Our Toilet Is Busted And Leaking

Can you still flush the toilet if my hot water heater broke?

yes, unless you have your cold water turned off to repair your hot water tank which you shouldn't because there should be a Valve right next to the hot water tank you turn off

How do I fix a toilet?

You need to put the details of exactly what you mean by broken for anyone to tell you how to fix it. These questions may help pinpoint the problem, but you have to write which things apply. Is the toilet itself busted? The bowl part? If so where, and how did it break? Is the tank behind the seat broken, the actual ceramic of the tank, so the water leaks out cracks? If so, where, top, bottom, sides?Does the flush lever not cause it to flush when you press it down? Look in the tank. Is the flush lever rod connected to the chain that pulls the flapper bulb up?If there is a rod from the flush lever to a bulb that floats in the tank? There should be a tube that fills with water and a place the water leaves into the toilet bowl, are these obstructed? Is the toilet plugged and overflowing?Google “repairing a toilet” and look for You Tube videos that you can watch, now that you’ve seen what type flush system it has in it.There may be a type of flush system I don’t know about. So, look inside the tank so you will recognize the system you have and watch videos that apply to that type.Or call someone who does plumbing for a living and pay them to come fix your toilet.

How to fix a water tank leaking from bottom?

#1. Emty the water tank;#2. Wait until the tank is dry enough;#3. Enlarge the hall. Make it at least larger than a crack;#4. Rub it with a sandglass and make it skratchy;#5. Buy from any auto-services a special glue-kit. Ask for EPOXIDIC Glue. It is composed by two “mud” or “clay” bars which are active substances A and B. Mix them together manually untill they become malleable and put a little chunck in that hall. Ta-daaaaa !Short story:I once broken my crankcase in a top of a mountain. I was disperate. Somebody helped me with this idea and it worked. It was New Years Eve so I had to empty the car’s crankcase, made a small fire pit under the car to bring it to 20 C degrees, and prepare the composite. I fixed it, I filled the crankcase with new oil and I had that car for years…. and even sold it. It works well.Good luck.

Bathroom ceiling leaking AGAIN?

Our bathroom ceiling is leaking AGAIN, and Idk what to do other than put things under the drips to catch the water. Every time we tell our landlord about the water he comes up with a reason for it leaking but never actually tries to fix it. All this started about last year when an elbow pipe had burst and started leaking everywhere, the problem was fixed but the drop ceiling was destroyed (again, landlord never attempted to repair it. the metal tracks are busted) so it's been going on for a while and now it's really getting tiring. I'm no expert but the original ceiling (above the drop ceiling) looks pretty damaged and i doubt it's supposed to look like this.

My parents never want to ask the landlord about repairing it because they're the "grin and bear it" types, but I'm moving out soon and I worry if this doesn't get taken care of then it's gonna cause more damage.

How do i fix a leaky fire sprinkler pipe?

You didn't mention if this is a steel pipe system, or an orange plastic pipe system. In any case, you have to be licensed by the fire marshal in most places to work on a life safety sprinkler system. I'll give you an answer anyways, though.
If it is a steel pipe system (what we call a '13' system in the building industry) and the drip is at an elbow on the end of the run you may be able to give the head a quarter turn tighter with a pipe wrench. If it isn't at the end of the run you will have to turn the water system off (which may mean getting a permit or permission from the fire department, which you won't get without a license), and take apart several pipes to get to the one leaking., then fix the leak and put it all back together.
If it is a plastic pipe system (usually an orange CPVC, known as a 13D or 13R system) you won't be able to do anything without turning off the water, again, requiring a license. Assuming you get the water off without a license, you have to fix the pipe with identical pipe and fittings from the same manufacturer with the proper dark orange glue, and you guessed it, you have to have a license to buy it.
If you are in an apt. or condo building this is something that is usually covered under your tenant association dues, and every sprinkler system in every building I have ever worked in has annual inspections and repairs that have to be done regularly. Your best bet is to contact the company that does the inspections and let them make the repairs.
There is another possibility, though, and that is that the leak isn't in the sprinkler system. If your neighbor turned off his water but not the sprinkler water, and other water pipes run through the vicinity of the leak, that it is another pipe leaking and the leak is running down the sprinkler pipe. In that case you just have to track down the leak and fix it.

Help our hot water heater leaked and ruined our laminate flooring Will our homeowners insurance pay?

Yes. BUT, be sure and call your insurance company before you call someone out to clean up the mess if it's too big for you to handle. We didn't know any better one time and it was 10 at night and my toilet overflowed for a long time and we didn't know it of course, and had to call someone to suck all the water out. It was about an inch deep all over the bedrooms and hallway. This company over charged us and my insurance wouldn't pay their whole part because of it.

I dream about dirty toilets and bathrooms and toilets overflowing what does it mean?

I dream that I’m desperately searching for a place to poop and the toilet is either filthy or out of reach. Sometimes the toilet disappears or turns into a shower recess when I go to use it. I’ve been dreaming this regularly for about 3 years.I was told the dream represents a lack of privacy and the inability to let go of something that is troubling me because there isn’t a suitable or safe way of expressing myself. Also, the filthy condition of the toilet indicates the lack of a safe, comfortable person to reveal my innermost feelings and thoughts. A toilet that disappears or is impossible to reach represents instability in emotional support.I realised that the recurring dream was actually about my deep unhappiness and insecurities within my relationship.

If you break something in a hotel room, are you expected to pay for it?

Depends on the circumstances, the guest and their attitude. Several examples for you from the last 6 months in 4* hotels :Housekeeping enter room after guest checkout and find the solid wood wardrobe lying like matchwood in a pile - no I have no idea either but … chargecurtain hanging off rail - no charge and repairaluminium fixing rod on window that holds it half open, bent and buckled - chargebed and carpet covered in sh*t - chargebed full of vomit - chargelift covered in blood and broken mirror plus full of vomit - chargemirror broken, caused by room door being flung open with such force that the rubber stop on the floor is ripped out - discussion with guest…accident they say - no chargesmoking in room - chargeled tv screen cracked - chargewine stains on the wall - chargebroken shower support in unrenovated room - no chargegenerally we speak to the guest and charge if they can’t explain it but 90% of the time they check out without saying anything…that tells it’s own storyWe have a credit card, for guaranteeing against theft and damage, so we just take a ‘fair’ amount to cover costs of replacement, send an email and wait for the telephone call/email rant from the customer. We send the photographic evidence and ask how it happened and (seldom) refund the card or not.

My carpet got soaked with water. How do I get rid of the smell of mildew?

Water coming up through carpet in hallway :(?

In our last apartment, we had exactly this problem. The AC unit was in a closet and the hall ran along the closet wall. During times where the AC was run alot, the condensation would build from the AC unit and we would end up with a sopping wet carpet. Our apartment complex didn't fix it even though we told them alot. They didn't think it was a big deal. But, over time, we noticed a white edge to where the moisture was and the hall area started to smell musty. It definitely seems like it would be a dangerous situation for mold.

If it were me, I'd head down to Home Depot and ask at their help desk. I've run into weird little things like this and have found them very helpful. You can call them too. Any way, good luck. We moved because it seemed so gross and unhealthy, among other things too. Good luck.
