Opinion Of Heat Fans Leaving Arena

What is your reaction to Kevin Durant joining the Golden State Warriors?

Respect.I'm surprised because I didn't give him the respect that I had thought I was giving him. Meaning that I figured he would not be able to give up on the idea of winning where he was the leader of the team. I thought he had too much of an ego for that but I never thought of him as a selfish or egotistical person/player. His attitude was my favorite thing about him. He loves his mom and seems like a great person. This move proves that he has his eyes on the prize and is willing to ignore egotistical considerations to achieve it. That is commendable. When it is a has been who is not really going to be big part of the team (T-Mac on the Spurs), it is kind of sad. But when it is the 3rd best player in the NBA it is something different. Some people would claim that this stance is hypocritical because of Lebron's move in 2010, but it is not. I wasn't mad that Lebron left Cleveland. We all knew he was going to leave. But the way in which he did it showed so little class that is typical for someone who used to yell “King James!” Every time he dunked in high school and signed a $90 million Nike contract before he played a game. It fed into the narrative of a spoiled millionaire athlete. He said he was “going to take my talents to South Beach” and the Heat don't play in South Beach, they play in Miami but the American Airlines Arena is not in Miami Beach, it is in Miami proper. And that is a cocky way of saying it. He should have called his coach, GM and/or owner before and told them before he told the world on TV. It's great that he raised money for charity but there are lots of ways to do it that isn't insulting to the fans who love you so much.Lebron also went to join a team that was clearly going to be his team. It was all about him, for KD it is all about winning.I think I would have preferred him to stay in OKC for at least 1 year, but I don't mind this move. Now GSW needs to get Pau Gasol to replace Bogut.

1408 ending. Interpretations? (Spoiler alert)?

I watched 1408 last weekend and loved it. If this is what happens when Stephen King retires to write screenplays, I'm all for it. I'm a big fan of his. However, I haven't read the short story this is based on, so I don't know how 'adapted' it was for the movie. I have a hard time settling on what the ending means. Does the room win? Does it follow him in the tape recorder? His expression is hard to read. I'd like others' ideas on what exactly happened.

What is the top 5 worst "Go Away Heat" in wrestling history?

I just talked to some friends about Taker/Edge feud in 2008 and they agreed so many people look down on the feud today because Vickie's presence that received an enormous amount of go away heat and stole the thunder from both men.

Well, I'm no expert in wrestling history. But what would be the top 5 most horrendous go away heat the business as a whole, not just WWE, has ever seen?

Why is it that people regard tennis as a 'wussy' sport, and american football as a 'manly' spor?

I agree with you 100% all the way. You have to remember that in sport, arts, music, television - in fact any aspect of entertainment - there will be things which appeal to the masses, despite not being the best, the most interesting, or the most skillful.

In the UK, football (soccer) is the be all and end all of sport. Rugby and cricket get a mention when the national teams are doing well, and Tennis is only mentioned when Andy Murray features. People in Britain (largely) seem to think the first 6 months of the year are spent preparing for Wimbledon and the next 6 months are spent recovering from it. Try to talk to most people about the Rotterdam open, and the difference between 250, 500 and 1000 tournaments and eyes glaze over.

Tennis is something that not everyone can appreciate. Some cannot understand the effort involved, the skill, the tactics and the sheer gruelling nature of the tennis tour for both men and women. And frankly, I am happy for these knuckleheads not to be involved.

As for thoughts on whether tennis is 'wussy', this is the age-old belief that anything involving finesse or deftness of touch must not be masculine - usually reserved for ballet, ice-skating and any other (unmanly pursuits). Well, consider this...

Team sports are easy to hide people who are weak. If a player in a team is poor, then yes it may be noticed, but it can be hidden within the overall team performance. When a tennis player steps out to a Wimbledon final, he has nowhere to hide. His errors are his alone, and playing in front of a packed arena, without anyone to talk to, totally on his own - that to me is the definition of NOT being a wuss.
