Any advice about this kitten? I have this 4 week old kitten and I try to pet him but be is?

always moving away from me when I reach put for him and he always hisses at me. Sometimes I'm able to catch him and pet him but he is still feisty. I don't know how to get this kitten to stop mov8ng away from me and hissing at me.

Unexpected Kittens - any advice?

She hasn't been spayed, has been out for months, and you never expected kittens? Ok... Anyway, start feeding a high quality kitten food now. Don't think Purina or Iams, think Wellness, Merrick, or EVO. She needs the extra calories and nutrients for keeping up her strength while nursing. A vet check for her would be great. She's been exposed to who knows what while she was away so you need to know if she has any diseases or infections which could affect her as well as the kittens. Start looking for homes for the kittens now but don't let them go till they're at least 8 weeks old. While you're getting mom checked at the vet, please make her a spay appointment for when the kittens are about 6 weeks old. Till then, keep her inside and away from any intact males. I'm truly happy she made it back.

I have a new kitten....?

Try bathing the kitten in warm water, and cat shampoo, NOT flea shampoo. Fleas can't swim, and if you keep the body of the kitten submerged, the fleas will go up to his head. Then you can pick/comb them off into the soapy water.

Advantage is approved for kittens 8 weeks and older, I think Revolution may be 7 weeks and older, not sure on Frontline off the top of my head. Ask your veterinarian for advice.

You can also start spraying your house, because fleas only spend about 10% of their time on the pet...the rest in your carpets, bedding, furniture.

It's important to nip this in the bud, because young kittens are prone to becoming anemic when they have a lot of fleas on them.

DO NOT use anything OTC to treat fleas, it can cause skin irritation and ulceration, seizures and death in little kittens.

I found a separated newborn kitten today, it won't eat. Advice?

I found a newborn kitten outside in pouring rain this morning. Close to the sidewalk, drenched, covered in dirt/mud, etc. I couldn't just leave the poor thing there. It meowed for it's mother as it struggled to get out of it's predicament. There was no mother or kittens around that I could see. If I had left it, no doubt it would have died there.
I gently cleaned it up as best as I could and have been keeping it warm. I went out to buy it kitty formula, warmed it just enough, and tried to feed it to my new little companion. But, therein lies the problem, and my fear. It refuses to eat... with vigor, might I add. Just won't take it. It had been through a lot, I imagined, so I let it sleep. And that is all it's really done all day. And all it's wanted to do all day.
I've asked and searched for advice and tips, and have tried to take care of it accordingly without veterinary help, which, at the moment, I can't afford. I've stimulated it every once in a while as it's mother would. Just a little while ago it took a little tinkle... a small victory for me, since I've been thinking must not have been doing anything right, and let it go back to sleep. Eating, though, right now, not going so well.
My little companion doesn't seem to be weak for it's age. It's eyes are still shut, but he/she moves around fine and puts up a good fight NOT to eat, so, I take that as it being a hell of a trooper... only, it can't be a hell of a trooper for long without eating. It's been all day that it hasn't eaten. I'm worried for my new son/daughter, I've already grown attached. I think it'll grow up with an attitude, that little one, if it wants to live.
How can I go about this in my situation? I have tried wetting it's little mouth, putting the bottle's nipple in it's mouth, etc, and it has, once or twice, actually, momentarily stopped to taste it. Then it's like it's reminded that "Oh, right, I'm trying to be a pain in the ***."
I'm genuinely worried for the babe.

Kitten won't stop attacking me... any advice?

well, i found a stray kitten at a very young age. it was sweet and playful, would sleep next to me, and was a bit shy. after a week or so, it became very playful, play biting me and scratching me and pouncing any body part it could possibly reach. its come to a point to where i have scratches and bruises all over my legs. whenever im sitting at my desk, it'll pounce me constantly. i keep my legs and feet on the chair, have to wear shoes in my room, and tried all the techniques that were suggested. i begin to absolutely dread going in my room because of it's constant violence.. any help???

I have just got a new kitten but it is VERY nervous! How do i make it feel less nervous?

Make sure there's a place for it to rest- a box, a basket, or cage. Put it near food and fresh water. Generally, leave it alone and let it rest. It is probably very scared with it's new environment. Make sure not to raise your voice or argue with anybody else you live with. In about an hour, check whether she/he's sleeping. If the kitten is, leave it alone until her/he has woken up. If the kitten is awake, you can pet her softly, and slowly proceed to take her/he out and become closer. If she/he still seems nervous, comfort it with petting.

It's best to keep the kitten in one room until she/he is confident. Slowly introduce her to the house, one room at a time.

Good luck with your new kitten!

NEED HELP WITH NEW KITTEN 4 wks old?

ok so I bought a new kitten, female. She is only 4 weeks old, probably too old to be away from her mother, and she is also the runt of her litter. I have already gotten so attached to her and I love her to death so there's no way I will take her back, but I'm having a lot of difficulty so I need some advice on what to do. I bought her yesterday. she was nervous, VERY nervous, but I considered it normal. when I brought her home she was good for a while, she slept with me, purred all that. She got up after a little while and went diarrhea in my bed. I cleaned it up and stuff and then about 20 mins later she vomited everywhere. so I cleaned that up.. I finally put her on the ground and I stuck her in her littler box (I had tried numerous times but it hadn't worked) and finally she went to the bathroom in the litterbox but she sat in it and then proceeded to drag her **** across my bedroom, leaving a trail of poop. Pretty gross.

Anyway, I was like ok whatever she's just not potty trained, we can work on that.

but this morning she got up and I saw that she had to go to the bathroom and so I put her in the litterbox, and she tried so hard and she started whining a whole lot and it looked like it was really painful for her. she got out and nothing was there.

I googled what to do if your kitten can't poop and it said that you need to rub their areas with a wash cloth, but it said that's if they aren't capable of going at all. I tried it anyway, even though I was aware she was perfectly capable of going, but it didn't really help at all. she's just stopped up and stuff.

I bought her from the pound so I feel like she should be potty trained, you know? she had a litterbox there and everything.

So anyway if anybody knows how to deal with a constipated un-potty trained kitten too young to be away from her mom, please let me know, it would be greatly appreciated.

Getting a new kitten what should I expect?

I'm very excited to be getting a new kitten a friend of mine has a cat who just gave birth. I have been doing research and plan to ask I take the kitten at 8 wks not 6. I am also planning to get a pen for it as I work during the day. I would love some advice on getting a kitten adjusted to a new home. Is it true if you get a cat as a kitten you can sort of "condition" it to be friendly/cuddly I.e. holding it a lot letting it sleep with you? Also what age is spaying/nuetering & declawing done at? Thanks a lot!!
