My Left Hand Is Hurting So Much But I Haven

My hand hurts? Well my palm...?

Im 16, and the palm of my hand hurts by my thumb, well i call it your chicken drumstick becasue if you look at your thumb being the bone and there's that muscle that follows it down onto your palm, I don't do too much typing, but i'm left handed and its the left hand that hurts. I haven't done anything obvious to hurt it or anything and i've had the pain before, well a few times but not like "once a day" or whatnot.
Also, not sure if this is related but half way between your wrist and your elbow, on the inside, i've got a twinging pain there too!
I've heard of Carpel Tunnel but isn't that syndrome usually in older people (50+?)
Anyhelp as to what this mysterious pain is will be muchly appreciated!!

Is it normal for my hand to hurt while playing guitar?

It’s “normal” in the sense that any repetitive motion can cause pain. But it’s not good, and you should probably modify your playing technique and/or hand position to stop it - before you wind up with something that plagues you for life and potentially limits your ability to improve and achieve your goals. My guess (and this is ONLY a guess - I’m not a doctor nor am I an expert on hand physiology) is right now you’re getting some muscle cramping/fatigue there - so the usual routine to correct that is 1) Stretching and warm-up before a long practice 2) Exercises specific to that part of the hand to strengthen either the affected muscles or those around them and 3) RELAX. That big muscle is prone to gather stress - directly or indirectly. Your guitar should be set up to play as easily as possible - and once that’s accomplished it takes very little pressure from your thumb to sound/fret notes correctly. My beginning students always want to grab the neck like a baseball bat - totally unnecessary. Also watch for “shoulder creep” - that’s where you keep gathering tension in your (usually) left shoulder - it will actually raise during your practice - and that tension will impact everything on your left side. My classical teacher in college pointed out that I was doing that - I had no clue - but once I realized it - easily fixed. And finally - RAISE THE GUITAR. If you’re one of the kids who thinks correct guitar position is having it hang at your knees so your wrists are as bent as possible - stop it. Study classical players - THAT is correct hand position. It doesn’t look cool (at all) but it also doesn’t lead to repetitive stress injury. There are tons of classical hand position videos on YouTube - check them out and adapt what you’re doing. Hope this helps.EDIT: PS — if that red spot below your first finger is also from practicing, then my ‘baseball bat’ comment goes double. You should be playing more on the tips of your fingers with little/no contact with the neck in that spot on your hand. If you post some pics of you in standing and sitting positions actually playing I can give you better input - have someone take them from the front/back/ sides.

How do I prevent my hand from hurting everytime I try to draw or sketch?

You could use an artist's bridge like these: Artist Leaning Bridges - Hand Wrist Rest For Painting, Drawing & Sketching you could probably use something like a rolled up pair of socks to prop your wrist up to see if the change in wrist elevation eases the strain on your hand. You should try holding your drawing tool in a different way, to try and take the pressure off your ligaments, you maybe holding your pencil too tight when you concentrate, try holding it loosely. You can also swap hands, it doesn't take long to train your other hand, as someone else has mentioned.Use an easel with your arm outstretched, so you are far away from your drawing, this makes you draw from the shoulder, you can also draw with a long stick and your paper on the floor, these put a lot of distance between you and your drawing, but that's no bad thing and you can get fantastic results, it also gets your hand out of the habit of holding your pencil in the same way all the time.If you carry on, you will get an RSI (repetitive strain injury), so you must change your habits. (I don't mean to alarm you, but pain means the ligaments and tendons in your wrist/hand are over stretched and over worked).Good luck and I hope you find a solution (honestly, rolled up socks are brilliant!)

There is a burning feeling in the three fingers of my left hand - what can it be?

If this burning was of sudden onset, with no prior history of changes in sensation in your fingers, and if it clearly was subsequent to your handling of the pepper, then it is likely related to the Capsaicin in the pepper. Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS), while causing sensory changes in the fingers, is not typically described as "burning", though it could be. More typically it is described as "tingling" or "numbness" or "sleepiness". Carpal tunnel syndrome may be associated with B6 (Pyridoxine) deficiency, though that is debated. There is even less compelling evidence for association with B12 deficiency. I mention carpal tunnel because it is so common, though there are of course other causses of sensory changes in the hands as well. If you haven't already, wash your hands with detergent soap (or vegetable oil ) and the burning should dissipate if it was associated with the pepper. If it persists I would consult a physician. Good luck.

How do you prevent your fingers from hurting when you are learning the guitar?

I will write my experience. In the first few weeks there was no other way than to deal with it. I felt a lot of pain trying to hold down the notes especially in the 1st and 2nd strings. My index finger will have a red line on it after trying to play my 'jingle bells' tab for five minutes. I would wait till the pain subsides (line disappears) and then try again, only to stop again sooner because it feels red hot. Then slowly, I started seeing changes. Callouses started developing on the tips of my fingers. The fingerprint on the tip got faded somewhat though.*but hey who cares* Now it hurt less and I could play for longer periods. The thing is that you should not stop playing just cuz it hurts too much. Just keep at it and you will definitely improve, as you develop finger strength and dexterity and eventually learn to play like a pro. There are 2 things which you should be watching to reduce pain while you play. Check the 'action' of your guitar. Action is the gap between the strings and the fretboard. If it is too high, then playing becomes painful and it might lead to wrist pains and other unwanted problems. When playing a note, hold your finger as close to the edge of the fret as possible. See how the ring finger is placed on the edge. It makes it a lot easier to hold the string. Same applies when you are holding the barre for bar chords. Finally learning guitar is all about patience. Let the callouses build and soon your hands will be likeThen you won't be feeling a thing. Happy playing!

Why is my penis curved to the left?

I don't have anything to site but myself on this but take my word that I am correct (unless someone else lied to me). 70 percent curve to the left, I don't remember where I heard that but I trusted the source when I had heard it and I trust it now. I took note because I myself curve to the left. I am right handed but I don't think this has anything to do with it (90 percent is right handed and that would imply 90 percent bending to the left) I'm not sure I understand your question under source correctly, are you reasoninging that if you are right handed than the right side of your body will be slightly more developed thus causing the curve? Your penis is vascular (it inflates with blood) and is not a muscle. Perhaps one side has more blood vessels. Maybe its just that perfectly straight things don't occur in nature (if at all, I think its accepted scientific fact that parallel lines will meet eventually). As for the G spot, it would need to curve up to hit that better. The best way to hit the G spot (on a woman) is to lay your hand out flat in front of you with the palm up and curl you middle and index fingers towards you (maybe just one until she gets warmed up), you just hit the G spot.

Hand cramping with piano?

Hi, I've been playing guitar for a little under two years and other than regular fatigue my left hand doesn't usually hurt very much. However, I took up keyboard piano a few months ago and haven't had any problems until recently. Up until now it had been fine, but the past week or so every time I go to play my left hand cramps up TERRIBLY. It's really painful and I can't play at all. I went to play guitar to see if it did it then too, and it didn't. Is there something I can do to stop this? By the way it's the area of my hand attached to the pinky, the muscle right on the side of the palm gets all tense and painful. Please help! I want to play :(

Why do my upper right ribs hurt after eating?

Rib pain is usually caused by pinched back muscles sending the pains around your body on the nerves to become pains in the rib, chest or heart areas. I haven't heard of over eating causing the pain, but who knows? Here's how to free up the back muscles which would get rid of the pinched back muscles if you care to try them out just to see:
Back:
(do from a sitting position)
Place your left hand on your left leg next to your body. Place your right hand over your left shoulder, fingers over the back and the palm in the front and firmly pull down on them and hold. After 30 seconds slowly lower your body forward and to the outside of your left leg, keeping your left arm fairly straight as you do. When you reach your lap remain there for another 10 seconds, release the pressure but rest there for another 30 seconds. Then reverse your hand positions and do your right side.
For best results relax your body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this relaxed.
