Is it legal to eat dog or cat meat in North Carolina?

The author complains that it is illegal to eat dog meat in the US, and I would assume the same applies to cats. Dogs and cats are companion animals, and as such should not be slaughtered for food. Just the thought upsets me. I feel the same way about horsemeat also. DOG MEAT TRADE CHINA - Why do they beat the dogs before eating them?
I wanna know why countries like China and Korea beat the dogs to death before killing them to eat? Why does it have to be in such a horrific way for an animal to experience before becoming meat?. I heard that China beats the dogs before killing them, and also they would put half a dozen dogs in one crate cage and all cramped before taking them to the slaughter house. I also heard that before the olympics, they took off the dogs and cats from the restaurant menus and put death camps all over the cities for stray dogs and cats. Why do Koreans eat dogs?
Well, first.. yes, girls eat dogs too... I'm not really sure why you asked... in fact, my cousin, (girl) LOVES gaegogi. I have tried it once or twice(when I was actually too young to even know what it was that I was eating,..) it tastes just like any other meat...I don't think it tastes any different from beef.... And... I don't know why Koreans started eating.. dogs, but....it's actually not that bad...Just try it.. I guess it does sort of sound.. gross?
