So here's the problem, whenever I lift my mouse off the table (1cm max) it keeps working as if it were still on the table. This is a problem since I'm a gamer and I find myself pulling the mouse back towards myself lifted up quite a lot but everything goes crazy the moment I lift it right now. It's quite an old mouse, back from 2006 but it never had this problem before. I'm on a new notebook running Win8. It's a Canyon CN-MSL1 800dpi mouse.

My mouse stop working every time i lift it up from the table, why is this?

The laser mouse is programmed to cut off its laser once it is lifted just as an optical safety feature -- this is regardless of the computer's operating system.

For the mouse (ball or laser), it will not move unless it has a solid surface to track its location.

However the buttons will work because the connection between the computer and mouse is more direct.

PS: Did you ever wonder why optical mice have laser light underneath? It is used for sensing the movement of the mouse relative to the surface it travels on and it has to be as close to the surface as possible to get a concentrated laser beam. The farther it is from the surface, the less sensitive it will be.

If thors hammer was on a table could you lift the table?

Yep, it's nothing to do with the weight of the Hammer. It's designed to only be used by Thor. You couldn't lift the Hammer but you could lift the table. In fact, if you lifted the table and even tipped it upside down, not even gravity would knock it off.
