Physics Honours From Hansraj College And Want To Usa For M.sc

Can I get into Hindu College at DU for a B.Sc in stats (hons.) if I got 95% in PCM?

See cut offs are dependent upon the applications received and then the 2.2x number of seats available. This resultant figure is basically the lowest rank of a person who can apply. And then, the persons marks are served as cutoff.Second of all, cutoffs may also be decided with internal discussion of the college department for that respective subject.For95%, I cannot comment whether you will be able to get Hindu in the first list itself, but stay hopeful. The best guess I can give is that you might get it in the 4/5th cut-off list.

Which is better for physics honors: hansraj, hindu or miranda house?

The faculty of Miranada is good but if you want a co-education college,Hansraj/Hindu will be better. Faculty didn't differ much, you will get some of the best professors of India in all three colleges. Give priorities to your choice. All the Best!

Do the DU colleges like Hans Raj, etc. accept best of four marks for boards in B.Sc hons?

Most B.Sc. courses like Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, Botany, etc. consider the score of PCM/PCB and not best of four. Some other courses like Computer Science, Mathematics and Statistics, etc. consider best of four which must include Maths and one language subject. Some other courses might have some specific requirement too, for that please check DU’s website. All the best.

Which college is better for physics Honours: Hindu or Hansraj?

Hansraj College is basically a Science College. It has all the courses of Science stream offered by the University at the undergraduate level. Anthropology is present only in Hansraj College. We have the best Science faculty in the University. So, I strongly suggest you to go to Hansraj for Physics Honors.Hindu College is better for Humanities and Commerce, but not for Sciences.

Which is better for a B.Sc (hons.) in chemistry, St. Stephens College or Hindu College? Please answer with reference to fee structures and teachers.

I will try to give a balanced picture of both the institutions to you. I may not know as much about Hindu college as I do about St. Stephen’s so the answer may look a little biased, which I will try to keep minimum.I think you should not be very concerned about fee structure. Though St.Stephen’s charges higher than other DU colleges, it’s worth it. The green, clean and tranquil campus speaks for itself. It’s not that high right now (20k or something per semester I gave). As for the teachers (addressed as ‘senior members’), they are among the best in the university. There’ s much more focus on academics (we are never taught according to DU syllabus, taught a lot more than that in general) than anywhere else.(try getting a class cancelled/mass bunk done, I will personally treat you xD). If academic rigour and thorough practical training is your top priority, Stephen’s is a good bet. This in no way means Hindu is any less, as the faculty there is also very renowned (You will know ex-Prof at Hindu College, Prof KL Kapoor immediately after joining the course, as his books are widely followed across DU). Hindu also has a well developed cultural network with societies like Ibtida and fests like Mecca being key words in DU dictionary. Though Stephen’s has around 40 vibrant societies working on this or that event all the time, the fact remains: St.Stephen’s is much more like a closed family not open to DU in most cases).Stephen’s has a greater advantage when it comes to apply abroad. Consider the fact that every year Stephanian Chem graduates go to world’s top universities like Cambridge, Yale, Oxford on scholarship for further studies. This isn’t true of any other institution. But when it comes to DU examinations, University toppers are more often non-Stephanians (in many cases, Hinduites).Overall development is a top priority for Stephanians and you will see real time Science conversations happening. At last I think you should know, whatever college you choose, you will have to put in personal efforts to shine big in your career. All the best!

On what basis is admission made into DU B.Sc. math (Hons.) course? Which college is good for this course?

It depends on the college you wish to apply to. All colleges except St. Stephens College will consider you based on your PCM score in Class 12th examination. A cutoff list will be prepared based on the seats available. Generally there are around 4–5 cutoff lists to fill up all the seats in mathematics. However for colleges like Hindu, Hansraj, LSR, Miranda, Ramjas the seats get filled up by 2nd–3rd list itself. However the process is different at St. Stephens. At Stephens your Best Four Subjects( BFS) will be considered and NOT PCM. Your BFS should include Mathematics as one of the subjects (obviously). In my case I had Maths,Chemistry, English, Biology. I had intentionally excluded Physics. The reason being, my PCM was just 95% wheres as my BCM was 97.66%.But the Class 12th score is only good enough to get you shortlisted for the interview round. Generally for a class of 40–50 students around 300–350 students get shortlisted. There are no subsequent cutoff lists. Only one cutoff list. If you clear the interview your are eligible for admission.During BSc Mathematics at DU, the major courses that you will get to study are:Real AnalysisComplex AnalysisAlgebra: Groups, Rings and FieldsNumerical AnalysisDifferential EquationsPartial Differential EquationsDiscrete MathematicsCalculus, Vector AnalysisLinear AlgebraProbability Theory and StatisticsGame TheoryLinear ProgrammingApart from that you get to learn mathematical softwares like - Mathematica, wxMaximaBesides that you also get to choose one optional subject per semester. I had taken up Physics, Physics practical , Philosophy, Economics and English Literature. Thus you get a wider exposure to different areas both science and humanities.Best of Luck!

Which are the best DU colleges accepting only PCM marks for honours?

DU colleges take admissions based on best of 4 subjects. Assuming that you are asking about the science courses, I will mention the top few colleges of DU. St. Stephens college, Hansraj College, Hindu college,  Keshav Mahavidyalaya, Sri Venkateshwara college. It would be better if you mention the course you want to take. Some of the colleges consider best of 3 for few courses. For example, Hansraj College considers only best of 3 including maths for BSc (H) CS. All the best!!!
