Orphanage In Need Of Shoes

Poorest and most needy orphanage in the world?

For my birthday I want everyone that comes to my party to bring an item like shoes or old clothes or something that I can send to an orphanage in the world. I want to know what orphanages are in need of what items so I can choose one to donate stuff to.

How to look like an orphan?

It'd help to know which era they play is set in. Think about having to take care of yourself and not having much money. So your hair is out your eyes but probably tangled and dirty. Your clothes are old, in poor repair and mismatched. Your shoes are either the wrong size or you don't have any. You can't afford heating so you probably have a shawl or something like that. You probably have a bag you carry about at all times which has all your important possessions.

What are the best gifts you can give to kids in orphanage?

I would say you should check with the Orphanage first and ask them what do they allow and not allow as there are so many different ages you would not want to bring certain items. But generally Board Games for all ages, Sports Equipment, Reading Material suitable for kids, if they have computers, some Games or Small, low cost, Computers. What about good School Supplies, New Clothes, Shoes, etc.But again, check first so you do not get what they will not let the kids have. Also check on age groups, are they a male or female only or a mix? How much can you afford? They may ask you donate money instead. Before you would do this, check to be certain they are a very good and legitimate organization, some are not quite as good as others. Make some on line research, phone calls to government agencies as viable.

What are the best items I can donate to an orphanage with children below the age of 5 years?

Ask the orphanage what items are needed. One of the more heart-breaking lessons given on the television show “M.A.S.H.” was when one of the doctors gave chocolate to the orphanage director, intending it to be a treat for the children. The doctor was outraged to later learn that the director had sold it on the black market, and then mortified to learn that the money from it was enough to buy that month’s food, so much that the children would not go hungry. He didn’t know beforehand what challenges the director was facing.Every country has its own troubles, every orphanage has its own needs.Ask, so you may give.

What did orphans wear in the 1930s ?

lots of patches...

How much do people generally donate to a kids orphanage?

How much do people generally donate to a kids orphanage? There are no orphanages in the United States, so the only people donating are doing so through organized programs like Save the Children. Only a few individuals have the contacts necessary to directly donate to a specific foreign orphanage. Most of those offer donors the ability to make a very small monthly donation (such as $19/month) which goes into the general fund where it is combined with all the other $19/month donations. Many Americans also send material donations (not money - they send stuff) to soldiers serving overseas who have contact with orphanages. We will send clothing, shoes, books, toiletries, and even non-perishable food. There are several groups that organize these projects, as well.

What would orphans in an orphanage wear? Do they have specific clothes to themselves or are the donated clothes shared around?

It depends on the age of the children in our home, but after the nursery they get their own clothes. They have their own cubbies and lockers with locks on them to be able to store their own clothes.Sorry if the rest of this answer sounds rude. This is not against anyone personally. As of what kind of clothes they wear: we get a lot of donations, but most of our clothes are bought anyways, and many of the donations are brought to thrift stores. In our orphanage, we buy most of our children’s clothes. Some of their clothes are from donations, but not most. It’s not from a lack of donations; it’s from a lack of useful donations. This is going to sound snobby, but most of what people donate to us are used clothes, to the point where people would never let their own kids wear them anymore, so they drop them on us. This is not useful. We are not a thrift store. If you ever want to donate clothes to an orphanage, ask yourself this: “would I give this to my own kids?” If the answer is no, then bring it to the Salvation Army instead. The thought, “it is good enough for orphans,” shouldn’t exist. Our kids deserve to wear presentable clothes as well. They don’t have to be name brand, or “top of the line,” but they need to be nice.Think about this; if you died in a car accident today, and your children ended up in an orphanage, wouldn’t you want people to give them the best quality possible? So would we, and these are our kids. This is why we end up buying most of their clothes; because we can, and we want them to know that they are worth it.

AVERAGE shoe size/shirt size/pant size for AVERAGE 12 year old boy?

I am shopping for a 12 year old boy who is on the smaller side, and have no information of his measurements as I am shopping for a child from a Russian orphanAge, Russian children tend to be smaller all around in comparison to US children. What is the average shoe size, shirt size, and pants size for a 12 year old boy? And should I be buying men's size shoes or boy's? I have found all these horrible sizing charts on the net, please help!!!

Do you remember learning to tie your shoes?

I do actually, I never had shoes until I came to America. We were bare foot in the orphanage and before the orphanage. I didn't mind going without shoes, I didn't know anything better.I was given sandals first and then later I was given a pair of tennis shoes/sneakers. The person that adopted me did not show me how to tie them, she put me in a room and threw the shoes down and told me I couldn't leave until they were tied.I of course started crying. I had no clue how to tie shoe laces let alone seeing these for the first time. Eventually my older sister came looking for me and she asked what I was doing and I told her what was instructed. She showed me by tying one shoe and I did the other after watching her closely. I had to learn fast. Still to this day I am not a fan of sneakers, only for the gym but I enjoy my heels, my danskos, or going bare foot in the sand :)It was not the ideal way to learn but either way its a blessing, be grateful for every lesson good or bad. It’s always good to give back, when you see children, even adults without shoes and they walk miles everyday. Shoes don't cost much when you look at how much we are willing to pay for a latte’ at popular coffee place (which I am guilty of doing in the fall). You can always donate shoes new or used. There are always sales going on.You never know that one small act of kindness can have a magnificent ripple affect for years to come. Always pay it forward. <3
