The American Academy of Dramatic Arts honors application?
Colton - You are correct to be suspicious of these types of recruitment methods. My middle daughter is also being pursued by this school. She has received numerous emails from Ms. Canales and several phone calls. When I asked Ms. Canales how she received my daughter's information, my question went unanswered. This led me to believe that the American Academy of Dramatic Arts is purchasing names for recruitment purposes. This is unethical and immoral. I have left messages for Ms. Canale's supervisor, Steven Hong, the director of admissions and for Susan Zech, the president of the school asking how they received my daughter's information. None of my phone calls have been returned. Institutions of higher education cannot change the tuition based upon the date you apply. The tuition is the tuition, and cannot be raised or discounted if you apply early. This is another indication that this school is using predatory practices to entice students to apply. If you are seriously considering studying acting I recommend that you talk to your parents, your teachers, and your advisers and ask for their suggestions for schools to apply to. There are myriad colleges and universities in Canada and the US that have wonderful reputations and programs and do not rely upon scare tactics and bullying. What the American Academy of Dramatic Arts is doing to attract students is immoral and even in some instances illegal.
