My Tenant Is Smoking Crack

My tenant is smoking crack ?

I smelled a chemical smoke crack smell coming from my tenants room, I told her if I smell that smell again she would have to move. The problem is that she is sweet and pays on time and is a manager at kids camp and I smelled it again last night. Should I give her a 30 day notice?

My dad smokes Crack.... Help?

What does meth/crack smell like when it's cooking and when it's being smoked?

Okay, I really need some help with this one. I'm living in an apartment complex and just had some new neighbors move in. I've been living here since Feb, under a year long lease. Until now, I hadn't noticed, but apparently there is an issue in these buildings with smells traveling between units. These new neighbors are two young guys, probably in their early to mid 20's. I'm 34, married and pregnant with my first child. Now all of the sudden, almost for the past week straight, our apartment has been filling up with strange odors. I had the police over the other night because I wasn't sure what the smell was, and it was just overpowering and saturating our entire apartment. The responding officer said she didn't know what the smell was. I thought it smelled like burning plastic, but she said she thought it smelled like nasty incense. Said she couldn't do anything unless she smelled dope. Very nice lady, very sympathetic, but there was nothing she could do. So tonight I'm napping on the couch, and all of the sudden I awake to what smells like intense really cheap flowery air freshener. For hours I tried to air out the apartment with a box fan and an open screen door. The smell kept coming. I figured out that it was filling our entryway, a sort of small lobby where all the doors on the floor meet. Eventually I caught these two hood rat looking females (I mean they were nasty, fat, too small clothes, looked unwashed, with no shoes) exiting the new neighbor's apt. I asked them if they were burning incense or spraying air freshener. They said yes. I asked that they ask the actual tenants to stop since the smell was filling my apt and making me sick. They agreed and I continued airing my apartment. A few minutes later, I start smelling this horrible burning smell. I'm unsure if it's their oven, if they're cooking up drugs (not sure how that works), if they're smoking drugs, or if they just burned something. My concern is for my unborn baby. If it were just me, I'd probably just suck it up and continue airing the apartment, no worries. So here's my question, what do meth and crack smell like when it's cooking and what do they smell like when they're being smoked? I need to know so that next time I call the cops, it's with reason. I don't want to waste their time or mine.

How can I prove to my landlord that smoking crack in an apt is illegal!landlord thinks it is okay.?

I have a neighbor who smokes crack, and opens my mail, and my landlord thinks that is okay. He says he can smoke in his own apartment and what does it matter if he opens my mail.

I live in an apartment and my neighbors are smoking pot. It smells bad everywhere, the odor goes through the doors. They refuse to stop or consume less, what can I do?

Strange: I’ve talked to many non-smokers who like the scent of burned cannabis, including a Panamanian roommate in college who adamantly refused to let me smoke cigarettes, but was fine with pot. But, apparently you have strange olfactory issues, whatever… Firstly, I’d advise you just treat this as any strong odor, as if your neighbors cooked fish a lot (this is often an issue for neighbors of recent South Asian immigrants), or burned incense. Actually if you found an incense scent that you don’t mind, you might even ask your neighbors to use it. An acceptable solution for everyone. When you bring up the fact that it is marijuana, you’re bringing up emotional issues (if not legal problems) for pot smokers, getting them defensive when they might be sympathetic. Many smokers would be understanding about bad smells, that’s how I would bring it up with landlord/apartment manager or even (God forbid) the police if they get involved somehow. Pretend you don’t know that it’s cannabis, just that it’s just an odor that bothers you. I think this would even work on a Quora search. You may find answers and solutions here that get lost when you make it an issue about cannabis, instead of just a strong odor you dislike. Especially if your neighbor is using cannabis for medical reasons. PS: cannabis is the preferred term for medical use, since it served this purpose for hundreds of years before prohibitionists used the term “marijuana” to capitalize on prevalent racism against Mexicans.

Can I post a no smoking sign infront of my apartment?

If you own it then yes, if not then I would consult management of the complex or the owner who is renting it.  I would bet they would have no problem with a sign that did no damage to the unit (such as a sign that was in a bucket of concrete and not attached to the unit).  If you attach it to the unit you might have to pay for repairs for the holes.....Many apartments are non-smoking as a policy.  Some accept smokers too.  The enforcement is a separate issue.  If you don't own something you cannot expect the police or even perhaps the management to enforce such a sign.  To try to do so yourself might cause an altercation.  You might be better to nicely ask people not to smoke outside your door (and state that you are allergic).ETA: the question changed to say the neighbor was smoking and management is doing nothing.  Therefore your options are to either accept it, contact the police (and risk that they either do nothing or cause conflict...medical marijuana is legal in California, or move).  If the smell of marijuana is strong then you might write the owners that you fear failing a drug test based upon second hand smoke and worry that the other tenants are breaking the law.   Finally if you move, you may want to have every complaint in writing by certified mail to show that you have complained (if you intend to break your lease).  You may end up needing an attorney.

Is marijuana use considered "outrageous in the extreme" in Oregon for 24-hour tenant eviction?

Occassionally, I smell someone smoking a joint on a particular floor in our apartment building. I really don't care if someone uses marijuana, but we're a no smoking building. It's also just disgusting to have that stank in the hallway.

In Oregon, I can post a warning and then a 10-day termination if the tenant refuses to comply. However, according to ORS 90.396(f), I could immediately terminate with a 24-hour notice due to an act that is "outrageous in the extreme" which includes possession of a controlled substance. Since the tenant is so blantant with their pot use, I doubt they care and will just drag-out the eviction process. Has anyone heard of a 24-hour "outrageous in the extreme" eviction being used for pot use?

Someone in my apartment building is smoking pot and it makes my place smell! What do I do?

In my apartment building, our fire escapes are indoors. The doors leading to this stairwell are not very thick, and there is a strict no-smoking policy. I have reported it to the landlords, but they don't know who it is, they have sent out notices to each resident, and they can't do anything. I can't figure out who it is, because the smell fills the entire stairwell.

Basically the smell of pot seeps into my bedroom through this fire escape door. I am in the military and it really worries me that I might be exposed to something while I am sleeping that could make me fail a drug test, and lose my job (not to mention be prosecuted under the UCMJ). Today I posted a paper at the front of my building (anonymously) saying that whoever is smoking pot needs to stop, or the police would be called. Is there something else I can do? Should I post a note on each door of the people I share the fire escape with, asking them to stop? Am I really going to have to call the cops to get this to end? I don't care if they choose to smoke pot, I just don't want to be exposed to it in any way, shape, or form.

I found a crack pipe In my new apartment?

Not joking. I moved into this new place about a month ago. I only just started unpacking the dishes and placing them in the Cabinets when I tried to put a plate away and it hit something. When I reached up I found a crack pipe. I google crack pipe to see if it could possibly be another kind of pipe but no it's definitely for crack. About a week ago someone who looked like they where on heavy drugs knocked on my door at night asking for Reggie I said he doesn't live here. He left. Should I say something to my landlord. I've noticed a weird smell in the living room too. What should I do ? Should I just throw it away

The realty lady told me it was a nice couple living here before me. And that the people downstairs smoked a lot so the smell came up to this apartment of cigarettes so they repainted the apartment.
I now feel like this was a lie and the walls reeked of crack. Idk what to do
Sorry if this was confusing
Ps I accesently broke it with the plate when I was trying to put it in the cabenit.
