My Two Yorkies Are Fighting They Are The Same Age And From The Same Litter

Why did my dog separate one of her puppies in her litter and keep it company by itself?

Dogs have been given acute senses that we simple humans could never attain. They can sense when something is wrong with a pup and so they take it upon themselves to push this pup out of the pack because they sense that this pup isn’t going to make it in life. They could be right but I’d take these pups to a veterinarian quickly and get his medical opinion about them before they are suffering from malnutrition .If he says that they have a shot at life then you’ll have to bottle feed them for quite a while .If they respond well and grow the mother may change her mind and accept them back into the pack of puppies .If not then they are yours till they are old enough to eat on their own.But don’t stand there do it right away A vet can give you much more guidance then anyone her can .They have seen it all too many times already and they have the connections to get you on the right path I wish and the pups Good Luck

What is the best way to introduce two puppies?

I raise Yorkies so the other adults have to get used to new puppies all the time. Be assured, this is a slow but pretty easy process. First thing is they are both young enough to not be territorial yet. That is a good thing. Next, yes take them to the park or even to your own yard is still fine. The basset put on a leash and keep the terrier in the kennel, let the basset sniff around for a little bit, 15 minutes or so until they ignore the kennel and play with you (have a ball or toy with you and some tiny treats). Reassure both pups with good boy/girl, play nice in a sweet voice . This is very important !! Secondly take terrier out of kennel slowly, slowly, keep both on leash. It may be best to keep new puppy turned away from basset for a few minutes (they will have to check out each others bottoms for a minute or two) you know, the sniff test. Maybe a little distasteful but true, sorry I did not make the dog rules! LOL. Anyway, give both treats and continue with good boy/girl and play nice command. Pet and love on both as much as possible. That way, neither will see the other as threat for the "pack leader" (thats you) affection. Turn both around and carefully let them get close to each other for just a second, then a minute, then a couple minutes. You get the idea, keep repeating the magic words we have said before and keep treating small bites. Look for hopefully wagging tails and erect ears. If you see tails down, or ears flat to head. Move them away again because they are gettng aggrivated with one another. Repeat this process all over again for several days and lengthen the time they are actually close until they begin playing (and they will). Then still do not leave them alone for a few weeks until they come running together tails wagging. This process may seem drawn out to some, but I have raised Yorkies (and had many other dogs) for over 12 years now and this has always worked. Hope this helps!!!

Our Female Yorkie Just Had Puppies And Our Other Female Dog Tried To Kill One. Why Would She Do That?

We were watching the mom with the puppies when our other female dog (who is also pregnant) ran up and picked a puppy up by the neck and tried to kill it. We have no idea why she tried to do that.... the puppy is okay but now we have to keep her up because we aren't sure it wouldn't happen again. If there is any reason you can think of as to why she would try to kill another dogs puppy please give me any of your ideas... thanks.

Should I get one Yorkshire Terrier or two? What gender(s)?

CUTE NAMES ;D omfg. :3 lol, get twoo. even though it's just slightly more money, it's gunna grt lonely for sure. ]: what if you were a human with just dogs? you'd want another human, right? [: so yeeah. especially if your like middle-high school. late school hours. ^.^ it's not healthy for a dog to be alone . scientists say that lonely dogds are harder to train. you should get a puppy at a young age so it recongizes you. lol. female & male [; coke for female. [= and also, you can search online for what kind of temperament a female yorkie has, and what kind of temperament a male yorkie has. they both have their awesome features (:

Does gender matter between a cat and a dog who share the same home?

Because they're different species, I really don't think it will cause a problem. The problem with homes with two animals of the same gender is because it can cause tension. This isn't always the case, but some male and female cats (mostly males though) can be aggressive to new members of the household as they see them as a threat. This is also something that happens with dogs. The problem can be avoided with cats by placing calming diffusers and making the introduction process very slow, and early, frequent socialization in dogs. The problem can also be avoided if the animals were raised together. But since one is a dog and another a cat, the only problem you might come across is the cat thinking the dog is a predator, or the dog fearing the cat's claws. The sex of the animals should not be an issue here. I do recommend that you take it slow when introducing them, though, just to avoid either one freaking out too much.If the puppy can handle it I would alternate between keeping one animal in a room while the other has access to the rest of the house, and alternating every day or so. If the puppy can't handle this, then do that with the kitten, but on days the kitten can roam the house, keep the puppy on-leash for the day so he can't harass the kitten. When the kitten seems comfortable in the reach of the dog on leash, you can let the kitten roam with the dog off leash. If there are any conflicts, then let them sort it out on their own. If they get into a fight, though, try to distract them. With them distracted, whatever started the fight should be forgotten. Thanks for the A2A by the way, and I hope this helps!

How long does it take for (morkie) puppies to be full grown?

noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

v_v There's no way of telling how big they'll get or how long it'll take because they aren't *cringe" morkies. They are mixed breed puppies. And mixed breed puppies can be any size. I had a pitbull mix puppy that got twice the size of both of his parents. And another puppy from the same litter never got bigger than the mom. All the pups sizes will be different.

Why is one of my 6 week old puppies bigger than the other?

*Catahoula Leopard dogs btw not Cataloo's. These dogs are Native to Louisiana
and are Lousiana's State Dog. I'm a Louisiana resident

Some puppies are bigger then others due to a lot of factor. Sex for one is a factor, males tend to be bigger then female puppies, so this could be the case, but if they are the same sex, then this factor is out. Milk intake is another factor, puppies fight for milk, the strongest most viable puppies will get the most milk and develop faster, get more fat and protein from the milk, and will get bigger, one pup might have gotten more milk from Mom than the other, this could be the case. Also, it could be the amount of food you are feeding them? Are they fed the same amount? Do they get the same amount of exercise? If not, either one of these options could be the case. Also, genetics, every puppy is different, genetics has a lot to do with size, temperament, mental and physical development.

I really can't give you an accurate answer but one of these factors could actually help enlighten you and get you a better understanding.

How come she's so small and underdeveloped? I think perosnally that it has something to do with milk intake. I don't think this pup got the milk her other sibling got. Milk helps build fat, it helps brain development, and because she didn't get a large amount of it, this could be why she's slower at catching on to things and learning things. Also, take in mind that you got her at a young age, she is still very small, and has a lot of growing to do, she may have been born premature but you nor me could never know, we didn't see the puppies at birth.

How can you get her to be bigger?
Only genetics can make a dog bigger, but you can help her build fat and muscle by feeding her a diet high in proteins and getting her plenty of exercise. I suggest feeding her lots of meat or a hollistic brand of premium dog food. Do you need to? If you feel that she is to small, that her ribs are showing or that she's just not as energetic as a puppy her age could be, I suggest you feed her more, if you want a sure answer of her health, then call a Vet and schedule an appointment.

When should you get them spayed/neutered? At 6 months of age for both the female and male.

Don't wait or hesitate. Spaying and Neutering is very beneficial to the dogs health and temperament.

Why would my cat kill all 5 of her 5 day old kittens?

Whenever I came home yesterday, my mom had left our dog in the same room as our Cat and her litter of kittens. Our cat and dog love each other and our cat thought that my dog was her mother. We have 2 other cats at our house and we were pretty sure that she had had kittens with her brother, just by looking at the colors of the kittens. I had heard that if a cat had kittens with one of its sibling then the babies could come out mental...and if a cat senses something wrong with her kittens she would kill them. When i came home i saw that all of the kittens were still in their bed with blood on the sheet, and had been punctured by bite marks. There wasn't a big mess and the kittens wounds had been very tiny. That same morning my mom had also found one of the kittens behind the washing machine, but the washing machine was a few feet away from the kittens bed and the bed was no more than 6 inches from the ground, so the kittens would not have been able to climb out. The mother would have had to have taken it back there. The mother Cat was a little older than a year old. Was the mother to young to have kittens? Was she too stressed? Was she annoyed or even jealous? When a cat scrunches her paws up and back out is that a sign of stress?
