there should be an ask link on their page. if not take their url, for example: username.tumblr.com and and rewrite it to be username.tumblr.com/ask. also make sure their ask box is turned on. when you get to the asking part, click anonymous. some users don't let anons ask questions so if that's the case, you're out of luck. good luck. :)

People can choose not to allow others to send them questions anonymously. If you can't ask someone a question on anon, then they've probably turned the option off on their blog. There's nothing you can do about that. There's also a 10 ask rule on tumblr: you can only send ten asks per hour, and only 5 of those can be anonymous. So that might be part of your problem too if you're sending a lot of messages in a short amount of time.

The purpose of being anonymous is so that no one knows who you are. Therefore no, there is no way of knowing who is asking the questions. I wouldn't concern myself with it though because if they are asking themselves questions, they just want attention that you don't have to give to them. If they really do have more followers than you, then it still doesn't concern you because having more or less followers than someone else isn't the point of having a blog in my opinion.
