Opinions On These Uni

What is your opinion of Walden University?

I posted this once before and was immediately warned by a couple of people that my post would be pulled because Walden University complains directly to companies that allow negative press about them. Well, I didn't listen and it did get pulled.

But please, please, please Yahoo Answers, I think that this question deserves to stay as I'm sure that I'm not the only one who wants to know the answer.

My company offers tuition reimbursement for attending an accredited school, but I really don't have time for conventional classes. I did some searching online and found a number of online schools, but most of them have more negative things said about them than positive. The most credible one looks to be Walden University, but even the users of Urban Dictionary (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Walden%20University) slam them as being a hack school.

I'm just looking for somewhere to get an MBA to advance my career and pick up some more knowledge. So has anyone ever had any experience with Walden University, are they really considered the community college of online, and will I get laughed at for attending there?

Anyone have opinions on University of Phoenix?

I am in the midst of enrolling in online classes through university of phoenix. I will be starting as a JR as i have completed my associates already. Then someone told me that they have heard bad things about this university and that their degrees arent accepted anywhere around here (NY). From the research I have been able to do I have only found them to be accredited and worthwhile but I want to get some second opinions before I spend all this money on a degree. SO what have you heard both bad or good?

What is your opinion about the MBA in University of Kentucky?

I am sure the UK MBA is just as fine as any from a major university. However why not try your hand at some market research. Make inquiries into the jobs the UK MBA’s have a few years out. This is probably the best indicator. Did it put these people on a different tier of life and the job market? Here are some additional comments you may wish to contemplate..In my experience, MBA’s are valued by organizations that like to have people with a lot of degrees on their staff. These tend to be government or quasi-government or natural monopoly organizations, e.g. large power companies. Of the several private companies I have worked for and with, the MBA did not seem to mean a lot to them.Others suggest that it is the connections one makes to other students during studies that later turn into business relationships that are the biggest value. Yes this does occur. If you are all 20 somethings with time to get to know each other, then yes. If the class is all part timers with family and job demands, then no.I have always thought and seen that the MBA is valuable for people who had no background in basic business, e.g. head nurses. I had some business courses as an undergrad, so they were a lot of refreshers for me.After a couple of decades considering this issue, my conclusion is the MBA is just fine for teaching technical subjects, e.g. accounting, finance, statistics. However for teaching the nature of people the MBA is probably shallow. For one, this is a hard subject to teach. Secondly, they try to teach case studies which are quick and straightforward, students like them, but I have not felt I or others got much out of those. What I found to be a lot more insightful than the MBA was just personal study of non-fiction subjects. Greek history from the days of the Athenian democracy are really insightful into the brilliance and foolishness of people. The study of Greek history and broad reading and study in non-fiction subjects has been a lot more satisfactory education to me than the MBA. Non-fiction book clubs would likely prove a good use of time and a social outlet as well.

What is your opinion on the article by the Texas State University newspaper titled "Your DNA is an abomination" demonizing white Americans?

I personally loved it. And I’m a white (or as Coates would say, a person who believes themselves to be white), privileged, middle class woman. And in spite of my identity qualifying me for one oppressed minority group (women), I can’t pretend that I understand what it’s like to exist as a person of color in the United States. Those who say “what if it were a white person who wrote this about blacks” are forgetting the fact that blacks and other people of color have endured centuries of oppression, subjugation, and abuse at the hands of white. If white history mirrored black history, it may be a legitimate comparison. But it doesn’t. So that queshion is ridiculous. The vast majority of human dna is shared, so much that there really is zero difference between races. Race is a social construct. The author is well aware of this, and the title is 1.) A message that whites have given to people of color through history (so he is saying “how do YOU like it?” ; and 2.) pointing out that because of this shared DNA, the statement is in no way actually offensive. It is ignorance that allows people to be offended by such a statement. It’s not an offensive statement because he knows that if whites have abominable dna, so do people of color.I think he’s very clever. He’s using whites own tool of oppression to explain our placement on the social hierarchy. It’s very late and I’m not being as articulate as I’d like to be. Maybe I’ll edit my answer when I’m more coherent. Overall, I loved the piece. Loved the justifiable anger. Loved the cleverness. Loved the message. When ARE white people going to start listening to and really hearing the messages from people of color? Change won’t come peacefully until we do. The fact that there was such a negative backlash for such a powerful and intelligent article saddens me. I really enjoyed it. I think this man is a great writer, and I wish he’d gotten the positive response he deserved for such a admirable and intelligent piece of work.

*Honest* opinions on Academy of Art University in SF?

Hello world! (or yahoo answers, at least)

I've applied to Academy of Art University in San Francisco for Fall of 2010 (and obviously got accepted.. Thank you open door policy!) .. I've done LOTS of research, and I really do like the school from what I see. However, some bad reviews have thrown me off, like the whole "Yeah, AAU just cares for your money", and all the usual crap.

So I'm just asking for honest opinions from current students on these following topics:
- Is it true that the drop out rate is really high because most of them (the drop outs) are slackers and can't take the work load?
- How are the people there like? Professors, students, etc..
- Any thing to say about the *Photography* program? Or anything I should know?
- My mother says I would be better off at somewhere like Santa Clara University and even SJSU (because she has never heard of AAU and she thinks the open door policy points out that it's a bad school since it's so easy to get in)
- Would it be more worth it to find an apartment than stay in the dorms? (It is pretty pricey, after all..)
- And of course the most important question of all: Is the tuition really worth it? My parents can afford it, but it's still a lot of money..

Sorry for all the questions, but I just wanted to be 100% sure..
(also then I won't have to waste all my time and energy applying to other colleges :P)

What are your opinions about the current protest in the Central University of Rajasthan?

It’s great that you citizens of democratic country, are aware of your rights.I am very happy knowing that you all are proving democracy in India very well by protesting…..But……… …..Have you ever thought about your duties???? Is there a single protester among you who have ever raised voice to aware University students about their duties??????You are fighting to wash out corruption from University staff, then why are you not fighting to remove corruption from students???Many of you don’t go to classes but they got attendence…because they have very good friends…. nice, plzzzz tell me is this not a corruption????Your great leader said that if we are not able to bring a change in a university of 4×4 campus then you can’t bring a change anywhere…… ever.Plzzz tell me…..is removal of corruption a only way of bringing change????Why not throwing the students who are used to take GANJHA, SHRAB, GUTKHA…etc out of our university???You are demanding for a resticated student’s entry in university because education is his fundamental right. One more thing you plzz tell me…how many of you tried to know the actual reason behind restiction of the student ….for ever.If students use this way…..strike to fulfill their demands…..then what illiterate people should do?????You have named your protest…”SAVE CURAJ”.. my dear i think you are making CURAJ unsafe…..now. do you know that you protesters have bring our University from 34th to 153th rank….. amazing ….what a reputation you ….students have given to your university!!!!

Opinions of these universities? (Suffolk, temple, pace)?

I'm valedictorian of my class but I'm not going to be able to afford very expensive, high quality schools so I applied to lower standard ones that I believe I could get good scholarships for. I just want some people's opinions on these schools' academic value.

Girls/Guys Opinions? Approaching people at Uni/Colledge.?

I'd say go for it, as I'd personally be down for it -- if you're really being genuine.

I also will say that you shouldn't expect anything -- just because you're talking to them, don't expect them to respond or keep conversation with you.

If you're okay with that, and won't get angry or feel bad when a girl isn't in the mood to talk and you're genuinely just trying to talk to people then I'd say there's nothing wrong with that.

There is something wrong with commenting that I look sexy, or hot, or anything that in the workplace could be sexual abuse -- but if you're saying how you like the band that my shirt is advertising, then that's alright.

TLDR; I don't approach, but have been, and if they're laid back/not trying too hard to get my number then we're fine to just talk.
It's weird if they expect something from me when we start talking. If you want to talk, then talk -- don't get sad or push hard for my number.
