Need A Photographer In Singapore

How old do you have to be to be a photographer?

As an employee, you need to gain the confidence of a prospective employer that you can do the job.

If you are talking about doing it on your own you need to gain the confidence of the client. It would also be helpful to be old enough to sign a contract (18). For weddings you also need to be able to manage dynamic situations, deal with people who may feel they know more that you do, or may have been drinking.

There is nothing to say you can't do it, but you do also have to recognize that age is a handicap. It tells people that you don't have the experience. So you have to start from there and convince them that you have the skill, especially if you are going to be trusted with something like a wedding that can't be redone.

How many wedding photographers are in the UK?

There are somewhere in the neighbourhood of 50K wedding photographers in the UK. (This is extrapolated data using those registered as a business and estimating a number who are smaller part time operations - "weekend warriors'). The market is extremely saturated as I am sure anyone can tell you. However, that doesn't mean you can't do it if you are willing to work hard (VERY HARD) in a profession where people assume you sit around all day just taking a few 'snaps' occasionally - and make a very average income at it. The problem is that many people underestimate the workload, the competitiveness, the dedication and most importantly - the income. The average UK wedding photographer will make somewhere around £25K a year and will spend May - October working 60-80 hour weeks at very 'unsociable' hours. The most important thing to know is not the number of photographers - but the amount of dedication it will take to infiltrate a saturated market. Those of us who work regularly and make decent money (not much outside of the figure listed above - but okay enough) have to constantly evolve and improve. Always staying one step ahead of the pack....

Do I need a business license to sell photography?

The issue comes down to what exactly constitutes a 'business/ in Oregon, and whether what you will be doing meets that definition.

I'm a photographer and a wood turner, and I've sold sa few photographs and turned items. Cash transactions only, and never in craft or art shows. I don't have a business license.

But if I were to get into the routine of setting up a booth at craft/art shows, I would need to do several things:
1. Make arrangements to accept credit cards (that's a business reality, not a matter of law)
2. Register with the local tax authorities and display a tax certificate, and be prepared to charge sales tax (because here in NY, the state tax authority sends inspectors to craft/art shows to inspect those certificates and make sure that taxes are being collected)
3. Purchase liability insurance

Do I need license to work as photography in NJ?

Saying you want to work as a photographer on your own first is a very broad statement. While being "a photographer" per se does not require any kind of license, (in fact, there is no license for photography, which is why there are so many clueless camera owners today who have no idea of what they are doing trying to take people's money, but that is another topic). However, though you obviously don't consider it as such, if you are charging people money for your service, you are in essence functioning as a business, even though you don't have a storefront with your name on a sign. Depending on what kind of work you are trying to get, many people will not take you seriously or hire you at all if you have no business license. Also, a properly structured business will protect your assets in case a lawsuit is brought against you. You also need to have liability insurance and if you do not pay the proper taxes for any income earned, then you are facing other problems that I know will not make you happy.

So while there is no such thing as a photography license in the sense of a beautician or real estate agent or physician needing a license, having a business license serves other needed purposes.

I truly wish there was a required photography license before anyone could charge people to take photos. It would put a stop to all these fools who own a camera but are completely unqualified to be charging people for poor services. All the "photography businesses" on Facebook are shining examples of just how stupid and naive an otherwise sensible grown adult can be.

It is always a good idea to get in contact with a local chapter of SCORE, which is a resource partner of the US Small Business Administration that offers free counseling and resources to people interested in starting or growing a small business. A good way to get the information and advice you need about such things as a business license, tax liability, accounting, business structure, insurance needs, etc.

Is it cheaper to get a wedding photo shoot overseas or in Singapore? Which countries are well known for a wedding photo shoot?

Photography packages depends on a lot of factors: the reputation of the photographer, their length of experience, portfolio, how many hours would it be for? There are packages for 2 hours and others for 8 or 9 hours. I think what would make it expensive or cheap is the currency exchange rate against SGD plus you need to consider airfare and accommodations. If you are in Singapore I would recommend Japan, South Korea, Taiwan. In Kyoto for example, the bride-to-be can play dress up maiko or geisha. Couples can rent a kimono and go around the shrines and historic places like Gion. The area around Higashiyama and Arashiyama are very picturesque. Seoul is also very nice especially around autumn. The global wedding marketplace iBride have professional photographers and videographers in 129 countries so it’s a good place to start looking.

How old do you have to be to be a nude photographer?

Legally, you need to be an adult. Not only due to the nudity issue, but you should also have a contract with the model that spells out the photo usage rights that is clearly understandable (and minors cannot enter into a binding contract).

Looking at it from the clients side, I think [at least] 21 would be a more preferable age. 18 is still looked at as an "immature" stage of life. A lot of women may not feel comfortable being nude in front of someone who just got out of high school.

Someone asked a relevant question dealing with nude/lingerie/maxim style photography a while ago, and to me, it goes along with this "age" question http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...

Is drone photography real estate worth it?

Whether you use drone photos and video to help market your listings is purely a matter of preference, however, some homes work better with drone photos than others.I’ve been flying drones for real estate photos and videos for a few years now and have learned unequivocally that the roof of a house looks pretty much like any other roof, which basically means that you want to rule out any photos from directly on top. At 4K resolution you also have to be conscientious of glare and reflections when you get too low an angle. While thinking through all these things, you also need to be aware that not every neighbor wants you buzzing in their airspace - legally or not.So what are drones good for? Simple: for large homes and land they work out wonderfully well because they allow you to see everything from overhead and from points that you might not otherwise consider. They provide scale and perspective to what might otherwise just look like a home. Note that when referring to land, it means clear land - you also can’t fly your drone in heavy winds, which means many mountainside homes may be limited as to what you can produce.I’ve also been collecting community/neighborhood/city footage as much as possible to use as stock images. Allows you to add a little to your videos without having to re-fly every single time. That is just a small sampling of what may make it worthwhile.
