I regret to inform you that US N64 games will not work in your Australian system, mostly because of the analog TV formats aren't the same. Australia runs on the PAL standard (used in England & other parts of Western Europe) while the US runs on the NTSC standard (using in Japan & Canada). Any attempt to play an NTSC game on a PAL system will either fail totally OR yield extremely undesirable results (making the game unplayable) unless you have some type of moderation to fix this. It's not the answer you want to hear, but it's the harsh truth you'll need to deal with.

Unfortunately because N64 was during the standard def PAL/NTSC format it won't be possible. Not only are the games most likely region locked but the display format itself does not work. A lot of people speak of modding, but that is usually modifying an NTSC console (either US or JPN) to work together (because despite being the same format there are safeguards that prevent US and JPN games to work on each other's systems). Your best bet is to either: 1.) Find the game in PAL format or 2.) Purchase an NTSC console to play that particular game and modify it to work with UK power supplies and with the correct broadcast format for your TV. Please note that these days many HDTVs are capable of displaying PAL or NTSC in a standard def mode so you may be lucky enough to already have a solution to what used to be one of the biggest importing problems. I'd go with whatever is cheaper, but it's going to unfortunately take some work.
