My Water Tank Is Being A Pain In The ****

What can you get from drinking dirty fish water?

I'd have the doctor take another look if I were you - sounds like he's not nearly as concerned as he should be.

Your son may be experiencing psychosomatic symptoms, especially if you made a big deal about him possibly getting sick from the water. If so, the pains will pass.

Unfortunately, fish water can harbor lots of nasties. Fish poop and urine contain tons of bacteria. There may be parasites in some of your fish - for the most part, I think the human body is too warm for these parasites to thrive, but I'd still have your doctor take a look at a stool sample, just to be on the safe side. Also, and not to scare you, but some fish are infected with a form of tuberculosis. There have been some accounts of people ending up with skin lesions. Fish TB infected an already open sore on their hands and arms. It generally took several months (and many doctor's visits) for the sores to go away, though I'm not sure if TB can affect the gastrointestinal tract in any sort of way. Read here for more info on fish TB affecting people: http://www.flippersandfins.net/FishTankG...

I don't mean to scare you, but I just thought you should know that there's more in fish water than just bacteria. If your son's symptoms persist, I'd suggest being more persistent with your doctor, or finding another doctor altogether.

I drank water from a water tank where a lizard has been decomposed for six months. Now, I am not feeling comfortable. I feel unhealthy and I feel pain in my back bone & belly. What is the solution to this?

Why did you drink from a tank of water that you knew had a decomposing lizard in it? You said it was in there for 6 months, so I assume you knew it was there ahead of time.Lizards can carry salmonella which could make you sick but probably not 6 months after it died. You could also have gotten sick from bacteria in the water especially if it's been stagnant. But more than likely the affect is in your mind. Still go to the doctor. They may want to give you some antibiotics in case there was anything in the water.

Do I need to turn off my hot water heater if I shut the water main to my house?

This might be the most common cause of failure for the top element in an upright electric tank water heater. Water is turned off, water is drained somewhere in the house, to relieve pressure. The water level in the tank drops below that of the top element. If the element gets turned on without water surrounding it, it gets too hot and burns up.In rare circumstances, you could also get a buildup of dangerous pressure if the relief valve were to fail. So, yes, please turn off your water heater when you turn off your water main.

Does turning off the well hurt the water heater?

I am currently in the process of switching out my water tank (from the well) because there is a tear in the side. For the next two days I plan on switching off the pump in the well so it won't be stress the tear, and only turning it on when i need water. Will this hurt the water heater?

When I turn on the well from the breaker I normally hear weird noises from heater. Probably from heating up more water?

If you put too much water conditioner in a fish tank can it kill a fish?

Most of the water conditioners are Sodium Chloride and the dechlorinator Sodium Thiosulphate. Don't know what chemical(s) bonds temporarily with ammonia. The first is pH neutral (it doesn't change it because it isn't a buffer). The second in a really great quantity could cause a pH plunge.

It is unlikely to hurt your fish. If you are really conscientious, you could do another partial water change. :)

Aquarists could do a 50% a day partial water change with treated, "seasoned" water and they would never hurt their fish. Of course their fish would be largerly disease free, more colorful, larger, more active and spawning more frequently.

(Nature in the wet seasons often changes 90% plus of the water DAILY that wild versions of our aquarium fish live in.)

Kudos to you for caring about your fish and making that inquiry!

Stomach pain whenever i drink from my filtered water?

Whenever i drink from the filtered water tank at my house, my stomach hurts . I took some pain medication for it but it STILL hurts. I tried drinking a jug of bottled water and that seemed to be easier on my stomach but still, the pain definitely did not completely go away. Unlike most people on things that i am reading up on (because this obviously concerns me) , my stomach does not hurt from COLD water. My filtered water is about as room temperature as you can get out of water. Is this something serious? Lately i have only been drinking about 2 cups of water a day (which i know is not enough) could this be why i'm experiencing this?

Is it safe to bathe or shower in rusty water?

From Color, Taste, and Odor: What You Should Know: "Rusty water occurs from sediment in the pipes or rust from the inside walls of the water mains. The rust can be disturbed and temporarily suspended in water with unusual water flows from water main breaks or maintenance or by flushing of a hydrant. This discolored water is not a health threat. When the water is discolored it is recommended to either not wash laundry or to use a rust stain remover or regular detergent but not chlorine bleach as it will react with the iron to form a permanent stain."While this website is a government run website, I might consider checking other sources as well.

Why does hot water stop flowing when the main water line is turned off?

Pressure from the cold water coming from the street provides the pressure to both the cold and hot water systems in a house. When hot water is used from a tap the hot water heater remains pressurized only because cold water enters the heater tank to replace the hot water used. When the main supply turned off the hot water being used can no longer be replenished by the cold water and the pressure in the hot water lines drops to zero. For a period (until it cools) you can still get some hot water from the tank with the main shut off valve closed by opening the flush valve located near the bottom of the hot water heater. In this case no pressure other than that provided by gravity is needed, though the flow will be reduced.
