Network Connection Problem - Computer 1 Was Disconnected Because Of Computer 2

If a computer is connected to a network/internet by both ethernet (LAN) and wifi, will that cause any problems?

There should be no problem. A computer can have any number of network interfaces. Windows will automatically identify which can be used to access internet and how fast and reliable are the connections (speed, latency, packet drops…) and assign a metric to that connection. If some packets can be routed through multiple connections then the connection with lower metric will have higher priority. For information on how the metric is assigned see An explanation of the Automatic Metric feature for IPv4 routesIf you want you can also assign a metric manuallySetting network adapter metric priority in Windows 7How to give preference over one network connection over another? How to Change the Priority of Wired/Wireless Network Cards in WindowsHowever sometimes Windows will disconnect wifi if the computer was connected to ethernet. In this case just connect to the wifi manually once again then later it’ll automatically be connected without user intervention any more.Nevertheless there may be some cases that both connects to different networks that use the same IP range and cause a conflict. In this case you might need to change the address range of one network and it’ll be fineHere’s the result on my computer. As you can see I’m connecting to both ethernet and wifi, both have internet connection, and both belongs to different networksOnce it’s done, speed and reliability are often improved. That said, this isn’t a magic way to increase your internet speed if you really have two separate connections (like from 2 ISPs). The solution is to use Load balancing, but even in that case the speed to a single server might not increase, because connection can only go through one line

I can't connect my PC with WiFi but my phone is connected. What is the problem? Is it with my WiFi or my PC?

Recently I have faced the exact problem in my PC. I was also not able to figure out what exactly the problem is because WiFi was connected to my phone but my PC was unable to connect the same WiFi connection. In my device solution to this particular problem was quite unique. For this problem I followed these steps, you can try the same: -Firstly go to device manager.Select the network adaptersChoose wifi driver option and right click on the option. After that uninstall the WiFi driver rather than updating driver software. Now reboot/restart your system. And then download & install the latest WiFi driver for your PC.Restart/reboot your pc then. Now you’ll be able to connect your PC to WiFi.It helped me. It can solve your problem too. And if It doesn't work with your PC, ping me.Edit:Many people are asking me how to download the latest WiFi driver on your pc. When you will uninstall the driver of your PC, there will be no net connection obviously. So in that case you need to use your mobile connection to download the latest WiFi driver or you can also use your friend’s PC to download the latest WiFi driver.Find out your specific PC model.Search for its WiFi driver on its website. Then choose the WiFi driver and download it from there.Use a flash drive to transfer the downloaded driver file and transfer it your PC and install it.For an example I’m using HP Pavilion Notebook - 15-ab032tx laptop these days. From the Network Drivers list, I selected wireless driver, and downloaded it using my phone data connection.HP Software and Driver Downloads for HP Printers, Laptops, Desktops and More

DHCP is not enabled for Wireless Network Connection?

Hi There,
Good description of the problem.

Here is what I would do to try to find and fix the problem:

1. In the Win 7 computer (the one with the problem) click the windows logo (start button) and search for "services" to open up the Services dialog box.
Work your way down the long list and make sure that all the services that pertain to DHCP Client, DHCP Client, IP Helper, Network Connections, Network Location Awareness, TCP/IP NetBIOS, and WLAN Autoconfig are set to automatic and are started. Link below to Black Viper's site showing recommended service info.

2. If / when the appreciate services are set up try to connect again. If you can not connect go to "networks" and try to set up your wireless network connection again. Be sure the password is correct, etc. That may work (or not).

IF Not:
3. Log into your router's configuration and if "MAC filtering is enabled make sure your computer's MAC address is included in the "allowed" addresses. If it is not then enter the MAC address for your computer.

It is very possible the problem suddenly happened because someone turned off a service needed to connect or set up the router with MAC Address Filtering and did not add your computer to the list.

Hope this helps,
Al

Windows 7 network adapter problems.?

So we just reinstalled Windows 7 on our computer that already had Windows 7 on it due to a virus and a system restore and blahdy blahdy blah. long story short, now that we reinstalled it, we couldnt connect to the internet. we have Comcast Home Internet, with a Linksys and all that, and our laptop that connects to it wirelessly (the one im on now) works just fine, as you might have guessed. when i go on to my computer and attempt to connect, it helpfully advises us to "re-install the driver" if i have a network adapter. OK windows, i see how it is. I have a network adapter, but to re-install it would require me to go on the internet and download it; where the internet is the type of driver i need to fix. everythings plugged in just fine and i really cant understand why it wont work.

ugh, as if re-formatting and redownloading everything we've ever done ever wasnt enough. i bet this is all comcasts fault too. (i hate you, Comcast.)

Connecting 2 ethernet cables on a one slot ethernet modem?

ok i have 2 cables one for my xbox live and one for my internet computer. my modem only has one ethernet slot. so i have to switch it everytime i want to use one thing. if i wanna use my xbox live i have to disconnect the internet on my pc and if i wanna use the internet i have to disconnect the xbox live cable. question is. is there a way to connect both cables at the same time so that i can use the internet while playing on xbox live? most of you are gonna answer "get a router" but thats the problem i dont want to buy expensive routers. i heard that ethernet cable splitters work. will this work in my case?

also how do you connect a router anyway? connect the two lines on a router? wtf? i have no idea what a router does.

When I connect to my Internet router through wireless, it says limited access and I can't connect to the Internet. How do I fix this?

Let's  try to understand the problem first. You are getting message of Limited Access when you are connected to your wi-fi. It means you are connected to your Router but there is no internet or there is internet but your computer isn't able to recieve that. It means your LAN card is working fine. Now we have 3 different steps to fix this issue but before going further just restart your computer. 1. Disconnect your computer from your wifi and re-connect it. If this works then no need to follow other steps. 2.Go in Start menu and search CMD or Command Prompt. A black window will be pop up on your screen. You need to type further commands : ipconfig/release then press enter, ipconfig/renew then press enter, netsh winsock reset then press enter. Restart your computer and ta-da you have fixed your internet connectivity. 90% issue resloved by this step. Still you are facing the same issue then, follow 3rd step3. Restart your Router/gateway router. And follow step 2 before restarting and is it still doesn't work then contact your ISP (Internet Service Provider). At this point there is no issue in your computer. Because you are already connected to your network. It is just your network. I hope it helps. Thanks.

How do I fix the "No internet, secured" WiFi problem in Windows 10?

I've seen that with my own Surface Book and Surface Pro 1. The fix for me was a bit simpler…Make sure the device is completely updated and all updates were successful.Click on the offending WiFi connection (in the System Tray) and click “Forget”. Also, if you have an Ethernet cable plugged in unplug that as well.Wait until it completely disconnects from that Access Point. You should have no connection to the Internet at this point.Put the device in Airplane Mode.Reboot the device. If the device is still in Airplane Mode after rebooting take it out of Airplane Mode.Go back to the WiFi connection (in the System Tray) and connect again. DO NOT enable “Connect Automatically”.If it still says “No Internet, Secured” just wait a few minutes — it should clear up. It actually shouldn't take that long. If you prefer you can now enable “Connect Automatically” for that connection. If this fixes it for you then what has happened is simple: The “backed up” connection information has gotten garbled or corrupted and needed to be reset for that device. This used to happen to me all the time with email accounts when I was heavily involved with the Insider Program.I hope this helps!

How do i set up World of Warcraft on 2 computers using Netgear rp614v2?

For WoW you don't need to do anything special to set it up on two PCs. Just install the software on both PCs and it will access the servers over the internet. You will still need two accounts if you want to play on both computers at the same time though.

Only one account can be used at a time. If you are trying to login on 2 computers with a single account, then one will be disconnected even if they are different IPs.

As for the BG downloader problem, check here. You need to use port forwarding on your router to let the updater through.

http://www.blizzard.com/support/wow/?id=...

OK. In that case you can't port forward the same port number to more than one PC, but that should only apply to the BG downloader. There are workarounds though.

1. Create a shared folder on the PC with port forwarding enabled and then you can access it over the network and patch it from there.

2. Go into your router and edit the IP addresses so the other PC can download them, then switch them back afterwards.

As for playing the game on 2 different PCs, you should still be able to do that with different accounts. If you only get disconnected on one PC, it could be a patchy connection with that PC. In games, network problems are more pronounced since they are always accessing, but in normal web browsing sometimes you don't notice it as much. Try pinging your router repeatedly and see if there are any drops from that PC. That will show if the connection to the router is the problem.

What does "the connection has timed out mean"?

Am I wrong to think it means that all wifi have an internal timer which is tripped by one or more of the following?

1 - ram memory of computer is insufficient for the number of tasks that are actively running - so that when the wifi seeks to maintain a connection it does not get fast enough connection feedback - so the wifi disconnects

2 - wifi is trying to maintain connection to huge web page which has lot of items to be displayed - so wifi fails to get feedback from site within a set amount of time - so wifi disconnects

3 - user is running 2 browsers at same time - and is connecting to multiple pages - so volume of different connections cause slowdown in data wifi seeks - so wifi disconnects

4 - web site has too many users so site server is overloaded - so site slows down delivery of data - causing wifi to disconnect because wifi is not getting fast enough signal motion back and forth

5 - site has a timer that either limits amount of time per user - or auto-cuts connection when user has not actively done something with site page for about 15 minutes

6 - MAIN REASON: computer to site connections are intentionally designed to limit amount of data that can be transferred simultaneously

7 - user is filling out an online form too slowly - and so the site cuts the connection

Are any of these wrong? Are any of these right?

Is there a better and simpler answer?
