What are the best and worst 'The' band names?
When I was in high school, I used to go to these rock shows one Friday a month at the Arts center. Sometimes it was because my own band was playing, other times we just went as audience members. I remember the first one of these shows I ever went to had a band called The Wednesday Knights. I thought that was pretty clever, even though musically, the band was basically The Strokes.Some other good ones from those shows were:Six Day SlideHaloburn (two guesses which genre they were)Smite the RighteousThe Young LeavesNot all of these bands were good musically, but the names were tactfully chosen.Some of the worst band names?Idiocity Killed the CatWhen the Dogs ComeThose two were bands of mine (actually, the second one only did two full-band performances, and one was an audition for the second, but still). I`m at least proud to say I didn`t come up with either one.
Who are the five worst punk bands to have plagued rock?
LOL. I like your top five (and your assessment of Fat Mike). I was a fan of NOFX for a while, but then got really burnt out on them. Now, I'm giving them a little more respect after meeting Eric Melvin (he is a very cool guy). My Top 5: 1. The Casualties - Just when the stereotype is starting to die, they make it their mission to bring back the "manual on how to be punk." This is as irritating as it gets, the genre can't grow with this narrow minded view. (this overshadows their music) 2. Good Charlotte - Set the pop-rock standard (and yes, more so than Green Day) 3. X - They once said the Misfits are everything that's wrong with punk. Wow! Once a "punk" band says that, "I'm a self-loather" should be branded on their fore-heads (but I'm biased, Misfits are one of my long-time favorites). Never tell someone how to be Punk!!! See #1 4. Blondie - They are fine as a new wave band, I like them. But I don't think the association between New Wave and Punk is good. This band is one of the biggest causes of that association. 5. Sex Pistols - I could write a book on this. But I will say that if you were to seriously sit down and compile a pro vs con list on this band. You would come to the conclusion that we would have been better off without the "Masterpiece of Marketing." ***rckets: I wouldn't debate that. It would be like trying to explain to me why Gogol Bordello doesn't matter. You can't debate the worth of a band with one of their fans. It would end in the recitation of Minor Threat song titles (including Seeing Red, Screamin' At A Wall, and I Don't Wanna Hear It).

With so many awful bands that make terrible music. Which ones do you hate the most? BQ: Your least favorite song by a band that you listed. My Answer: 10, Jonas Brothers 9, Asia 8, Toto 7, Jefferson Starship 6, Fall Out Boy 5, The Black Eyed Peas 4, Nickelback 3, BrokeNCYDE 2, Creed 1, Limp Bizkit BQ: Rollin' by Limp Bizkit, Any Bizkit song makes my ears bleed.
IS Metallica the Worst band ever, or what?
Seriously.... all you hear is how bad they suck, how they sold out after the Black Album (some would say after And Justice For All). They aren't like the rest of the Big 4, who have stayed AWESOME all this time right? I mean MEGADETH never slowed down, cuz Cryptic Writings, Risk, teh World Needs a Hero and the System has Failed were all amazing cutting edge masterpieces.... right? Oh...they weren't? Risk was actually one of the worst Metal Albums of the 90s? Huh. Well, surely ANTHRAX? You mean they haven't done squat worthwhile since Persistence of Time? SLAYER will save ....oh... wait..they haven't turned out a truly noteworthy album since Seasons in the Abyss.. and Tom sounds like crap these days. And wait... how about Non Thrash Bands? Yep..Iron Maiden released No Prayer for the Dying, Virtual XI, and the X Factor, which all sucked... and Fear of the Dark, which besides it title track was average. Or Nine Inch Nails which has done nothing since the Fragile. So... I guess my question is... why Does MEtallica get singled out for such a special brand of hate? Is it because they were SO good that people cannot handle the fall? Is it jsut the "Cool" thing for idiot kids who really got know clue what they are talking about to do now, or is there some other reason? What do YOU think?
