My Puppy Peed In The House Help

How do i get my Great Dane puppy to stop peeing in the house???

I have seen some bad advice already given. Never stick their nose in it, that is how the puppy will build a complex and then instead of being potty trained, they will just not want to go in front of you anymore. Have you heard of crate training, if not look it up. The idea is that a dog/puppy will never use the potty where it sleeps. Also, take the dog outside often and when it looks like it may need to go. (sniffing the floor, or searching in the house.) It's alot of work but it pays off.

Should i spank my 10 week old puppy if it pees in the house?

Absolutely NOT.

First of all, if you spank her but didn't actually catch her in the act, she will have no idea what she did wrong. Over time she will also learn to become frightened of you!

She should have NO accidents in the house. Any accidents (accept for when she's sleeping) are your fault for letting them happen, so you should not punish her. I have had countless number of puppies and never had ONE accident in the house.

You need to keep your dog on a schedule. In the morning, let her out. After she eats, let her out. After her nap, let her out. After play time, let her out. Take her water away an hour before bed time. Make sure she goes potty before bed.

Also, an un trained dog should never have full free roam of the home until it is completely potty trained and trustworthy. I normally keep my puppies gated in the kitchen. You can also get those small dog runs/play pens to put in the kitchen (presuming its tile). You need to start crate training her. NEVER EVER use puppy potty pads. They only make potty training take longer, because the puppy thinks its okay to potty in the house AND outside.

Crate training will be essential. Make sure you can a crate just big enough that she can stand and turn around. (craigslist has many for low prices).. If you put something in the crate make sure it's not too absorbent. You want her to be uncomfortable if she pottys in the crate. If she does you cannot punish her. Dogs dont like to go where they sleep, so if she does go and is uncomfortable because now shes wet, she wont do it again.

If you ever catch her in the act of going in the house, quickly pick her up say "No" and take her outside. When she goes LAVISH her with praise.

Like previous comments above, NEVER hug and kiss a dog more if they are doing something bad.

Good luck!

How can I help my puppy which is peeing blood?

You can take him to the veterinarian for starters. Urinalysis and blood testing might be likely. He could carry a zoonotic disease that you might be able to contract, he could be contagious to other animals, he could have a severe infection, depending on his age it could be stones or crystals… Your veterinarian will know the answer to this. It will require some testing. Please take your puppy to see your veterinarian as soon as you are capable. Hey veterinarian will likely be able to help your puppy get back to normal. Good luck!

8 Week old basset hound puppy pees in the house after i take him outside. Whe out he lays down and plays. Help

My 8 week male basset hound puppy keeps peeing in the house. I take him outside every 30 min-hour to pee. All he does is lay down or play. So i bring him back in and he then pees in the floor. He is in a crate. I take him outside many times through out the day. He also wakes up alot during the night. But when i take him out he either lays down or plays. How do i get him to stop peeing in the house, and to do it outside?

My 10 month old pup still pees in the house please help?

i have a 10 month old rottweiler pup, i got her when she was just under 4 months old, the prev owner said she was paper trained but i doubt she was, when she was out in the garden she would just stand and look at you as if to ask what she had to do, she didnt seem to know she could pee outside, in the begining she would pee and poo all the time to the point one of my carpets got ruined, she can now go for a week solid without doing anything but then she can do it twice in a week, i take the food and water away at 6pm every night and she continues to get let out from 8am till 12pm she is out constantly and i have praised her and given treats when she has gone to the toilet outside but it never lasts, i dont know what else to do,ive done the rub her nose in it and tell her its bad method when ive caught her in the act, i have even done the confinement method to just one room but still she does a pee and poo atleast twice a week, it might not seem such a big deal but at that age she shouldnt be doing it and because i confined her she obviously getd bored and she has started to chew my door frames and skirting boards, i need to replace them now and only just replaced the carpet that was ruined, can anyone suggest anything? i know she doesnt have a water infection this has been checked and ruled out

thank you so much

My dog wont stop peeing around the house!!! help!!!?

Well guess what i have a male pug also and i had the kind of the same problem. What i found out with mine is that he was marking territory towards the cats. So some more questions for you do you have any other pets (cats or other dogs)? If so he could marking his territory towards the other pets. Is he fixed? Once again if he is not fixed he could be marking his territory. If he is fixed, it could be that you didn't get the spots were he pee'd cleaned up well eught and he still smells his pee on that spot and thinks he can keep going there. Some tips to help stop going in the house, when he does go in the house, dont let him see you clean it up because then he will think that is your job to clean up his pee in the house. Also what every rag you use to clean it up with put it outside and make him smell it just to get the scent of thats him and he has to pee outside. I hope that helps.

My 14week old puppy keeps peeing in the house how do I train him to stop??? ?

You need to stay with him in the yard so you can praise him when he obliges. If you just leave him in the yard by himself he's not learning what you want him to do.

If he doesn't oblige when you take him out, put him in the crate for 10-15 minutes then take him out again.

You'll probably have to get out of bed once during the night until he learns to hold it.

Don't discipline him at all for doing what is a natural body function. If you discipline him he will learn to go behind and under furniture in the hope that you won't find it so he doesn't get punished. Just ignore accidents and praise when he does pee/poop when you take him outside.

ADD: Never, ever smack a dog for an accident inside the house. It's not his fault that you didn't take him out before he had to eliminate. Hitting a puppy is cruel and plays no part in house training.
We don't smack toddlers when they have an accident with toilet training and we don't smack baby puppies.

ADD2: Putting him in the crate for a few minutes when he does not pee/poop when you take him out is NOT for discipline or punishment. It's because the pup didn't need to eliminate when you took it out and will probably need to go after it's been in the crate for 10-15 minutes. Pups do not like to mess in their crates so crating for a few minutes will prevent an accident on the floor.

Is it right to punish a dog who pees in the house only when she unsuccessfully notifies us that she needs to go outside, i.e., she lets us know but no one notices?

Um, no, no dog knows it’s not supposed to pee in the house—that’s a concept you have in your head, and because you think it also exists in the dog’s head, you think she knows she’s not supposed to pee in the house. Dogs just do—it’s the humans who put the rightness or wrongness on the event. It’s called projection. Actor Jim Carrey says, “The eyes can be a screen as well as a projector.” You’re projecting. It doesn’t work that way. If you keep proceeding as if it does work that way, you’re going to keep getting more and more frustrated and angry.Dogs don’t get punishment, they’re not built to understand punishment—they get trained. They’re dogs, not humans. Treat them like dogs.Provided you understand the dynamics that are going on, you can train her to do whatever you want. It’s interesting to note, too, that a dog never does anything wrong—it’s the human who messes up.If your dog pees in the house, then you’vewaited too long, orgiven them too much room to run around, oryou’ve been weak in the leadership and she’s telling you by nature of her having peed where she needed to indoors that you’ve messed up and she’s in need for you to be a better and stronger leader. You can try to put in all on her shoulders and ignore taking the responsibility and the blame yourself for her having peed, but if you do, that’s not a good indicator. You’re the species with the mental capacity, the conceptual awareness, and the resources to make the connections, get a plan, and fix what needs fixing. She hasn’t a clue, but if you act calmly, strongly, non-aggressively, and assertively to her, she’ll respond to everything you ask her to do, given enough time and enough patience. If she’s asking for a pee break and you’re not accommodating her, whose fault is it she’s peeing indoors! If you know that she’s going to need to pee every five or six hours and you don’t have a outdoor break scheduled to be taking her out every five or six hours, whose fault is it she’s peeing indoors! Is it right to punish a dog who pees in the house—never.Get yourself a trainer to learn what you’re missing. You’ve got some key parts of the canine-human relationship missing that need to be filled in. The trainer will help you with identifying what those parts are that need attention.
