Physical Signs That Someone Has Pulled Multiple All-nighters

Do people know when you're high on meth?

Your friends from before can tell.Your mom can tell but she doesn’t want to, so she doesn’t look.Your friends from after can’t tell unless you stop sometimes. If you’re adhd you just seem normal. If you’re normal you seem like your wired. If you stay up multiple nights they can tell on day 3. Day 2 they think you had a rough night. If you are always talking and humming, or whistling, or singing and can’t stop they know.If you jack your jaw side to side as a nervous tick they know.If you grunt repeatedly and make sounds in between breaths and draw uneven, noisy, laborious breaths they know.If you don’t take your shoes off after work they know.If they see your heart thumping it’s beat on one of your neck muscles they know.If your house/garage/car gets taken apart often and not put fully back together they know.If you suddenly have watery eyes and a shiny complexion they know.If they see you suddenly become focused and passionate about a lengthy project and seem to have a tireless, limitless energy supply to stay locked in on it, when you should be warn out they might suspect it.When you seem to have lost track of time available to rest, and won’t shut yourself down at night (like a normal person would) it starts to get obvious. When you find that trying to play along to a song on a guitar seems to be more important than coming to bed, they lay in bed going over this list in their minds. When you suddenly start waking up at 4:30 to meditate, and say, “it’s the best, and most quiet time of day to do my best thinking” they’ll wonder why you went to bed at 1 a.m..When you can say it and look them in the eye for an unusually long period of time to show them you’re not lying, the look on the rest of your face says, “Do you believe me?”When they know you just got paid and they know how much things cost and you’re going out of your way to explain where your money is going, offering up details before they’re needed, they’ll wonder why you’re trying so hard to fill in the blanks. If they’ve done it for years and years and know all kinds, no matter what you try to do, they’ll probably know. They won’t go out of their way to find it. It’s just apparent to them.

I have to pull an all-nighter tonight, but I'm going to be tired at schol tomorrow?

you cant even drink green tea?? it is not bad as coffee... idk.. that would be the best advice..
anyway..
keep yourself hydrated
never study or do homework on your bed
put on soft music, and sit at your desk with all the lights on(The bright lights reflecting off the paper will keep you eyes more focused.)
keep the window open.. By doing so, you create airflow, which in turn keeps your body stimulated
if you know someone who would stay awake tonight, text him..(but make sure you only reply during the small breaks.. like after finishing a math problem)
Splash water in your face.
Open a bottle of nail polish remover or something with that kind of smell(The strong unpleasant fumes will prevent you from peacefully drifting off to sleep)

For people whose dog died naturally ie. not being put to sleep?

Hey,

We had a 16 year old collie cross spaniel, and when she fell ill I was in college and had only £30 a week. I begged my dad to take her to the vet but he didn't, saying they will only put her to sleep. To be honest I thought that would be the best. For over week I pulled all-nighters constantly so I could be there with her, I even made her things like Bovril and tried to get her to drink them and gave her my hot water bottle. She kept looking at me with her big, sad brown eyes. And you know people say animal eyes are the window to their soul? It is so true. It was almost like I could see her screaming for help. It was heartbreaking.

I spent so much time with her then crying while hugging her that when my mum came to my room one morning saying she had died I expected it and was numb. When my dad carried her outside to bury her I just stroked her head one last time and put her favourite squeaky hedgehog into the grave with her. It was red and blue, she used to come running whenenver I squeaked it. :o)

Is she had just suddenly died I would have broken down in tears immediatly, she was such a good dog and I had known her for almost 16 years and loved her to bits. She only bit me twice and it was my fault anyway.

Sorry for reminiscing so much...

Here's a video I made of her anyway. If you are interested!

What are the most common hallucinations from sleep deprivation?

I know this question is quite old, but I’d thought I share my experience…A couple years ago, I got hooked to gaming, (please don’t judge). I used to pull all-nighters with my buddies everyday. After a 2–4 days of doing this, I had noticed that my feeling of ‘sleepiness’ had gone away. (and so I found no need to sleep as I didn’t feel tired)This meant that even in the morning, I couldn’t sleep, (even if I had actually tried). One night, I had come home from getting some things from the store, and turned on my TV and Xbox as I had planned to play. As I sat down on my recliner, I saw something black in the corner of my right eye, (looked like a 4ft tall being with a long article of clothing that was down to the floor). Please keep in mind that the only source of light my my TV, and the LED’s on the Xbox, so it was difficult to see. When I took a quick glance at it, the figure then darted into my kitchen. They didn’t walk, run. It just “fled”. There was no visible arms, or legs. Just a head and a body. I got up to investigate (naturally you would as you’d want to find out if someone had broken into your house) and found nothing in my kitchen. I went back to my game, and from that point on, the night was as usual…When the sun came up, I went to go feed my cats (they like to meow and act all cute as a signal for me to feed ‘em) and as I took out their dishes, I saw something out my kitchen window. (my kitchen faces my driveway so I can see down the entire road) And I saw what looked like a ‘all-black’ being just, moving down my driveway. (Not walking, just MOVING, and my driveway is curved downwards as my house is on a hill). That’s when I knew something was going on and that I had a problem. So I took 2 antibiotics to help me sleep (not the best move, I know). And from that moment on, I haven’t seen such a ‘figure’ again…TL,DR: ‘Shadow people’ are the most common. But please, don’t deprive yourself of sleep on purpose, it isn’t healthy. When you sleep, your body ‘repairs’ itself and gets ready for the next day. It’s not good to interrupt this process.

Has anyone ever died from lack of sleep?

You definitely should relax and stop trying to sleep. Your anxiety is causing your insomnia.“Lately I’ve been sleeping too much”. You see, you can sleep.About five years ago I was working 20 hours every day, 7 days a week. Yes, you read that correctly. I wanted to finish a big project on time, and I was fighting not to fall asleep until 4am, to finally sleep an hour or two before I resumed work. And I did that for months! One night, around 3am, my heart started racing over 150 beats per minute. I remember saying to myself “Ok, I think maybe I should go to bed now and get some sleep. That’s a clear warning”. But unfortunately it came too late.I experienced more tachycardias in the following days, and they lasted longer. After a few months, they were almost permanent. Now try to go to sleep with a heart racing at 160bpm. It’s impossible, no matter how much sleep pills you can swallow. Then my tachycardia became atrial fibrillation, which is much worse and dangerous. I was on beta-blockers, but my heart was now beating 200bpm 24 hours a day.Falling asleep was impossible as I said. Antidepressants, beta-blockers, anxiolytics, nothing could put me asleep with a heart racing like it was going to explode. So at night, when my family was going to bed, I comfortably sit on the couch, open the Tv, and put on a pair of headphones so I did not hear my heart racing. I watched tv all night until sunrise, and then resume my daily activities.I did that for a year. Yes, I did not sleep for a whole year. If I did, I do not recall. I’ll spare you my state of mind. Yes I had suicidal thoughts. I’m glad I had a family, otherwise I would never been able to go through this. Finally, I was fortunate enough to receive a catheter ablation, which completely cured me. I gradually resumed sleeping the following months. Can someone die from lack of sleep? Yes. There’s a rare genetic condition called fatal familial insomnia, that causes progressively worsening sleeplessness. Difficulty sleeping turns into total insomnia, leading to physical and mental deterioration. Sooner or later, you die. But that’s not your case.Long story short, if I survived almost 12 months without sleep, I wouldn’t worry too much about missing a night or two. Most of all, stop trying to fall asleep. When you try, you get anxious, and anxiety is exactly what causes your insomnia.Good night!

I feel like sleep is a waste of time. What are your thoughts?

Maybe not a "waste of time" because even when I'm awake I do nothing productive, but I feel like I'm not living when I sleep. Like I'm 14 right now, but I've actually only been aware of my surroundings and active for about 7 years. I find that kind of sad. I pull all nighters a lot. Usually a few times a week. It's just that I feel so frustrated before I sleep, like I'm about to live 8 hours or so and not even be aware of it. You know how you go to sleep when you're really tired and once you close your eyes, you open them in what seems like a second later but it has actually been multiple hours? I don't like that. I don't like the fact that I have just lived multiple hours without even realizing it. Imagine you wake up one morning and you are 20 years older than you were when you went to sleep. That's how I feel like when I wake up in the morning. I apologize if this sounds really dumb and this ended up being a lot longer than I planned but I'm curious to what others have to say about this topic?

What will happen if I don't sleep for 2 days?

Humans are not supposed to pull two all-nighters.When you don't sleeep for 24 hours you are equivalent to a drunk person. Do you think being drunk keeps you in line ?But when you don't sleep straight for 48 hours things even get worse. You will face problems with memory. Not only mental but also muscle memory. You will forget where you kept money, you will forget what you eat, you might even misplce things dangerously. This will definitely hurt you physically. Now you are on a drive. You will not hear horns as your complete attention is on the visual sense. This leads to accident. You will now wish if you could sleep but you will be now dealing with a terrible headache. Now in your way to bed you will be experiencing most weirdest experience (mentally). Some how you manage to sleep 6 or 7 hours. Now, the headache, if not gone will be hampering your daily routine. Even after the sleep you will not recover. You will be recovering but slowly, on a day by day basis. Some might take 3 days some might take 7. Depends on your sleeping pattern. Now you must deal with the consequences. Misplaced things. Missed meetings. Angry family. And yes you have lost almost a week before exams. That is very dangerous academically. If you do this in the exam week then surely you will screw up as you will lose your attention. If you do all nighters usually it would not afftect a great deal but as a newbie you will regret this decision entire week or month.
