Is an NFL jersey size 52 about the same size as mens large? Or would it be closer to an XL?

For example: a size 48 is about equivalent to a medium, a size 50 is about a large, a size 52 is about an XL, size 54 is about a XXL, and 60 is a XXXL. Well if you wear an XL in the replicas then a size 52 in the authentics would likely do the job. It just depends on how well that XL fits, is it loose? Or is it snug? If it is loose I would go with the 52, but if it is a snug fit, then bigger is better and go with a size 54 (XXL).
