Opinions On The Divergent Series Or New Movie

Did the fourth movie of the series Divergent flop?

Considering the poor performances of the third installment, Allegiant, at the box office, the production company contemplated the option to make the fourth film direct-to-tv. They also want to bring new characters to the story which would continue into a spin-off TV Series moving beyond the books. In September 2016, Shailene Woodley officially announced she would not be reprising her role as Tris in the future productions. She was followed by mostly every lead actors of the original cast who also announced they wouldn’t be coming back. Hence, the TV Movie made out of Ascendant will most likely feature a cast entirely composed of new actors. These new cast members are also gonna be the one associated with the spin-off TV Series projectIn February 2017, the producers confirmed that it would be a television project and that Woodley wouldn’t be part of it.In August 2017, Starz and Lionsgate Television announced that they were beginning to develop the TV series.

Who is Edgar in the Divergent series?

I recently finished the trilogy and I follow the movie cast on Twitter and I saw that they casted Edgar for the Insurgent movie. I don't remember a Edgar in the books. Help?

I'M OBSESSED WITH DIVERGENT!?!?!?

Dear gawd. . . you failed to mention SPOILER ALERT!!! uuuggghhhh. . . I've read the first two and need to reread them as there were so many characters mentioned in the beginning of the book, I forgot who they were. Now, you tell me that. Curses!!

The movie is coming out in March. Here is the link. Check it out and see if the cast fits your mental picture.

Don't do that anymore. It really sucks.

Divergent vs the hunger games book?

Divergent has been released in the states. I read it about a year ago and have already ordered a copy of Insurgent, to be released in the beginning of May.

I don't hold Hunger Games as a yardstick to measure others of the same genre. I choose to evaluate every other dystopian/post apocalyptic young adult novel on its own. I value Hunger Games as the gateway book that turned my non-reading 15 year old into a 16 year old book lover. But when I consider it in relation to the others of the genre, it's not one of my favorites.

I much preferred the story in Divergent. It was not as slow to start. I liked the world that had been created. I preferred Tris, as a person, to Katniss. The romance aspects of Divergent were much less a part of the story, which has a huge appeal for me. There was more action, more training, more understanding of the whys in Tris' world.

I've read quite a few dystopian/post apocalyptic novels for both adults and young adults, before and after Hunger Games. Suzanne Collins wrote an enjoyable book, but she didn't create anything new. The genre has been around for a very long time.

I also really enjoyed Enclave by Ann Aguirre, The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness, Blood Red Road by Moira Young, Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi, The Hungry City Chronicles by Phillip Reeve, Life as We Knew It by Susan Beth Pfeffer, The Secret Under My Skin by Janet McNaughton, Uglies by Scott Westerfeld, The Adoration of Jenna Fox by Mark K Pearson, The Giver by Lois Lowry, Shadow CHildren by Margaret Peterson Haddix, City of Ember by Jeanne DuPrau, Gone by Michael Grant and Unwind by Neal Shusterman. There are another dozen or so YA titles that I didn't care for (Matched by Ally Condie, Delirium by Lauren Oliver, The Eleventh Plague by Jeff Hirsch, Wither by Lauren Destefano and Bumped by Megan McCafferty top that list).

I guess I simply don't feel a need to compare one book to another. There are enough differences to make it interesting and new, while still maintaining placement in the dystopian/post apocalytic genre, which I love. Besides, I read almost constantly. If I spent time comparing one to another, I'd have less time to read. :)
