My Wife Is German And Im American Can I Stay If I Was Married In Germany

How do German men view marriage?

i guess they are like many other guys ! my ex-husband is german! But i cannot give you a general view on "the germans". Nowadays in towns you don't get married so fast anymore, in small places it's more usual. I cannot tell you if they are cheater or not, in my opinion if they go for a real relation, they are very true, but however open-minded, they won't tell the wife to stay at home , if she wants to go out an evening with her (girl) friends . Normally the financial things they decide together, and it's even normal that both work . I wouldn't know why others decide to marry, i fell in love with my exhusband , we got a child, and we got married..we're still friends however, (and that's a very good trend in germany, ex-husbands and wives stay friends after divorce, because it's better for the children.

My Boyfriend is in the Army and just got stationed in Germany, I want to move there to be with him...?

Just to add a few more details, I am trying to get a job working on the base he will be stationed at in April 2008 in Kaiserslautern, Germany aka K-Town. We've both been told there's a chance I could get employed by the govt and work on the base. I have a Bachelor's Degree and have 3 years of experience in the corporate world. If anyone can give me any information about base jobs and cilvillians working on the base I would really appreciate contacts or websites. We are both trying to do lots of research before I even go there. Getting married is out of the question! We want to take our time and not get married for the sake of making this easier. I don't mind a really good challenge and I'm up for it all, even him getting assigned elsewhere! Also, does anyone know if you work on the base if you can live on the base? I'm fully aware of how expensive it is over there and how hard this is going to be, like I said, I'm up for the challenge and willing to do what it takes to be with him.

If a foreign married couple living in Germany gets a divorce and the man has a blue card, what happens to the wife? How could she get her own visa?

If she obtained a resident permit because of you, then she will most likely lose her residence permit. Without a valid residence permit, she is not eligible to work. There are cases where Germans who are married to foreign nationals get divorced and the foreigners then lose their residence permits and subsequently their right to live and work in Germany. In cases where one has a permanent resident permit, it is usually up for review.I would suggest that you check with your local Ausländer Behörde.

US Soldier wants to marry German national?

Start at the base JAG office. They have to deal with this kind of issue all the time.

STOP calling her a German National. If she has American citizenship then she is an American just as much as you. You can save yourself a lot of headaches if you right from the git go refer to her as an American who happens to speak German.

Keep in mind that if you get married in Germany it will be under German law. You need to make sure you understand all the ramifications of that. They will look at it as a German marrying an American which may not be the way to look at things. For example, will your American service pay be subject to German income taxes and the like? Also, make sure you get certified translations of all the marriage documents. That will prevent you from having problems back in the USA when someone asks you for a copy of you marriage license. By having a certified translation you will have a lot less problems.

Go to the JAG.

Are there many German men who marry foreign women? In general, what countries citizens do they marry?

despite the stagnation of marriages between germans-germans the marriage between germans and partners from foreign countries did rise ever since.

1989 approx. 36.000, 2004 approx. 60.198 (16 %)

there is a gender-related difference. more german men got married to a foreign woman compared to german women that got married to foreign men.

german men - foreign women: 1989: 15.670, 2000: 31.517
german women - foreign men: 1989: 20.216, 2000: 24.535

this was an indication of martimony migration of women.

currently the marriages between german men and women from asian countries did stagnate while marriages to women from easter european countries did rise.

polish, russian women. i myself know men who are married to women from romania. thailand still popular. brasilian women also on top of the list. marriages to fillippino women do stagnate. not taken into account here are the foreign women who ALREADY do live/work here in germany (greek, italian, spanish...)

these are only statistics up to 2004...sorry! hard to find something.

http://www.network-migration.org/miginfo...

the significance of official statistics does only rely on marriages held in germany!!!!

due to mass tourism, buisiness-trips, bigger mobility in general etc. bi-national relationships are more and more common!

very interesting - this research - i tend to find out more as i have heaps of bi-national relatinships in my closer network of friends....

hope it helped a bit.

How long does it take to be a German citizen through marriage to a German national? Will I atleast get a residence permit after marriage?

Like for most civilized countries on earth, you won’t get German citizenship through marriage but you probably will get a residence and work permit unless it is apparent that your marriage is for citizenship purposes only. Also, you don’t need to marry a German citizen to live and work in Germany. Marrying any EU citizen will do the same trick (it might even be easier to marry a non-German EU citizen for purposes of work and stay permits. My ex-wife easily got the French “green-card” when we moved there. Had I been French and not (as I am) German, it would have been more difficult. Long live the EU!P.S. Be careful not to marry a Brexiter :-)

Is my wife allowed to work in Germany if I am on a student visa?

My husband is a student in Germany (Lower saxony) . I came on a dependent visa it seems as my husband had to show some money in his account to get my visa. After the initial 3 month visa i got a new visa where it was writtenErwerbstätigkeit gestattet = Employment permittedI have worked full time with out any limitation (you even get a pension :) and if your contract is long term or permanent you will be entitled to pregnancy leave with full pay ;) ). Where as my husband is allowed to work for a limited number of hours a year. But i do not know if this depends on the state you are going to. Many answers to your question that have been given here are misinformed. Dependent visa does not mean you are not allowed to work (This is true for Lower saxony about other states i don’t know). And you do not need a contract to get the work permit. Mostly work permit is necessary to get the job in the first place.

How do I marry a German Citizen in the US?

Thanks for your service.

She can come to the USA on the B visa (though I would have expected her to have a visa waiver instead?)

You can marry. Follow the procedures where you live (contact the local court house)
or visit Las Vegas for a wedding with very little paperwork, no waiting time, no blood test required.

However she CAN NOT remain in the USA. She should return to Germany (within the time allowed by the visa she entered with).

After marriage you file a Spousal Visa Petition to request permission for her to legally immigrate to the USA as your wife. This process takes about 12+ months.

Once she is approved for the Spousal Visa (CR1) she is also approved for her Green Card and she can stay with you permanently in the USA.

The above is the solid procedure to get her here, and to get her Green Card. If an alien is in the USA and they marry, they sometimes can successfully apply for Adjustment of Status. Usually this is from a student or work visa, where they have been in the USA for some time, have met someone, fallen in love gotten married. To travel to the USA on a B visa, or visa waiver specifically for the purpose of REMAINING in the USA (after marriage), is a violation of the terms and intent of her B visa. Sometimes USCIS overlooks this and grants the Green Card, but mostly they deny the Green Card and begin deportation proceedings against the alien. You could try it, but this is very risky at best.

Best is you follow the proper procedures that are in place. Marry here or there, then apply for a CR1 visa. Once she gets it she legally and permanently comes to the USA.

Can I bring my family to study in Germany?

I looked around the Visa regulations, and having answered some question before, I'm pretty sure there is no specific regulation for this. That's not a negative answer, it just means you cannot be sure of the outcome until you apply for a Visa.Germany is relatively lenient towards allowing family immigrate, work, study together BUT to prevent misuse there is no entitlement and each decision is case by case.Preconditions:Money: A single student is generally asked to demonstrate that he has 8000€ per year available to cover his cost of living. This requirement will double to 16000€ per year I'm pretty sure.Length of marriage. To prevent misuse they will almost certainly deny the request if the marriage was closed less than 6 months before the application is made. I'm not sure about the exact periods, after 3 years of marriage they will certainly not raise any doubts anymore.Children are not an issue. Aside from adding to the cost of living its always and all or nothing decision, you will never be asked to leave your children at home (other countries do this!). German language skill. Its a BIG plus if the wife/husband can demonstrate/proof A2 level or better German skills!
