Need Help In Writing An Email

Need help writing an email to my professor?

I would almost say it would be better for you to go talk to your professor- he/she will be able to see that you are hurting when you explain what has been going on. Whereas in an email it is hard to infer emotion. Or maybe send an email, and then stop by his/her office and ask if they got the email.

Dr. ______,

I would like to apologize for not being able to attend class this past week (or 2 etc). My absences were due to a death in my family. Also, because of this, I was unable to turn my paper in on time. I know that it is completely at your discretion, however, if this event had not occurred, I would have submitted my paper on time. I have not had usual difficulties completing my work on time; this was an extenuating circumstance that I had no control over. I would like to know if it would be possible to have an extension? If you are not certain you could allow an extension, could I please meet with you during your office hours to discuss this further; I do not want my performance in this class to adversely suffer.

Thank you,

Need help writing this?

Write an email to the editor of your local newspaper or school publication about an issue with which you are concerned. First, find a focus by brainstorming, webbing, freewriting, researching, or journal writing. Plan your letter by choosing the main points you’ll make. Organize your thoughts with an outline or web. Write a first draft. Then revise, proofread, and present the letter to your intended audience.

Need help writing an email to my boss for pay?

I had a workstudy job and I was contacted stating that my time sheet wasn't processed and wasn't given a salary for the week because I went over the allotted hours I was awarded. Now I am on my summer break and have to ask my boss to fill out a form so that the time sheet may be processed for payment. I need to make the email sound polite and not so demanding.

Hi _____,

How are you? Sorry to bother you. I received an email regarding the last time sheet I filled out. It seems that I went over the awarded hours. I was wondering if you could help me fill out and submit the Bursary Request Form so I can get paid.

Thank you so much. I appreciate it.

Sincerely

Can anyone help me write an email?

While Milennials typically prefer texting, the improvised, back-and-forth pattern we expect of texting conversations differs greatly from the pre-planned, more self-contained messages most office workers expect when exchanging emails with professional contacts. The parties in a text message conversation expect multiple rapid exchanges, asking for clarification and providing corrections on the fly. Generally, you are texting somebody you already know well, about a shared interest, so you don’t need to provide much context, and the subject of the conversation will evolve quickly.

Need help writing an email requesting a meeting with advisor?

I want to meet with my advisor and see what classes I have taken that go towards my major and what classes I need to take, and what I can do to finish in 4 years since I only have a scholarship from the school for 4 years and it would probably take me more than 4 years. I don't know how to start and request a meeting without being informal, or rude. Please help!

Writing an email to my teacher?

Megan,

First of all, using correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation would be helpful. I'm sure your mother doesn't use "I kno" when communicating.

Second, don't. Here's how this will play out: You'll write the email, and then your teacher or Mom will find out. They always do; it's inevitable. Now, instead of being able to say, "I really don't have a problem -- I'm okay," your teacher and/or Mom will think something is really wrong since you tried to cover it up.

As a teacher, my advice is to take a little visit to your guidance counselor. Tell him or her what's going on, explain that you're fine and not depressed, then ask him or her to speak to your teacher. This way, you're addressing the issue and not lying or covering it up.

As Mark Twain once said, "If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything." If you don't trust me, trust him. He was on to something.

What are some tips for writing a proper/polite email?

We just created a course about how to write customer service emails and those points can be applied with most emails we send to our colleagues or customers. Here are some things to always remember while writing emails:Address the recipient by their name no matter what the tone of the email is (angry or otherwise). If the recipient started the conversation, don’t forget to thank them for reaching out.Be detailed in your email. Don’t leave your recipient guessing. Link everything that can be linked instead of expecting them to Google stuff.Check for grammar (use MS Word or Grammarly), broken links, correct code and attachment. For a more detailed explanation of these points, watch this video. You can remember to do a few more things if you want to make your emails memorable to the recipient. Every exceptional email has 5 ingredients.1. Convenience - Make it easy to read. Use screenshots and format the email so it is easy on the eyes. Make sure that you don’t make the email lengthy. If there is a lot of information you want to communicate, write it as a document and attach it.2. Anticipation - Predict what the recipient will need next. Anticipate follow up questions and provide answers to them in your email.3. Simplicity - Don’t fill the email with jargon or technical terms. Write the email in the language your recipients will understand.4. Personality - Show some of your personality in the email. Even if it is supposed to be formal, some personality will make the email more memorable.5. Sincerity - Only say things you mean in the email. Insincere emotions in email shows. For a more detailed explanation of these points, watch this video.Hope you find these points helpful :)
