My Sister Has Eczema-it Is Itching A Lot And She

My daughter is 6 and she has eczema. Do you know any anything that will stop her form scratching.?

my 8 month old has had skin allergies since she was a newborn. she also has baby eczema. her doctor prescribed elocon...i think thats how you spell it. anyway, at the pharmacy, they can give you a generic which is a whole lot cheaper, but still works wonders. before the doctor had given me the precription, my sister in law had already told me about the cream. she's a nurse in the allergy department of hospitals. any way, the itching definitely has subsided, but hasn't totally gone away. i have noticed though that when i put a few drops of baby oil in her bath water that it keeps her skin from drying out and helps to prevent some of the itchyness. i tried lotion, but that also gives her an allergic reaction.

my best suggestion would be to try different suggestions and see whay works best for your child. although eczema is eczema, each child will react differently to things. also preventing the itch is a whole lot better than trying to treat the itch. keep her moisturized with a hypoallergenic formula, keep her clean, treat the eczema every night with the elocon or equivalent, and let her know that scratching will only inflame the area. good luck to you and your daughter.

If you had a persistent itch that flared up with scratching and was not eczema or hives tied to allergy what could it be?

There are numerous causes of itchy skin. If it flares up when you scratch then it could simply be a reaction to the scratching that causes the area to become inflamed. In other words, you have “kitten soft”, sensitive skin. Or it could be dry skin that is causing the itch. Or fungus, parasites or insect bites. It could be a contact dermatitis such as a reaction to soap, poison ivy or nickle. Or it could be psychological because sometimes people experience an itching feeling that has no physical cause. Itchy skin could also be due to more serious medical conditions. Nerve disorders caused by diabetes, pinched nerves, and shingles can cause severe itching. Chronic kidney disease can cause itching. Uremia is a syndrome that occurs when the kidneys are severely damaged and cannot filter toxins from the body. With uremia, itching tends to be worse at night. It most commonly affects the back, arms and abdomen. For home relief, try a good moisturizing cream or an over the counter anti-itch hydrocortisone cream. Choose mild soaps without dyes or perfumes and use unscented laundry detergent when you wash clothes. Avoid irritants to the skin like sun, cold and wind, or that can cause an allergic reaction such as nickle and wool. And as I mentioned above, don’t scratch. Scratching can lead to further damage and inflammation and can worsen the itching.Source:Itchy skin (pruritus): Causes, treatment, and home remedies

I've got severe eczema and I've got a lot of dark patches. Will anyone ever marry me?

Ok let me tell you about myself. I started having ezcema when i was 16. I just entered college and we had to play football weekly under the hot sun as part of our curriculum * by the way i still love football*. I developed allergy to grass and rashes appeared all over my legs and arms…my bro said i.looked like a lepoard. It was hurting. I had difficulty juggling my new environment in college and ezcema. In the end, i found out i can t totally take seafood either…. I had allergy to grass for few years. I always covered my legs with pants as i was so embarrassed to show my scars. And the hot weather made the ezcema worseBut i didn t care about who would love or marry me because these scars are not permanent. Today i do not have any scars. So my advice is you will take time to recover from your scars but do not let this affect your personality or self confidence. Just be yourself!

My sister has an itchy butt?

Hmmm, if you mean itchy right up her bumhole, it could be haemarroids (varicose veins in the rectum), or it could be worms, or pruritus (which is just an itch for no real reason). It could also be a sexually transmitted infection, or indeed not wiping her bottom properly.
I'd advise her to see her family Dr as it's probably very easily sorted. Good luck to her!

I think my daughter has eczema??? Please read and help?

Eczema and psoriasis are hereditary and often run in families. Both can show up unexpectedly or can be aggravated by something else. Both my brother and I have eczema, which didn't manifest itself until we were older. For some though, it comes out as kids and last throughout their lives while for others it goes away. Although there isn't a cure for either, the only thing you can do is control it. It's good you have a doctor's appointment today so that he can check it out and prescribe something ASAP because it CAN be painful if left alone--especially for a child.

* Wash her with mild soap. Harsh soaps can irritate since both conditions are auto-immune, which triggers the body to have a higher cell turnover.
* Moisturize. Aveeno is great for this, as well as, Eucerin and Cetaphil. Stick with lotions that have no fragrance.
* Avoid laundry detergent that contains perfumes or bleach.
* Keep her dressed in cotton, which "breathes."
* Putting her in a saline soak may help to relieve the burning sensation. Put in a 1/2 cup of table salt to half a tub of water and let her soak for a little bit. It mimics the saline solution normally present in our tissues and helps provide some relief. I also sometimes found oatmeal bathes or a cold milk compress to work as well.
* Watch out for what she eats and drinks. Certain foods or drinks can trigger attacks or make the condition worse.
* I find that dry environments make it worse too and that the Summer time my condition pretty much goes away thanks to higher humidity.

It is controllable but you'll have to be conscious of what's around her and observant as to what triggers it and makes it worse. Talk to your doctor and ask tons of questions. I'm sorry she has to deal with this, but it does get better.

LOTION THAT WILL COMPLETELY CURE ECZEMA FOR GOOD?

Eczema is not curable, I know I've had it for 56 years. There are things to use that can help. First it's a good idea to see a dermatologist. I have tried many over the counter lotions that did not help. I have to stay away from anything that has perfume or any sign of a scent in it, including laundry soap. I am now using Lubriderm lotion, Intense Skin Repair. It does help. When my hands get real bad where they're cracking and itching I use an oatmeal paste to help stop the itching. Mix in a bowl a small amount of oatmeal (not instant) and enough warm water to make a paste, rub onto hands and keep on for about 10 minutes, then rinse off. It can get very expensive using different products just to see which ones work the best for you but once you find what works don't switch. I also use a cream called Fluocinonide which a doctor will have to prescribe. When I use it (usually at night) I wear a pair of white cotton gloves. I hope this helps.

What to do about childhood eczema?

Regardless of age, eczema may strike. So better be familiar with some of the several treatment options for eczema such as:

1. Healing Natural Products - made from the pure essential oils extracted from plants and applied topically to relieve eczema symptoms and to begin the healing process of repairing the skin.

2. Coal Tar - this should be used under the supervision of a doctor as it can irritate some people's skin. Coal tar has a strong smell and can stain clothing.

3. Evening Primrose Oil - this is either applied topically or taken in capsule form. This oil contains gamma linolenic acid which is thought to be lacking in some of those who have eczema.

4. Phototherapy - this is another treatment for those with chronic eczema where the patient is exposed to up to 30 sessions of ultraviolet radiation. Expert supervision is required because the risks are the same as for sunbathing namely accelerated ageing of the skin and the increased risk of skin cancer.

If you take good care of your skin and choose a course of treatment that will work, you will go a long way to keeping your eczema under control. For more information on http://www.skinoriginal.com/eczema.htm will help you a lot to get rid of eczema quickly and safely.

Help with eczema?

Dr's normally give steroid creams but they are best not used on young children. I had eczema really bad as a child, my father did, and my little sister has it really bad. It does tend to get better over time, but I suggest having her take nice warm oatmill baths, milk baths. Only use Johnson's Baby wash on her skin, nothing else. All other lotions and soaps can burn and cause more inflammation. However, sometimes the lotion can also burn. Coaco/shea butter and Petrollium jelly with aloe is a good combination for a lotion based application. Make sure directly after the bath, it is applied while skin is still damp. I still have it on my face, and I have a daily process I still go through. I hope this helps like it did for me.

When I was in middle school, I used to have eczema and got it cured finally using some herbals. Now, it has come back and my 5-year-old also has it. My sister had psoriasis a couple of years back. Is it genetic? How can we cure eczema?

In many cases it seems to be allergy related. I have psoriasis and have had serious back trouble possibly related to psoriasis arthritis. In the summer time with lots of sun, it almost goes away, but sometimes I have flare ups that can be painful and annoying. Mine is on my hip and therefore not noticible. During one flare up, I was searching the Internet for solutions and found a post by a guy who had a bad flare up while traveling. He suspected it was food related and quickly determined that the only change in his diet was that he had bought low-fat low-cal yogurt which contained Aspartame (Nutrasweet/Equal) instead of the healthier more naturally sweetened fruit on the bottom type. Experimenting determined repeatedly that this was causing his flare ups. My results have been similar. This has not cured my long term, non bothersome psoriasis, but flare ups have been eliminated by avoiding Aspartame. Trying staying away from all fake, artificial sweeteners and foods and your skin will be much, much healthier. Robyn O'Byrain's book: The Unhealthy Truth: One Mother's Shocking Investigation into the Dangers of America's Food Supply-- and What Every Family Can Do to Protect Itself is excellent for parents of children with such problems. Skin issues are often a first sign of serious food allergy problems and should be deal with quickly because there are many serious related mental and physical health problems. Autism, ADHD, etc. etc. all are inflammatory related illnesses and tend to improve on a nature whole food diet.
