My Kuhli Loach Is Hiding

My kuhli loach looks pale?

I am not so familiar with these type of loach but through researches that i have done before i heard that they can make the background of their body color turn into a pale yellow or pink. I also heard that it's also a sign that something's wrong with it and it's getting sick, i would stay away from salt because loaches hate salt and it stress the out and can also kill them (just like worms and snails hate salt).

That's about all i know about these fish since i actually never had them but been around people who raised them. Take care good luck wish you the best.

Kuhli loaches swimming all over?

Your kuhli loaches are probably enjoying their new clean water. The fact that they were hiding all the time was a sign of distress. If your tank wasn't overstocked, I would tell you to get another kuhli loach or two, since they do much better in larger groups.
I have five black kuhli loaches and two banded kuhli loaches in a 30 gallon community, and they are almost always swimming around the tank. When they aren't swimming, they're draped over the leaves of the plastic plants. When I only had three kuhlis, they weren't nearly as active.

Kuhli Loach and Beta?

I have a 10 gallon tank. I'll be heading to aquarium shops tomorrow to get some live plants (i have plastic for the time being). The bottom of the tank is medium 'river pebbles'. Currently there are no hiding places but i'll also be buying some stone and wood hides with the plants. A crown tail male beta and a female gold pristella tetra are the only fish in my tank. The filtration is for a 10-15 gallon and i've got the lip (where water pours out) 1/2 inch above the water surface with plastic plants leaves to have the water trickle down (reduces water movement for beta).

1. Would a kuhli loach like this tank?
2.if so how many would i need to get?
3. If not is there any way to make this more suitable for them?

Thank you, and if you don't know anything about this topic please don't Google my question and give me the first thing that pops up. I already can do that on my own. Please, only people who have any experience with aquatics.

Is two Kuhli Loaches enough?

They will be MUCH more settled, braver and playful in a bigger group. I would try for at least 5 if you have the space. Their whole nature changes completely as you get them into a decent group.

Adult size is about 4" long, but because they are so skinny they don't need as much space as a normal shape 4" long fish. Maybe allow about 2 gal of your tank space per adult kuhli?

Sinking shrimp pellets are a good stable diet for them, but you can give them treats like bloodworms, or bits of raw shrimp as well. They will also forage for left over food and edible things in the tank .

They tend to be bottom dwelling, but like I said, in a larger group you will see them more. Chasing each other around the bottom, in and out of ornaments and digging for food. So the larger group and some time to settle in will help. They really are a fun fish to watch, even if it's only around the bottom of the tank. At least yours are eating, so they won't starve, but you wont see them much if there are only 2 in the tank.

Can't Find Black Khuli Loach?

That is 100% normal. Kuhli loaches have a knack for hiding, even when it seems like you've checked all possible hiding spots....its not uncommon in a tank with one or few kuhlis, to not see them for months. I wouldn't assume that he's dead, just that he's a great hider. The only way to increase your chances of seeing them is to give them a larger school. Instead of two, maybe consider 5. They are more likely to be active, out and about, because they feel safer. But of course, consider if you have enough room in your 20 gallon, since you already have a lot of fish already.

Should I have seen my kuhli loaches by now?

I have had 6 kuhli loaches for over 48 hours and I haven't seen any sign of them not even at night. After the lights had been off for over 4 hours I still didn't see any sign of them. How can I feed them if I can't see them? Will they starve? Could it be that they don't like the temperature? It's been at 23.6 degrees c since I set up the tank. my last question said the readings of the tests but I need to know I dot want them to die. Could they have been eaten by my danio?

Will my silver dollars eat my coolie (kuhli) loaches?

I have 5 red hooked silver dollars in a 75 gallon tank along with 16 red eyed tetras, 7 zebra danios, 5 corydoras, 10 neon tetras, and 3 tinfoil barbs. I want to get a few coolie loaches but the ones at the pet store are tiny, about 1 1/2 inches long. I know silver dollars are herbivores, but i sometimes put worms in there and they nibble at them, and im worried they might try to eat these guys. will they? should i look for bigger ones? thanks
