My Wisdom Teeth Are Coming In How Should I Approach This

I am 31 and have my wisdom teeth growing. Why is it growing now for me and it's very painful?

The third molars are usually formed and erupted by the age of 18, give or take a year or so. The timing depends on the growth and development of the individual. If the teeth are not in at that time they are either congenitally missing or impacted. There are various classes of impactions. The ones you are concerned with are soft tissue impactions and partial bony impactions.Soft tissue impactions are fully erupted teeth but partially covered with gum tissue. This is because the dental arch is longer than the space available for the teeth. The tissues in the back of the mouth rise with the jaw bone leaving the back of the tooth covered with soft tissue.[1]Partial bony impactions are teeth that come in at an angle and get caught behind the second molar. They cannot achieve full eruption. If the tooth structure is open to the mouth, the gum will cover a significant portion of the exposed structure.[2]In both cases, it is the gum partially covers the tooth. Food debris may become caught underneath the flap of gum and/or plaque may form on on the exposed tooth structure. This forms a localized low grade infection in the gum around the tooth structure. It is called pericoronitis or inflammation around the crown.Pericoronitis feels just like an erupting tooth. The flap of skin is soar and the tooth underneath the gum tissue may poke up into the swollen gum tissue. This is the pain you experience. It may come and go periodically or may develop a more general infection. The treatment is to remove the tooth.Footnotes[1] Tooth Extraction[2] Treatment : Third Molars / Wisdom Teeth

Do you get high from getting your wisdom teeth out?

when i got my wisdom teeth pulled it was hard to move and talk. my thoughts were perfectly clear, it was just hard to control anything. oh, and i didn't remember falling a sleep or waking up. they gave me propofol to put me to sleep and some heavy painkillers when i woke up. but it all depends how you and your doctor approach the surgery. some doctors give meds to take before the surgery and then give you laughing gas ( i think) and numbs your gums right before the surgery. others put you to sleep ( not always with propofol )

my friend had his wisdom teeth taken out without going to sleep and he said he didnt feel any pain. he was also pretty loopy after the surgery

the experience was fun, but im not one of those people who would want to do it again

Miss work for removing Wisdom Teeth?

u r confused and confusing us also am not getting u

I hate surgery... Is there a way to prevent wisdom teeth from growing?

wow, you're overreacting!

getting your wisdom teeth is a bit uncomfortable (sore gums, headaches, slight fever and they last for years sometimes!)...but it's not unbearable. and you don't need a huge surgery to remove them...you don't need to remove them at all unless they're growing in a wrong way.
i got an infection in one of my wisdom teeth (not the tooth itself, the wound created by it when it was breaking though the gum) and i just got it removed...no surgery. just a few injections to numb the pain and the dentist just pulled it out. the huge surgery comes only if the teeth is growing into your jaw bone or something and that doesn't happen to everyone!!

there's no way to prevent wisdom teeth from coming. it starts coming when you're around 18. I'm 22 now and my lower two wisdom teeth are still only half way up. They are pretty uncomfortable when they are first coming up and breaking through the gums, but seriously, it's not such a big pain that a few pain relievers can't take care of.

Edit: i didn't realise that removal of wisdom teeth were a like a right of passage or something in America. Over here, it's an only-if-necessary procedure... If you HAVE to get it done, i say go to the dentist and get an xray and see whether the teeth are growing in a bad angle. if they're ok, wait till the teeth have grown out a bit before you go for removal or else the pain and surgery will be way more invasive.

Pain in my right temple: Wisdom teeth?

Sounds like you need a root canal if you left that cavity rotten for 4 years. You are young save your tooth since that tooth will affect others if extracted. Or if you have it extracted you need to replace with a bridge or implant, both over $3,500. A root canal can cost you about $1,000. The ones close by tend to spread and the one on top tend to come out. Not a good approach and not at 17.

Don't forget to negotiate the price.

My top wisdom tooth becoming too long for mouth?

Wisdom teeth do keep growing in instances where you have had the one above or below out and there is nothing to stop it. This is happening to me but it isn't a problem at the moment. When it is, it will have to be taken out. In the meantime, I have 3 suggestions that you may find helpful:

1. Go and get one of the boil and bite mouth guards that is used for people who suffer from bruxism. You can find different kinds at any drugstore, Walmart or from an online retailer like Amazon. They range in price but there is a reasonably inexpensive guard called 'The Doctor's Night Guard Advanced Comfort' which you place in boiling water thus loosening the plastic which you then place in your mouth and it molds to your teeth. This is very similar to one that you would pay hundreds of dollars for from a dentist. I compared the results of mine to one that cost $600 that my mother in law has and they are almost identical. This will prevent you from causing damage to this sensitive area during sleep by biting down. You can wear these during the day but I am thinking that you can use your will power to keep your teeth slightly apart.

2. Get an oral pain reliever, which can be purchased in a drugstore or Walmart. This will give temporary relief from the pain and also help to protect the area from becoming infected. One I have used is called 'Orabase' and it is made by Colgate. It comes in a small tube which I found next to the floss.

3. If you have a regular dentist, go and approach them and explain your situation. You might be surprised at the help that they may offer, which could include giving you the treatment now and settling up later or offering treatment at a reduced fee that can be paid off over several months. It is advisable to get this checked out by a professional sooner rather than later incase it is something else.

I hope that this helps.

My wisdom teeth need to come out but my job won’t let me take the time off work that I’d need for recovery. What can I do?

I will get fired if I have the surgery and take more than a day to come back to work. I can’t pay for the surgery if I get fired. If I don’t get the surgery I will continue to be in terrible pain. What do I do?
