Pains In My Shins And Ankles When My Feet Are Cold

Why is my right ankle painful and swollen?

You should visit a qualified physician to find out the exact cause of the pain and the best method of treating it.You most likely have a sprained ankle, often caused by twisting or rolling your ankle in an unusual manner while walking. This often ends up damaging the ligaments supporting the ankle bones resulting in pain and discomfort in the region.Try laying off any activities that involve putting weight on the affected ankle in order to allow the injured ligament to heal and recover. For the swelling, application of an ice pack 10–15 minutes every hour should be helpful in bringing it down.If you’ve been spraining your ankle frequently, then try getting a foot evaluation done to determine if you have a flatfoot condition – that is, if your foot lacks a sufficient mid-curve.Once confirmed, then the regular use of MASS4D® foot orthotics can help in preventing ankle sprains by stabilising the foot arch and normalising the function of the foot/ankle complex.Read more about how MASS4D® can help in the treatment and prevention of ankle sprains here.

Is ankle pains after acl surgery normal?

It's completely normal (the ankle, and foot would most likely to be bruised after surgery too). the knee has many nerves and they are all connected. Since there are many of them, it is likely that he brushed against the nerves and everything. Your physiotherapy will hurt after surgery and that's completely normal (the more it hurts, the better). My whole leg had been in pain when i first started trying to walk and tried to bend my knee ( I kept it straight the whole time in recovery before physio so It was extremely painful to try and bend it).

Tip: Eat a pain killer before going to physio therapy, it won't hurt so you can do your best to get better at walking and gain your strength back.

How to get rid of heel pain?

It sounds like plantar fasciitis, inflammation of the connective tissue on the bottom of your foot. If that's indeed what it is then:

Stop pointing your toes when you sleep. Keep your feet in a neutral position as if you were standing on them while you are sleeping by using the sheets to stretch them into place. Massage, stretch, and strengthen your calf muscles. Warm up your calf muscles before you put your feet on the floor first thing in the morning by doing ankle pumps (flexing the top of your foot toward your shin) 30 times. Ice the bottoms of your feet once you're done with work or periodically throughout the day. Spray them with as cold of water as you can handle at the end of every shower.

If that doesn't work, find a reputable physical therapist or massage therapist who will help you address your plantar fasciitis pain.

Top of foot pain - feels like your shoes are tied too tight?

This happened to me, and I know it's quite painful.

It sounds like the muscles that dorsiflex your foot are working overtime and have become painful. The reason those muscles are working so hard is because the muscles on the back of your calf, the ones that plantarflex your foot, are comparatively too strong/tight. You need to stretch out the muscles on the back of your calf to stop the muscles on the top of your foot from hurting.

There are two stretches you should do: (1) lean against a wall and extend one foot behind you. Your heel should be on the ground. You should feel a stretch higher up in your calf. (2) From that same position, bend at the knees. Now the heel of the leg extended behind you should be off the ground. You should feel a stretch in about the middle of your calf. See the links below.

What exactly do shin splints feel like?

No questions, shin splints stink! No one knows where they come from, but some theories are the muscle running along the front of the tiba/fibia becomes inflammed, or the covering around the muscle (periosteum) becomes inflammed.

Symptoms of shin splints can range to mild discomfort along the front of the leg while exercising to severe tenderness on palpation, and difficulty walking. The pain is usually more of an ache, and can run from the tibial plateau almost to the ankle.

Treatment for shin splits is similar to other sports injuries: RICE

R--Rest. If you are having pain, stop exercising until you are pain-free. Continuing your exercise regimen can do further damage.

I--Ice. Either wrap a cold pack around your shins for 20 minutes several times a day, or try ice massage. Get those small paper bathroom cups and fill with water, then freeze. Once frozen, sitting on a towel massage your shin with the ice, tearing the cup as the ice melts.

C--Compression. You cover this step by tightly wrapping the ice pack or the ice massage

E--Elevation. Try elevating your legs on some pillows after icing.

You can also try over the counter antiinflammatories, like ibuprofen.

The best way to avoid shin splints is to ensure you have correct form when exercising, are wearing proper shoes, and haven't increased the intensity of your workout too quickly. Runners often get shin splints if they increase their weekly mileage too rapidly, or are running on a hard surface (Like concrete, which is 10x harder than asphalt)

Good luck, and I hope you feel better
