Why was Osama Bin Laden given shelter in Pakistan?
I don't know why, but there are some facts that are very interesting:Pakistan Army probably knew about the raid. People say that it cordoned off the area and cut off the power supply before the raid.The U.S raiding team stopped halfway in Tarbela, which has an SSG Commandoes unit present besides the regular troops stationed there. It is unlikely that the presence of the U.S Navy Seals team was not noticed since it is a sensitive location.(It has a huge dam which produces significant amount of energy in the country)There was no way army didn't know the presence of OBL. They knew.Saudi Arabia didn't want OBL captured because he will then reveal the involvement of the royal family in numerous acts of terrorism. Note also the recent revelation that some members were involved in 9/11 attacks. Also Pakistan is a very close ally of Saudi Arabia.It is also clear that if Pakistan's involvement in the raid was officially acknowledged, it will face a backlash from the various terrorist groups present in Pakistan. There would have been more suicide bombings in crowded places, more attacks on government and military installations. Denial of any involvement, in UAV strikes in FATA targeting Pakistan Taliban, was also the policy of Pakistan (Even though we knew our leaders privately approved thanks to Wikileaks)EDIT: This is only my opinion after doing some reading about this topic.
