How do I use the Dropbox 1TB deal effectively with an external hard drive and a roving laptop?

The issue with having your Dropbox folder on a non-system drive is that if the Dropbox folder disappears, to Dropbox software it appears that you have deleted all files and it will proceed to delete all your files in the cloud and all other linked Dropboxes. The solution is to have the Dropbox software on the same drive as the Dropbox folder. Dropbox software can only run if your drive is mounted. On a Mac:In Dropbox, Preferences, turn off “Start on system startup”.In Dropbox, Preferences, Account, click “Unlink this Dropbox...”Quit Dropbox.Move your Dropbox folder to the external HDD with permissions intact. If you don't know what that means, Carbon Copy Cloner will do that.Move your Dropbox Application from /Applications to your external HDD.Launch Dropbox from the external HDD.Enter your account info and specify custom location to external HDD. Dropbox will re-link all your files, which may take a while. The only caveat really is that this solution may require you to launch the Dropbox software manually after the drive has mounted, hence the need to remove it from your start-up. If your external drive mounts BEFORE your login items start then you can obviously have it launch automatically at login.

If I "uninstall all" on an Xbox One game, does it delete my save data, or is it saved in the cloud, ready to reinstall with the game?

Three years into the life cycle of the Xbox One, storage space has become a valuable commodity. The base model’s 500GB drive doesn’t seem quite so spacious when your “Ready to Install” list is packed with AAA games that can take up more than 50GB, and almost double that if you’re downloading 4K-compatible games on an Xbox One X.Unless you’ve invested in an external drive to increase your console’s storage capacity, you’ve probably experienced the feeling that comes when you’re forced to delete one of your games to make room for another. If not, the first time can be a harrowing — and confusing — experience. To help you out, we’ve assembled this handy guide on how to delete and re-install your content. It won’t make picking which games to eradicate from your drive any easier, but it will tell you which buttons to press to do so.Step 1From the Xbox One home screen, press the Xbox button to bring up the dashboard, then select the “My Games & Apps” tile.Step 2Highlight the tile of the game you’d like to remove from your hard drive and press the Menu button on your controller. (That’s the Start button, for most players.)Step 3Select “Manage Game” from the pop-up menu that appears.Step 4The next screen is divided into two parts. On the left, you’ll see each piece of content related to the game in question, listed under “Installed” or “Ready to install.” From the left side of the screen, you can also manage any saved data that exists for the selected game.On the right, you’ll see some details about the game, including its file size and a link to the game’s page in the Xbox Store. You can choose to move the data if you have another storage device connected, copy it, or uninstall it entirely. Choose “Uninstall all,” and the game will be removed from your hard drive.Reinstalling deleted gamesIf you want to re-install a deleted game, head back to the “My Games & Apps” screen. On the left, you should see “Ready to Install (X)”, with “X” signifying the number of games and apps you own that aren’t currently installed on your hard drive. Selecting a game or application will automatically begin the installation process, assuming you have enough space on your console. On the left side of the screen, you’ll also now see a “Games With Gold”…Continue Reading

If you delete Fortnite, do you keep your progress after reinstalling it?

Deleting Fortnite is not the same as deleting your account. Imagine it like uninstalling chrome. Your google account is still there, you just don’t have the application. The same goes for the Epic Games launcher. Your account remains, you simply lose the application. If you choose to reinstall Fortnite, you can simply log back into your account and resume where you left off.

For playing GTA4/5, one must have a rockstar games social club account to login and play the game. For that one must create an account using his email I'd and other personal details at rockstar official website. If you already have a rockstar account and purchased a GTA 5 game using that account, then it must be available for you to play the game in any machine irrespective of uninstalling it because the game is register to your rockstar account permanently. You can play and uninstall the game n number of times as you'll be downloading a digital copy available at rockstar's servers and no need to worry about losing the game. There's no need for buying a new game. I think this should help you.

On Xbox One, can I pause a game download, turn off the console, and resume from where I left off in some other time?

Bill Hitchens’ answer provides excellent details. Yes, you can pause a download, or just turn off the console. Downloads are very resilient and recover just fine from power loss or network drops. We recognize the time involved in downloading games can be large, so the Xbox can almost always resume from where it left off.Note that if you pause a download through the Pause menu command Xbox treats that as a request to stop downloading from you. Paused items don’t start downloading again until you resume them or you launch the game. There is no need to pause a download before shutting down the console.
