toys--where they go, I have no clue).  No.  She stops, looks at me and does this mixed purr-growl-chirp noise (that I find totally adorable).  If I don't start again soon, she runs up to me making the same noise and doesn't stop until I start again. She knows that I keep the "maker of the mysterious red dot thingie" in a dish on a shelf.  She knows this and frequently runs to that shelf, or sits on the kitchen table near that shelf making really cute purr-growl-chirp noises at it until I, or my boyfriend, give in and engage her for a few minutes until one of us gets bored (and, it's usually us).

Why does my cat rip apart plastic bags?

Why does my cat rip apart plastic bags? She doesn't eat the plastic that she rips up. In fact, she will work as long as she has to, to remove any of the plastic bag that sticks to her mouth.

99% of the time it's grocery bags. She will rip it into little strips, until the thing is shredded, purring the entire time. It seems harmless, just noisy. The only thing that bothers me is when she can't find an empty one and goes after one that still has things in it. LOL She seems to have such a good time doing it that I have no problem cleaning it up once she is done.

She doesn't do this all the time. She will work on one bag for a day or two and lose interest in it completely. A few days later she will go looking for a new one. I have since moved the container that holds my used bags out of her reach, so that she doesn't have 50 of them all over the house. She will wait until I get home from the store and take one as I am unpacking them.

I just don't understand why she likes to do this. My other cats that I have had never did anything like this. Any ideas?

I kicked my cat really hard by mistake :( internal bleeding ?

ok so I was playing with my cat his favourite game hide and seek where I run and hide and call his name
but I don t know why he ran with me between my legs and I accidentally kicked him and he slammed the wall :(
he is acting fine and still playing
how can I know if I damaged anything

My neighbors killed my CAT. I overheard them when I went to their door at 11pm.?

Everyday they refuse to talk and glare at me with full guilt.
My cat was an Orphan wildcat. It was starving & limping when she found our family. We adopted her and she fell in love with us vice versa.
Man my kids cry about it. I know I can't bring her back so I'm stuck in revenge mode. She was a rare cat, a rare rare cat with the brains of a human being. She knew how to love, respect, 100% litterbox clean, loved to bath "HOW MANY CATS LOVE TO BATH?", she protected my 3 year old from anything ", even guards my 3 months old, she would jump into protective mode when sounds come from windows, she watches t.v, she did everything we've ever wanted in a cat, she lvoed to be 100% clean and not just clean.

Man I am so mad. So angry, I am going to go see a mental doctor before my revenge hungry mind explodes & things happen.
I am so in need of a doctor. I feel like I lost a family member. I lost my little girl.
I know it's just a cat but guys, seriously. I am hurt. I spent a lot of time with her and she kept me company whenever I took trash out, cleaned my car and so so. She follows me around like a dog. It so not cat-like. My wife wants justice and my kids want her back. I can't give the cat back or any justice that would work. Today the neighbors were laughing down stairs when they were smoking. I heard one of them mention CAT. I nearly blew up. What do you guys think...about this injustice. They got away right? It's just a cat int he eyes of the law right? What proof do I got right? They simply would deny it.

Ok I'm moving next month for their sake.
