Mystery Pain In Stomach. Ideas

Unbearable stomach pain?

I'm a 16 year old girl that has worked at mcdonalds since april and I sometimes come home from work with a horrible stomach pain. I have acid reflux and my mom tries to assure me its only that but my medicine doesn't help or keep an 'attack', I call it, from coming. I take my medicine on a daily basis. Anyways, it starts by me getting very light headed at work as if I could pass out. Luckily its always close to when I get off. When I get home I sit down and don't bother eating anymore because before I would always throw up. When I walk, I have to bend over because it hurts to have my stomach straight, or flat. I never throw up until I lay down though which is odd I think. Once I lay down in my bed, It takes a few minutes and I'll be throwing up. The vomit is any color, from white to yellow to green sometimes even. Those only happen after I throw up my food. I won't feel back to normal until about 36 hours later at the earliest. But basically what I want to know is, is this my acid reflux (pain is NOT heart burn at all) or something else? Does anyone else have this & should I go see a doctor about it. Thanks everyone xoxo

Mystery illness! Can you diagnose it? (It's stumping doctors)?

@Merry

Yes; I was actually tested for allergies (not potatoes or soda; I just know they make me sick) and I show none at all. I went to an allergist and they scratched my back and everything. They made the point that I can be intolerant without being allergic, though, which made me more open to the idea of cutting those foods out of my diet. Drinking soda and eating potatoes WILL make me sick even though I don't show allergic, so I avoid them.

My diet was, for about 3 months, completely free of all allergens. Everything from scratch, no peanuts, no fish, no dairy, eggs, no anything. I am extremely attentive, so I do know that for at least that time, I was completely free of all allergens. Yes! I ate 5 things only. I am a vegetarian, so I had kidney beans instead of turkey.

Digestive trouble and mental fog largely disappeared with that diet, and weight dropped off. After 3 months free of problems, and with much better, but still very low, energy, I thought that was long

Is consciousness the last real mystery to science, in that we don't even know how to think about it?

Science is always generating new mysteries, and probably always will. It’s only because of the egocentricity of the human race that some people regard understanding how we work as more important than understanding, say, dark matter. But consciousness becomes a lot less mysterious once you stop thinking about consciousness as an object we ‘have’, and start thinking of it as a process—something we ‘do’—instead. It also helps to demystify it if we stop thinking in terms of all-or-nothing consciousness and regard human consciousness as one point on a spectrum which extends down to quite simple animals, including the octopus.Octopus research shows that consciousness isn’t what makes humans specialAnd thirdly, it’s important to realise that consciousness ‘feels’ different from the inside to the way it looks on the outside, and probably always will. But so do stomach pains and dreams, and nobody regards them as particularly mysterious.Daniel Dennett has done a great deal of work on how ‘we’ understand consciousness, and the areas in which we seem to be quite wrong in our most common assumptions. And the amount of progress we’re making is very encouraging. By the end of this century we will probably be able to create simple artificial consciousnesses.Whether you count that as ‘understanding’ them or not is a personal choice that doesn’t particularly matter.

Indescribable chest pain?

Ok like this has happened to me probably about 10 times in a 3 year radius. I get this chest pain that starts at the top and works its way to the bottom...it feels like a severe charlie horse in my chest and then it gets very hard to breathe properly. It feels localized to the right and left chest, but not in the middle at all. If memory serves me correctly most of the times it has happened I was drinking alcohol and may I add a high alcohol content beverage. It has never happened when I have drank beer just with liquor or vodka...I am 22 years old and this started at age 19. I dont drink often. I do smoke cigarettes however. I have been to the hospital about this the first night it happened because it happened 4 times in a row that night...when it happens it last for about 20 minutes and then lets loose, but noticed any little thing may trigger it again after the first time. The hospital said it wasnt a heart attack...they did a cat scan and x rays and found nothing....so kind of a mystery here and was wondering if anyone could take a guess at what this is...Im so tired of getting the run around...Ive had one doctor say severe acid reflux, but I know what acid reflux feels like and it aint anything like what I have described...of course this doctor didnt give me a chance to describe the whole thing...what Im feeling now doesnt burn or anything like that...just feels like the worst charlie horse you could imagine...and the next day it feels like the inside of my chest is severely bruised and it hurts to cough or laugh...and even talk sometimes....thats the aftermath of what happens...so it makes me want to go to the doc but im scared they will find nothing once again....has anyone else experienced anything else like this or is there anyone out there thats a nurse or doc that may have any idea what this could be....I am afraid if I keep letting this happen there may be some bad consequences.

Is it a bad idea to mix Aspirin, Paracetamol and Ibuprofen as long as you stick to the right dosages?

Wow, there is a lot of misinformation here. Let me see if I can try to clear it up:

1. It is incorrect make an analogy between NSAIDs and opiod analgesics. The dosages and side effect profiles are completely different. Their risks to any average patient are completely different.

2. These are three different drugs with similar, though distinct effects:

a. Aspirin irreversibly inhibits COX-1 and modifies the enzymatic activity of COX-2. This combination is what provides the pain relief, anti-inflammatory effects, and blood-thinning properties of aspirin (which is why ulcers may develop).

b. Ibuprofen is not aspirin. It modifies COX-2 as well, and COX-1 to a *much* lesser extent. Ibuprofen also provides pain relief and anti-inflammatory effects, but fewer effects on the platelets.

c. Acetaminophen is still a bit of a mystery, although one popular idea is that it works through COX-3. This is why it has no blood-thinning properties and has almost no GI issues.

3. Both aspirin and ibuprofen are analgesic, antipyretic, and anti-inflammatory. However anti-inflammatory effects are only seen at very large doses used chronically (2-3g/day), well over what most manufacturers recommend. That's why the larger doses are prescription only. They both have the ability to reduce platelet function, though aspirin much more so at lower doses. This makes ibuprofen a safer (though not completely) choice than aspirin, with respect to ulcer formation.

4. Tylenol is an analgesic and antipyretic. It has no anti-inflammatory or antiplatelet activity. However, in larger doses (or in alcoholics) it can be toxic to your liver. It should be limited to less than 4g/day for healthy folks or less than 2g/day for people who consume 2+ alcoholic drinks per day.

5. The safest, most effective combination therapy has been shown to be alternating doses of ibuprofen and acetaminophen, while not exceeding recommended maximum daily dose.

Ultimately, the question that pops into my mind is, why do you feel the need to take so much pain medication to begin with?

Mid back/rib pain from running?

Hi.First, it is still a big mystery to many physiologists and doctors as to what is the real cause of stomach cramps. The experts have theorized that the common side cramp is caused by the exertion that running and bouncing forces inside the abdominal walls. Basically, your stomach and other organs - like the spleen and liver - bump into each other as your feet jar the ground causing connective tissue to stretch on the nerves and cause pain. This connective tissue is also attached to your diaphragm which helps with breathing. This pain is usually on the right side and just under the ribs.

Ways to Prevent or Lessen the Pain of the Common Side Stitch:

1) Do not Run on a Full Stomach

You shouldn't drink large amounts of water or eat 2-4 hours before exercise. Sip small amounts (1-2 swallows) before and during exercise and wait to fully re-hydrate until after the workout. Dehydration can cause cramping as well, so do not ignore water/Gatorade during running. Always sip a few swallows at regular intervals if running for more than 30 minutes and in hot temperatures.

2) Decrease Pace and Breath Deeply

Decrease fast pace for a few minutes and continue deep breathing techniques during running. A common running sequence is a three step inhale and two step exhale pattern. Slowing down your pace will allow for you to keep up with that pattern. As you increase to near maximum speed, your breathing will become more labored. However, you can push through the pain and keep your pace if you concentrate on breathing deep by pushing your stomach out when you inhale and relaxing it as you exhale.

3) Pre-Stretch With Side Torso Twists

Pre-stretch before running by doing side torso twists. One of the best ways to pre-stretch the area is to lift your arms over your head and lean to the left and right at the waist.

4) Perform Lower Back and Abdominal Exercises

Do more lower back and abdominal exercises

Please answer! 10points?? ?

Im sooo confused! Answers and opinions please? So, Ive asked on here a couple times before. I keep getting nauseous, sore breasts, nipple changes (bumps, larger areoulas, slighlt color changes), bloated, lower back pain, random stomach cramps, pee more frequently, constipation. All since the middle of last month, my last normal period was June 11-16. I always start light cramp horribly and then bleed super heavy for 3-4 days. I wasnt supposed to start until 7/9 but I started bleeding on 7/4 very lightly, not even a half a pad a day, light dull cramps, no blood clots, for 5 days. My period tracker says I should start again on the 29th. (My periods are ALWAYS normal and on time so its odd for me to have started early and bled so lightly,) I took on test on 6/27 and it was negative i took another on 7/9 negative and I took one 7/14 and 7/16 both negative. The only reason I am so confused is because I still keep having symptoms but negative tests! I just dont feel normal. My mom also had the exact same symptoms when she was prego with me along with the bleeding for 5 days. My husband and I have unprotected sex regularly ( no pulling out either) If you could give me some info or advice on if I should test again, just wait or do a blood test? Cause I have no idea at this point! My husband thinks Im crazy, but I just feel like something in my body is diff, especially with all the symptoms. (Also been craving pasta, and orange juice and donuts.) TY

Avoiding Work: What is the easiest illness to fake in front of a doctor so you can get him to write you a note so that you won't have to go to work for the next couple of days?

I’ve had several staff & co-workers fake illnesses before. Back Pain, migraine and PMS are the easiest to fake, but if you are planning to be a liar, just remember that the consequences of your deceit can follow you for years after you’ve enjoyed your ill-gotten days off.Back Pain: Two of my staff were so blatant about it that they even went to see the doctor together and took sick days together. They were in their late forties and always complained of chronic back pain. We knew it was fake. These two ladies worked on shift and at first, they always had back pain when they were rostered to do front desk duties. Then we instituted a policy that if someone covered a colleague’s front desk duty, they had to be “paid back”. The two fakers promptly only fell ill when they were not on front desk duty. They were culled in a retrenchment exercise.Feeling Under The Weather: One of my bosses was sympathetic to those who worked in high-stress teams. So when a staff wasn’t feeling good and wanted to stay home to rest, she didn’t mind. A few hours later, the boss comes to the office in a fury. She had gone to the shops during her lunch hour and ran into Mr Not-Feeling-Well who was happily shopping with his family. The Useful Parents: An ex-coworker had run out of excuses of his own - fever, mysterious aches and pains, hangover, lost wallet, lost passport, lost memory (he forgot when his vacation ended). So he started using his parents: elderly father not feeling well, mentally ill mother throwing a tantrum. We knew it was all faked because all the days that he missed work were the days when his project deadlines were due.
