My Turtle Is Active But Not Eating Properly . So Wat Should I Do

Why has my turtle stopped eating lately?

I have a UV light and his water has just been changed. I live in FL, so the weather doesn't change too drastically from the seasons, but regardless, his tank is indoors. His other food had run out, and I got some him some more, but it wasn't the exact same brand and alil dif, but I didn't really think that would matter. Now after reading some feedback, I do notice that he is not as active lately and seems to sleep alot more. Thanks for the help....

What should I do about my mud turtle not eating?

my friend got this turtle from someone on craigslist so I don't know any history. It came with a small critter container you buy at pet stores. also, they gave us wardley reptile sticks and wardley turtle delite.

so the turtle is not eating. I scare it so it tries to bite at me and I throw food into it's mouth. It ate about 5 sticks and it never worked again. I tried to leave the food over night, and have his container covered. nothing. I leave anacharis and cover the entire container over night, and it eats it. this is the only way i know that would work.

so I moved it to my large turtle set up with two other two red ear slider. all of them are VERY active, but only my red ear sliders are begging for food. the mud turtle hasn't eaten for more than a month. I leave anacharis, but my red ear sliders eat all the food up right away. what should I do?

1. feed the mud turtle once a week with anacharis overnight?
2. it's very active so it must be eating the other turtle poo or something. just let it chill in the large setup and see where it goes.
3. create a setup for it's own (i dont want to do this, it's expensive)
4. wait until spring and let it go in the Poconos. there's a lake I think I want to let it go in, or should I find a stream instead?

Why is my painted turtle less active?

Does he have heat and UV lights? These are necessities for turtles. They also have internal clocks, so he may be slowing down for winter.

Well you need to get a bigger tank because turtles need heat and UV to be healthy. Please take care of your animal, you keep it in a tank where it cant escape so its your responsibility to care of them properly.

Then please give your turtle to someone who can provide for it. Its suffering and will have a painful life full of bone issues and malnutrition. A turtle cant digest food without heat. Simple as that.

Why is my baby turtle inactive?

I rescued it from my cousin, who did not take care of it at all.

Of course at first the turtle was inactive until it was in the proper environment. A week after I got it, the turtle was very active, but now it is not.

It just basks all day, and it sleeps. It has not been eating, and whenever I put it in the water it just floats.

It is in a 10 gallon tank, with a proper basking area, an UVB light, a heater (76-78 degrees), and the water and filter is clean

What can I do to help my turtle become more active like before?

Thanks!

Can a turtle survive in cold water?

Can a turtle survive in cold water? Red-eared sliders not only can survive in cold water, they do so in the wild, every year. Throughout much of the area that red-eared turtles live, the lakes and ponds they live in get quite cold during the winter. The water temperature is often 40 F and the ponds occasionally freeze over.In fact, this is one reason they are listed as an invasive species in several states. For instance, in Oregon, red-ears have such a listing. This turtle isn’t native to the western US, but there are now breeding populations in many ponds in Oregon. Yearly air temperatures drop well below freezing in Oregon, in the winter, so most ponds freeze over every year. Yet, the population of wild red-eared turtles in Oregon goes merrily along. Our two female red-eared sliders (both females) are kept in a 55-gallon aquarium, 3/4 filled with water and with rocks at one end so they can get out of the water when they choose. The tank isn’t heated, but since it is in the house, the water is never as cold as it gets outdoors in the winter. They’ve thrived in this arrangement for 12 years. However, if we had a pond outdoors, there is little doubt that they would survive much colder water temperatures than ours experience. As long as the water doesn’t freeze solid and the turtles have access to mud and vegetation, they should be fine in cold water. They are more sensitive right after they hatch, but that usually happens in the spring, so in about six months, they become tough enough to withstand and flourish in cold water.

My Yellow Bellied slider turtle has stopped eating, sleeping a lot and gererally off form, please help???

Female, one years old, I feed her and her companion a wide variety of foods, fish, dried and fresh, plants and nutrition based pelets all for turtles, they are in a large 4 foot tank, 29 degrees celcius water, uv light, underwater heater, large filter, dry floating doc, cuttle bone, clean water, never has been a problem until now, I care for them maticulusley (sp?) their tank and conditions are perfect, and this is the first time one has acted sick, it is only affecting one turtle, she sleeps a lot, not eating anything for about a month now, acting generally off form, not very active. the vet has given antibiotic shots but can do no more of her, unless I travel 3 hours to a turtle hospital which will be a dangerous trip for a sick turtle out of water!! please help I cant think of anything!!!

My turtle wont eat or hardly move whats wrong with him?

First what kind of turtle? If it's an aquatic turtle, what are his basking and water temps? If it's a land turtle, what are the warm side and cool side temps? What is humidity? Do you have the proper lamps? UVA/UVB and a heat lamp? What else can you tell us about his enclosure? What have you been trying to feed him?

No he doesn't need a friend, turtles are solitary creatures.

* Is the turtle kept warm enough? If turtles get too cool, they will stop eating.

* Does the turtle like the food you offer? Try out different foods. Some turtles can be very finicky eaters, especially in the beginning. And they have definite likes and dislikes. Most turtles will eventually take small earthworms that are wiggling in front of their nose. Start feeding favorite foods, then slowly introduce other items.

* Is your turtle exposed to too much stress? This is often a cause in new animals. Stress can be caused by handling, traveling, tank mates. New turtles will often not eat properly for several weeks. Be patient and keep trying.

* Is your turtle healthy? Not eating can be a symptom of other problems. If your turtle has been eating well and suddenly stops, a health problem is a likely reason. Take a fecal sample to your veterinarian. (Fecal samples need to be no older than 4 hours, and you need to store them in water in the refrigerator.)

* Don't panic! A turtle can go without food for weeks, even months, and when it feels well again, it will eat again. See a veterinarian, if you think you are doing everything right, and the animal does not eat for more than 2 weeks.

Baby red eared turtle not eating/sleeping?

So I m 14 rarely have any money and well I was at a small Chinese store and saw that they were selling turtles for $7 so I thought hmm why not buy one. I also bought it for pellets with vitamin c and since I don t have a tank and read online that it needs a big place to stay I took out and filled a big plastic drawer with water and put a platform on it. It s been 2 weeks since I got the turtle and he hasn t eaten at all or pooped. Even I first filled the thing with water he was swimming and everything but now he puts half of himself in the water and the other half on the platform and just sleeps and sleeps! I get him to move more sometimes but he s not eating or anything! I m saving for a uvb light for him. And I ve tried giving him banana, apples, lettuce etc. and he doesn t eat at all. When I got him he was very active but as time is passing he s been getting less active. What can I do right now to help him meanwhile I buy his light? I ve asked people if they want him cuz I don t have the money to take care of him but everyone says no so what can I do now to help him?

How long can small turtles go without food or water?

A normal healthy, adult turtle that has been fed properly during it's life will be able to survive for months without eating anything. baby turtles, will not be able to survive for quite as long as they need protein and food a lot more frequently than adult turtles do. Small adult turtles (juvenile ones) can go longer, especially if they are in a state of brumation Water is still needed to prevent dehydration. They may lose their weight and their growth rate will be reduced too.Usually turtles depend on temperature In climates with winter temperatures or low humid temperatures that go below freezing, most turtles of all types survive the climate without eating for as long as 5 months or more(during winter and rainy seasons). since they are cold-blooded(poikilothermic), their body temperature) drops below 7°C (about 45°F), turtles enter a state of inactivity called brumation. They become active as usual when there is a rise in temperature and the turtles turn comfortable. If they are living in a place with soil, plants with insects they may feed on them and survive for days. The situations will be a bit different during summer. My pet turtle went missing on August 24 and since then I used to search for him daily and finally found him on November 17. He survived for almost 85 days without food ( he might have eaten something as he was on my terrace...he may not have eaten too he is just 10 days old when he went on this adventure) he survived from cats, rains, birds and without food. I still can't believe I found him!!! He didn't grow in size. He became weak and he didn't eat for the next 3 days perhaps because of the new environment, now he is perfectly fine and enjoying with his two other friends ! (I named him Karna! Other turtles are Arjun and Krishna)The day when I found him ( after 85 days)Now he is enjoying with Arjun and Krishna  he became normal within 5 days.Image source: my gallery
