Pains In My Ankles And Feet

Can flat feet cause outer ankle pain?

Yes, they can. But it is important to remember that there could be many other reasons as well.Having flat feet means that your feet don’t move the way they’re supposed to; the lack of proper arches causes your feet to flatten completely on to the ground as you walk. This forces the foot-ankle structure to move beyond its normal range of motion, making you vulnerable to ankle pain and sprains. When your ankle rolls or twists abnormally, one of the ligaments supporting the ankle structure may get damaged. As a result, you might experience pain and discomfort while walking. In some cases, there may even be swelling in the region. The first line of treatment involves avoiding activities that will put more strain on the affected ankle. This allows the injured ligament to heal sufficiently. For any swelling, apply an ice pack 10–15 minutes every hour until it goes down.If left untreated, flat feet can cause more problems in the feet such as plantar fasciitis, metatarsalgia or bunions. One of the best methods of managing a flatfoot condition is using MASS4D® foot orthotics. These orthotics can be customised to suit your individual needs, taking into account your bodyweight, activity levels, foot structure and condition.By stabilising your arches and regulating foot movement, MASS4D® is able to promote normal functioning of the foot-ankle structure. This helps in minimising the incidences of ankle sprains.Read more about why MASS4D® is used in the treatment of ankle sprains here.

Pain in ankle when I point my foot?

This morning I woke up and my ankle was hurting. It's been bothering me all day, and it hurts to walk on a little bit. I elevated it and that seemed to help a little, but I never got around to icing it or anything.
My ankles get messed up every now and then, my mom says weak ankles run in the family. I'm a dancer so I don't know if I did anything in class that might have hurt it, but on Thursday night in my dance lesson everything was fine. It was this morning when it started to hurt.
It hurts when a lot of weight is put on it, or when I point my foot. It's like an aching, straining sort of pain. It hurts around the ankle bone, and a little bit back where my achilles tendon is.
I put on my ankle brace, which normally helps me and I can walk without pain, but this time it didn't do anything for me, and this pain somehow feels different then past times.
Normally when my ankle gets messed up it's only 2 to 5 days and then it's perfectly fine again.
Do you think I could have sprained it? What can I do for it other than trying to keep off it, icing it, and elevating it?
If it doesn't get better within a week I'll go to the doctor, but I'd like to avoid that if possible.
Thanks in advance!
