Not Able To Get My Car Title - No Docs Advise

Is it legal to notarize a document without the person present or knowledgeable of document signing?

The wording in the notarial certificate must be true and correct. There are different types of notarial acts. For an acknowledgement, the signer must acknowledge their signature but does not need to sign before the notary. For a sworn statement or affidavit, the signer must swear or affirm and sign before the notary. For a certified copy, the notary certifies that a copy is a true, complete and correct copy of an original document. For an oath of office, the notary administers the oath. There is no document to sign unless a written oath is required for record keeping. For a proof of acknowledgement, the signer does not need to appear or sign before the notary. Instead, a subscribing witness, who was present when the document was signed, and signed as a subscribing witness, appears before the notary and certifies that the signer signed before them. The signer might be incapacitated or deceased.A designated agent may sign for an absent principal under a power of attorney. The principal does not have to sign or appear before the notary. For a person with a disability, unable to sign, a signature by proxy allows the disabled person to appoint another person, a proxy, to sign on their behalf. In recent years, more states are passing laws to allow remote notarization using two-way audio/video connection by Internet.Notary laws vary by state.Disclaimer: I am not an attorney and this information is not legal advice.

Does anyone have advice for this garaging situation? Need help...?

Hi all,
So as I have come to figure out, Progressive is a nightmare when it comes to providing proof of garaging...I'm sure most of the internet is already aware. I have a somewhat unique situation, I've been out of the country due to a family emergency and had to select new insurance last month as my current one was expiring and too expensive.
So, now that I signed up for Progressive, they require certain documents to provide my proof of garaging. The thing is, I do live at the address I put down, but I live with a family member that doesn't require me to pay rent or have a lease. I'm also a student and don't have any utility bills, and I canceled my phone bill many months ago (long story) so I really don't have any bills or mail. I probably have a few things that I have received from time to time but nothing substantial enough.
Does anyone have advice on what to do in this particular situation? I may end up having to switch insurance since I'm not sure what other options I have at this point. Thank you for any help!

I bought a used car with a bad transmission.. advice?

Hello, : ( I didn't know anything was wrong with my car when I purchased it.

about 3 months ago, I purchase a used automatic 2002 Honda Civic by a Honda dealer. It was over 120k miles when I bought it so I couldn't get a warranty. Just 2 weeks ago, I started noticing something weird going on with the gears and I thought I just needed a tune up. I got an Oil Change and was going to schedule for a tune up the following week, but I had a mechanic check it for free and he said I needed a new transmission. I got a second opinion and he also said I needed a new transmission.
The dealership said there is nothing they can do since I purchased it "As Is". I need some advice as to what to do with the car. I got a price on a used transmission of 1,500. Not including the labor. That's about 1k too much for me : (.
This is the first car I ever bought and I brought everyone I knew with me when I bought it hoping I don't screw this up. Everyone thought it was a great car and everything checked out.
They did an over all inspection, but had no reason to go any deeper than the normal as there was no warning lights or odd noises coming from the car.

I'm shiiiiit outta luck. I bought this car with my last savings because the very old, but reliable civic my mom passed down to me was totaled when I parked it in front of my boyfriends house and some kid thought he was a tokyo drifter (no rainfall at all)and smashed into my car 7min after I got inside of it with my bf trying to decide what to eat for dinner.

I've had some crapass luck and I'd like to know if anyone has advice for me as to what I should do with the car. It is sitting at the shop collecting dust.
I don't have any money to really fix it or buy a new car and I wouldn't make much money selling it as is. What do I do? : (

What should I do? I found a questionable text on husband's cell phone?

Marriage is dead...he is probably a cheater, but maybe with another guy.,..a latent homoisexual...he is a deadbeat slob and has undiagnosed emotional and mental problems it appears.Leave tomorrow. When he is at work, take his gold and silver ( which are at all time high to sell), all the cash you can, other valuables, your stuff, your cell phone and charger, your laptop, and leave. Do not give him any idea you are leaving. If there are two cars and he leaves you with one, take it. Move where he'd not expect you to live. Have mail forwarded to a PO box where you could ask someone to get it for you. Change cell number the moment he leaves for work. Block his e-mails to you on regular email, facebook, twitter, etc. tell no one except a person who'd prose to keep this all silent. From there, you will seek a divorce lawyer. You have grounds of emotional abuse of all sorts including no sex whatsoever.

He does not love you. He has little use for you. That does not mean you aren't a good lovable person. He is mentally unstable, has depression moist likely too. Do not tell him any of this for you own sake. BTW: Is the car in your name? If so, Of the title is in your name, please take it, change all licks etc. IT IS legally yours. If he is the one who take it to work, but you have extra keys, by all means, get it when he is at work on the QT....

Before you leave, take good pictures of every room, closet, etc where you live. Make sure you show all property, including some valuables of his in draws. If he claims you tow had nothing, a judge will see HIM a liar if you produce pictures. Also photograph the car.

For your sake, leave NOW. Read The Divorce Handbook and Rebuilding When Your Relationship Ends by Bruce Fisher.

Leasing my first car?

I'm going to the dealership tomorrow to look at cars. I have my pay stubs and license, will I need to bring anything else?
I have about 15 hundred for a down payment and then 500 or so saved for plates/registration/etc and insurance.

I know you need to show proof of insurance before you leave the dealership with the car.. So I was wondering how I'm supposed to show proof of insurance before I get there if I haven't looked at cars and don't know what car I'll be leasing yet? Can they fax the information to the the dealership right away? Or will I have to wait?

This is my first car so I'm nervous I wont be prepared!

-My parents are helping me with payments, but everything will be in my name.

-are there lease to own options?

-does anyone have any advice that would be more beneficial?

I've been looking for cars everywhere!!

I am buying a second hand car from my friend whose registration is from Haryana (Gurgaon). I am from Uttar Pradesh. What documents do I need, or what is the process?

Hello! (time taken varies according to the efficiency of the RTO office).Further, If the car is Insured. You can transfer the Insurance on your name by submitting an Application for Insurance transfer and a copy of the Insurance Letter to the insurance company.Ask me if anything is still unclear. :)

What can I do if the dealership I bought my car from never gave me the title, registration and plates that I paid in full for >2 months ago?

I live in California, so I’ll reference our procedure. When you purchase a new car, the dealer will issue a temporary registration certificate. This is usually a small piece of paper, which is taped inside the window of the vehicle. It’s normally the lower, right hand side of the windshield, but can also be the back window, if it’s not too heavily tinted. This temporary registration is good for 90 days. When the dealer sells the car, they notify DMV of the sale, purchase price, lending institution and liability release. DMV will then send the title (pink slip) to the lending institution and they will send you new license plates and a registration certificate.Although 2 months seems like a long time, believe it or not, it can actually take this long, and longer for the registration to be processed. Here in California, recent budget issues have rendered the DMV severely understaffed, and transactions can take longer than they used to.If you never received the temporary registration for your vehicle, the dealer must provide that. Simply go back to the dealer and explain the problem. They have the forms there to generate a duplicate. If they refuse to issue a temporary registration for your new vehicle, then call the police and report them. Do this from the dealer lot, so the police can deal with this while you are present. No dealer wants this kind of negative attention…
