Pick A Name For A Boy

What is the best way to pick a name for a newborn child?

Think of names or people that have appealed to you throughout your life. I started collecting names for future children when I was a child and then again when my future husband and I started dating. What happens if I can’t pick a name for my newborn?

The nurses will “strong arm” you before you ever leave the hospital. They are really good at it too! Before my son was born we could think of almost no boys’ names that we liked. My husband and I joked around about naming our son Thelonious, after Thelonious Monk, a musician we both admired. But neither of us really liked the name. I made fun of it!We had a middle name because we both admired my husband's uncle. But a first name was elusive. With 6 ultrasounds screaming “girl”, we had a tidy list of girls names we liked and figured boys names really weren't an issue. But, you know Murphy's Law, the universe has a great sense of humor. “It's a boy” reverberated through the maternity ward. But, due to complications at birth, my son and I spent an extra 5 days in the hospital and during that time he was known as “baby boy x last name”.Because my son was premature, work that we started in our house was not done, and so the family spent their time working on our house and not visiting the hospital. I was full of painkillers and anti-anxiety meds and had no head to think of new names. So, the day we were to be discharged the nurses cornered me. We could not leave the hospital without a name for the birth certificate. They were brutal and badgered me until I blurted “Thelonious”. And that is how a baby gets named!Thankfully that name has served my son well for the last 19 years. He rocks the name like he was born to it. I think his only regret about “Thelonious” was that his first grade teacher loved the name and repeated it often. But everyone else calls him Theo.Don't worry, your baby will have a name even if the nurses have to sit on you to squeeze a name out of you!

Boy/girl sibling set baby name combinations - pick your favorite!?

For BRONTE, I would prefer the middle name Spencer James, just because I adore the name James [seeing as that's my boyfriends name] and I think it flows the best.
I don't necessarily love the name Spencer, but Bronte Spencer James flows right off the tongue. However, I would consider the surname that would be in use, and then go from there.
I would rate Bronte Spencer James an 8/10.
My next choice for a middle name would've been Bronte Isaac, I still can't tell whether I prefer Bronte Spencer James or Bronte Isaac.

For ISAAC, I would choose the name James. And no, not because I am biased, I adore the name Lachlan too. I just think the two "k" sounds in the name clash a bit, where Isaac James flows nicely. I would give it a 9/10.

For ARCHER, I would choose Archer Landon, seeing as I think there needs to be a 2 or 3 syllable name after Archer.
I'd give it an 8/10.

For HARLOW, I would choose Harlow Isla Claire, because again, I think the two middle names accompany Harlow well and flow quite nicely. Again, I would keep in mind the surname, just to make sure it sounds good. However, I think Harlow Lilah Claire would sound even nicer.
Harlow Isla Claire-- 9/10.

For THALIA, I would choose Rose Marie, but instead just do Thalia Rosemarie, since they just go together in any case. I think a multiple syllable middle name would work best with Thalia. 8/10

For TAHLIA, I would choose Indigo, just because I think Tahlia Indigo flows nicely. 8/10

...I do not like October Harlow in the least for a baby girl.

As for your pronunciations, I was always under the impression that BRONTE was pronounced BRON-TAY. But to each their own, I guess.
And I was never aware that Thalia and Tahlia we're pronounced differently.

My favorite boys combination out of them all is ARCHER LANDON, but if I could mix them around, I would definitely choose Archer James.

My favorite girls combination out of them all would definitely be Harlow Isla Claire, but if I could change something, I would make it Harlow Lilah Claire.

Sib-set:
Harlow Lilah, Archer Landon & Isaac Lachlan.
[just to go with the "L" middle name first initial seeing as it had worked for Harlow and Archer and it sounded the best together]

Can a girl use a boy's saint name for confirmation?

As a Catholic, who was my nephew's confirmation Sponsor just 2 years ago...

YES, your confirmation name can be a guys.. the only people who may care are your Confirmation class mates. -- But if you are OK with that... then go for it.

You have the right idea. The point is to find a Saint that you personally identify with, which can serve as a role model. That you HOPE to emulate, or at least keep in mind as you grow and mature in your faith.

As others are pointing out... there are OTHER Saints who were actors, but if you identify with Genesuis beyond simply being an actor.. then by all means, go with that.

http://saints.sqpn.com/saint-vitus/ - St. Vitus the dancer. Patron Saint of Dancers, Protection against Storms and the condition known as "St. Vitus Dance" (medically known as "Chorea")

http://saints.sqpn.com/saint-pelagia-the... - St. Pelagia the Hermit. Former stripper/dancer who converted to Christianity. Lived the rest of her life as a hermit wearing men's clothes.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genesius_of...
Actor who use to mock Christians, and baptism. During one of the performances, had a vision which converted him and he refused to mock Christianity, which got him arrested, tortured, and beheaded by the Emperor's men.

SO... if you choose Genesius, it should not merely be, because he is an actor.. and you like acting.. but because either you had a conversion, yourself, or use to mock things you didn't understand, or wish you had the courage and strength to stand up for what you believe no matter what.
Those would ALL be great reasons to choose Genesius.
