One Crafty Mother How To Do

What is the difference between art and craft?

Art vs CraftMost people do not see any difference between art and craft as they are both considered to be forms of creativity. Let’s consider how art and craft differ.Art is a form of work that is the expression of emotions. Craft is a form of work, which results in a tangible output, for example, moulding and carving.Art is often described as unstructured and open ended. It has no limitations of expression, just like in painting. Craft on the other hand is structured, which means that it has a certain form that is visible. While Craft can be quantified, this is more difficult to do with art.  Another thing that can be seen is that one can create duplicate craft forms, which is not possible with art. It can also be seen that art forms move people on an emotional level whereas crafts attract people. For example, a piece of painting can create emotions in a person whereas a piece of jewellery or pottery can be an attraction.Unlike craft, art is known to come out of the heart and soul. Crafts come out of the mind and need considerable practise to come out with world-class forms.Art is a result of a person’s innate talents whereas skill in craft can be acquired with experience. Craft forms can be called skilled forms. In craft, more practical thought is needed whereas in Art, it is the emotions that make a perfect creation. Art is more related to aesthetics.A craftsman will have an idea about what he wants to actually make. In art, it is the emotions that flow out, whereas in craft, no emotion is involved.Pottery, metal works, glass works and jewellery are some examples of craft works. Painting, architecture and sculpture are examples of art forms.SummaryArt is a form of work that expresses emotions and expressions. What to do with.....buttons? get crafty!?

There are a number of different things to do with those buttons. One of the easiest things would be to decorate a picture frame with them. Use them in combination with craft rhinestones, ribbon and lacing. They can also be used to string jewellery, such as a bracelet, necklace, earrings and brooches. Use them to decorate a cushion by placing them artistically on the face of the cushion, or even using them as a decorative cushion cover closure. You could edge a pillow case or a set of curtains with them. Decorate a pair of floppies or sandals. I would even make a ring with a button or two. I think a beaded curtain made from buttons would be fabulous! A combination of buttons and beads would look great! Glue them to the outside of a glass vase or flower pot. You could string them onto long strands of ribbon of various lengths and attach bells or glass chimes to end of the ribbons to make a wind chime. The ideas are endless. I am sure I have just mentioned a few and with a bit more time and imagination would think of all kinds of things to do with them. When I searched "button crafts" on google, there were a lot of suggestions, too many to list here, so give that a try too.

What can be done CRAFTY with the little pink spoons that come in the SWEET N LOW boxes. We buy 3-4 of these?

Save them and tie them to baby girls gifts or they can be decorated with flowers and attached to a gift tag.

You could tie them to a babyfood jar filled with fairy dust for little girls( they would use the spoon to get the glitter out).
or you could turn them into a bunny by glueing wiggly eyes, a nose ( pompom) and whiskers and a little bowtie
Have fun with them.

Is it possible to make money at craft sales or flea markets selling handmade goods?

Okay, so I have a little talent. You may think it's only VERY little. I can knit. I can whip up adorable mittens in a couple of hours, knit socks, make cute beaded and wire-work jewelry, etc.

Does anyone ever REALLY make any money at craft fairs? My feeling on the matter is that unless you get your supplies for wholesale, you're unlikely to even recoup the cost of your materials (yarn, sterling wire, etc.).

I'm not looking to get rich. Just pay for my materials and maybe make enough for a few Christmas gifts or to support my continued creative habits. People continue to DO this type of thing, so someone must make SOME money out of it. Is there a secret to this? Certain things or price ranges that sell like hot cakes?

I'm very curious about this!! Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

How will you overcome a mother in law that is so talkative?

“One of the greatest diseases is to be nobody to anybody.” - Mother Teresa?

the first one means that if you have not earned/or been given love. a place of honor, or status then you will be S.O.L. in this world.

the second would seam to say that if we all act fake in our daily lives then the way we go about it can be a window into who we really are.

these are just my guesses though

What do 33rd degree masons know that 3rd degree masons do not?

In proper, Blue Lodge or Craft Masonry there are only 3 degrees: Entered Apprentice, Fellow Craft, and Master Mason. However, upon being raised to the sublime degree of Master Mason, a Mason is eligible to join various Masonic "bodies" or "appendant orders". They are not Freemasonry, but they are what you might call "add-ons" or "sequels" to the Masonic journey, and a man who wishes to join must first be a Master Mason. This includes the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, which originated in France. Why is it called Scottish? Hey, nobody knows. It has nothing to do with aliens or Satan, though, let me assure you.  However, the Scottish Rite is a series of 29  one-act plays or "degrees" combined with some elaborate and beautiful ceremonies (no goats are sacrificed. Sorry, Conspiracy theorists).....and these degrees convey moral lessons. I won't reveal the secrets of these degrees, but one of them is based on a true story of three chaplains aborad a naval destroyer during WW2. The ship was hit by a torpedo and started to sink. There wasn't enough room or life jackets for everyone so these three chaplains gave up their spots on the life boat and their lifejackets to three sailors. They went down with the ship saying the Lord's Prayer. The 33rd degree is not even a degree. It's an honorary award given to a Mason who has devoted many years and service to the Fraternity, and who has been a credit to it. For instance, the actor Ernest Borgnine was a 33rd ("Mermaid Man" from Spongebob...he was also in that great film with Lee Marvin, "The Emperor of the North"....and another classic film, "Marty"). A friend of mine and Lodge Brother was recently awarded the 33rd degree for his many years of service to Scottish Rite Masonry. I could also tell you that there really is nothing all that astonishing or mysterious about this stuff, but the conspiracy nuts would not believe me and spread their silliness anyway. In any case, I hope I've answered your question adequately and I wish you much good fortune.
