My Turtle Has Something Long Coming Out Of Behind What Could It Be

There is white strings coming out of my RES turtle's butt...?

Im just so worried...
Is it a worm problem? and is it fatal?
My family doesn't have a budget to get my turtle to a vet and for the medicine...
I feel like theres nothing I can do to help my poor turtle...

My red ear slider is 4 years old and is currently shedding her shell/scutes.
I recently put a new lamp for basking and there are also white "fungus" looking things on her/his foot. It's cotton-like, is this something bad?

How can I get a turtle to come out of hiding?

give to your turtle milky bread. They like that very well, so they get out of hiding.

What is the black thing coming out of my turtle's tail?

you can not tell for sure by the bottom shell. This is one way people start to determine what one is but isnt necessarily correct.

When they mature, the penis has the ability to exit the body. be sure to monitor though If he extends it then doesnt retract it back inside he can prolapse and this can cause death if it isnt manipulated back inside the body,
if they get constipated and are pushing to move the feces, it can come out as well.

My turtle had something big come out his butt and then he sucked it back in.?

It is the appearance of a male turtle's penis. It comes out of the cloaca and is quite large and dark. The reproductive organ should go back in by itself. There would be a problem if it does not retract (penile prolapse) or if it injured by a scratch or another turtle. In those cases, immediately separate him and contact a veterinarian for guidance. Soaking a turtle in clean, warm water might help the situation.

i didnt want to type it all sry >< hope it helps

How do I find my turtle?

If you your turtle inside your house, for example if they escaped from their tank/enclosure - they may return to the area in front of the tank once they want to be found and put back in for feeding. Still, it’s best to look. Mine usually hide under or behind things. Sometimes they wedge themselves sideways between big furniture and the wall. It’s harder for them to breathe upside down (some say impossible but I think that may be more common for tortoises) so they may not be able to muster the strength needed to get out of certain spots. So look behind heavy furniture - anywhere that there’s a gap between the furniture and the wall. Then under anything and everything. I’ve had mine climb into a shelf that was close to the floor and hide between books, a pile of cables and video game accessories .If you lost them outside, still look behind large objects where there’s a gap behind them and a wall or fence. My turtles usually were found under bushes, shrubs, and grass when I let them roam in my backyard (an unwise thing I don’t do anymore!). I once caught my turtle trying to get under the fence - thank goodness she didn’t.Outside in general - check bushes, shrubs, beneath mulch chips if applicable and other big piles of stuff. Then do a perimeter search if the yard as well as the physical house. Once you finish the inner perimeter, then you gotta expand which can be trick if you gotta check neighbor’s yards but hopefully you lost your turtle inside and wont have to worry about an outdoor search.

How long can my mississippi map turtles stay underwater?

LOL first congrats on those cuties i love map turtles and have one female false map which is the same as a Mississippi . Yes it is very common for baby's especially to hide from people and things that aren't even there, as long as you have a dock and the right lighting and a heater they should be okay, expect them to be skittish for a while even my adult is skittish still, but the more human to tank interaction the less skittish they'll be, i suggest not taking them out all the time maybe a couple times a week to get them used to you, and most turtles that are aquatic can hold there breath 30 mins to hour, iv seen it with my own eyes, but be assured that they well not drowned themselves but if they are scared of something they may stay under for a while so i suggest maybe when you feel like they've been down to long just walk away and give them space they'll get used to you soon enough I hope this helped.

How long can sea turtle stay out of water help please i lost mine?

I assume you mean an aquatic turtle...sea turtles are totally illegal to have they are all endangered and protected! the turtle can stay out of the water for quite a while....i have a reeve's turtle who when he was in glass tank would jump off another turtles back off the basking spot right out of the tank. :) he was out at least overnight once while i was away and someone was coming to take care of them.
they are good at hiding, so try and look behind and under everything, even if it doesnt seem like they could get under there! my little reeve's is an excellent hider, and has stumped me before. even hid under a pile of stuffed animals once, totally burrowed underneath, and it did not look like one stuffie was disturbed at all. :) good luck finding your turtle!

What does it mean when a turtle's shell is soft?

Softshell syndrome is a major killer of young turtles, especially aquatics. Its real name is Metabolic Bone Disease (MBD) and it is caused by poor diet and/or insufficient lighting. In order to stay alive, turtles require a certain amount of calcium in the bloodstream. If they do not get enough, calcium is taken from the bones to maintain the right ratio in the bloodstream. Over time, the bones are weakened. If the shell feels soft, it means that the bony structure which holds the keratin shields (outer shell) rigidly in place is so badly compromised that you can feel the damage from the outside. In other words, the turtle's bones have softened, making the protein layer (shell) seem soft.

If a turtle doesn't have a shell, is it homeless or naked?

This question is an ancient Chinese proverb and meant as a philosophical question. This is why you sometimes find it in fortune cookies. I remember one night when I was out with a good friend and she got this cookie question. We pondered for quite a while and weren't able to find out the true meaning behind it - it for sure isn't "the turtle would be dead".We started to look up forums and there was all kinds of speculation, but nothing of substance. This seems to be a much deeper and complex question than it appears at first. What is naked? What is homeless? And: what's the qualitative question ? The turtle didn't lose the shell, it "doesn't have" a shell. It traditional Chinese culture, the turtle is also a totem for protection as well as a symbol for longevity - both closely linked to its shell. For me, a turtle without the shell points towards the question what remains of something -or somebody - after you remove the most prominent trait that defines this thing or person in society. Is this person naked -in the sense of having revealed it's true nature to the world that was previously blinded by that one defining trait? Or is the thing or person now lost and homeless itself. For me, this question translates into the question if your most defining trait is what gives you a home and sense of belonging, or simply represents your clothes - the things you need to cover up.If homelessness is the answer, the shell - less turtle is a lost creature that needs to find a new home. If it is naked, it simply shows its true form to an expecting society.Or maybe it's just a dumb question? We will never know...
