Need Some Advice Changing Basketball Position

Need basketball roster advice?

I think you're good..
I don't like to be GOOD in every category; I'd rather be STRONG in 6,
or 7 categories..You do this by stacking your team at certain positions.I like to stack my teams with BIGS+PGs,and cary a minimal amount of SGs+SFs (Alot like your team is already.)

You're not gonna win every category very often per week, but you need a majority of categories you can count on being strong in week in,and week out.And there will be surprise players that rise up,and/or players will get dumped that you can grab to enhance your team strengths throughout the season. So don't think you have to change your team all around now..Have confidence, and patience with the players you picked, and you'll have a good season.(It's a marathon, not a sprint!)

Why am I so bad at shooting a basketball?

Make sure your not making yourself uncomfortable with your shot. That's the only piece of advice i can give you besides practicing. Make minor adjustments but dont change up your shot completely to the point it's uncomfortable. Tweak your shot. I was working on the flick when the ball gets out of my hand. So I would just keep doing my normal shot but emphasize the flick at the end of my release a lil more and then it became natural but it was still my shot, I just improved it. Only way to make your shot better is practice, if there was one secret technique everyone would be shooting like Curry. It's a god given gift, but there's no saying that it can't be improved. I would also check if your letting your guide hand go too early. There's a thing MJ used to do that might be a placebo but it helps me when I shoot. Just take the ball, look directly up and basically pretend to shoot the ball and make it go straight up and land on your nose. Try to keep it perfectly straight. Then maybe do some FTs and it really focuses on your release. Hope any of this helped.

I play basketball and I've lost my jumpshot. Any advice of how to get it back?

The basics of putting your shot together involve getting the correct grip (first finger in the center of the ball and off hand to the side of the ball), body position (feet pointing to the rim), set up (elbow at an "L", forearm lined up to the center of the rim), and follow through (lift so that the elbow is above the eyebrow and held in place until the ball hits the basket).

Shooting (basketball): How long does it take to develop consistent form on a jumpshot?

The time it takes for you to:1) find the line of power for the ball to go from your hip to L-shaped elbow and to the followthrough 2) discover the body rhythm which allows your arms and legs to go up simultaneously3) hammer it home with enough repetitions to ensure consistencyLearning how to shoot a basketball was THE greatest struggle I had playing the game for 9 years. I've sought out all sorts of materials on the topic, from YouTube videos to buying basketball shooting programs only to be ruined by inconsistency on my jump shot. I began buying in to the bullshit that my biased coach and hyper-competitive teammates said about some people are shooters while some are not. After a while, people came to me seeking help on improving their shooting form, as I was always able to give quick, actionable tips that improved their results immediately. It was only through coaching others that I realised that each individual's musculature was crucial in determining the form of the shot. At the point when I started to learn how to shoot, I had overdeveloped shoulders and upper back muscles, hence I tended to shrug my shoulders, which disrupted the transfer of power from my legs to my shooting shoulder. In fact, I only became fully cognizant of this flaw in mechanics when Kobe Bryant tore his rotator cuff back in January.I shall not go into technicalities here, as I believe that is easily obtainable from most online and book sources. There are some mechanics which are universal though:1) shooting hand on top of the ball when gathering for the shot --> ensures shot goes in a straight line2) forming the triple 90 degrees at 1) your wrist 2) elbow 3) where your arm connects to your shoulder3) bent kness to generate power from the HIPSWith those mechanics in mind, the final key to putting it all together is rhythm (point 2 above). Here's one of the best tips from Klay Thompson, which is to "envision water going from my toes to my fingertips in one motion".Also, watch great shooters. I would recommend dell curry (steph and seth's curry's father) because more replicable mechanics, but find someone you like and observe them as much as possible.Let me know if this works for you!

How do I talk to my coach about switching position?

I've been playing saftey for about 2 years and I am not satisfied with it. I dont even enjoy games playing that position .So I want to give reciever another shot. I played reciever my first season I played football but my coach decided to move me to saftey. But the thing is we are half way through the season, he's a serious but really cool coach. Should I ask ? If so how should I approach him with this and how do I ask? Please help!

What are some basketball tips for short people?

I'm six feet tall and there are a few things short players do that bother the heck out of me. I hate to spread information like this, but fair's fair. The first tip I would give is to get really close to your defender and be in his face. Be frantic, reach for the ball, and make sure that if he shoots, you will be on top of him. If you give a guy who's significantly taller than you any sort of space, he will drain it. You don't want that. Get up in his grill - I'm talking basically chest to chest contact - this bothers me a lot. Second, and this goes mostly for short stockier people - is if a bigger guy tries to play you in the post, squat down and use your lower center of gravity against him. I've gotten out-posted by plenty of people shorter than me, who simply were able to lock themselves into a post spot that I couldn't budge them from. This kills taller peoples' offense. If you're on offense, there's much less luck as a short person. The thing I would say to utilize most is fakes: get your defender jumping and then score when he's coming back down. The first play by Rajon Rondo in this video is what you want:Second, you could also try a classic layup technique by shorter people: jump directly into your defender, take the contact while protecting the ball, and then lay it in when your defender is on his way down. Something like this:Tyler Johnson doesn't exactly protect the ball well here while he's going up, but it shows what I'm trying to say - you gotta jump into your defender with reckless abandon and get good at finishing with contact. Either that, or call the foul :)

I want to tryout for JV Basketball but I've never played on a team before.?

I've always played basketball at the park and people there have told i'm pretty good and that I should play high school ball. However since i've never played on a team I don't know how well my skills will translate, any tips on how I should go about in tryouts and on the team if I make it? Thanks
