Piercing Your Own Ears.

Can you die from piercing your own ear ?

no.... but you could get infected.
I wouldn't recommend you pierce your ear.

How risky is piercing your own ears?

Professional piercers use sterile needles. Piercing guns do the job quickly and studs are included in the price. I have four lobe piercings on each ear and I could not have spaced the holes out as evenly as a piercer could. They measure and mark the spot to pierce. As for any off lobe piercings like cartilage, etc, I would not do those myself as that's an area of the ear that is fragile and not fleshy like the lobes. All my piercings have taken months to heal and problems when taking the starters out at 6 weeks. I would have had worse problems if i'd done them myself.

What are the risks of piercing your own ears?

Water doesn't sterilize, only an autoclave does. You should get to a doctor for antibiotics ASAP as a precaution.

Swelling is normal. The harness is scar tissue from you piercing yourself with a dull earring. Don't try to say it was one of those pointed ones - as those are also very dull when compared to a proper piercing needle.

Also, watch your ears don't engulf the jewelry. Ear piercing studs tend to suck for the healing as they aren't very long and the butterfly backing collects germs. They're also typically a poor quality - watch for an allergic reaction if you have metal sensitivities.

The people on here aren't kidding when they say you can die. It's extremely rare and lobes are pretty resilient, but the worst outcome of self piercing can be death from a nasty infection that spreads.

Pierce your own ears?

First off does it hurt to pierce your own ears? Second if i do how do you disinfect and make sure what your piercing your ear with is clean? And third is it really bad to do to yourself i mean should i just wait until I can get the time to go out and get them pierced? I would like though more answers on like how to do it or if it is really harmful.

How do you pierce your own ear?

I did that in my younger years. First make sure that where you are placing the piercings is even. Measure the lobe for placement. I used a stainless steel sewing. needle large and sterilized it by boiling it in water and wiping with alcohol. 90% pure. I used ice cubes front and back of lobe to numb it. Hold them there until you can't feel any thing. Once numb press needle through the lobe. After needle has gone through the lobe insert the earring. It MUST be a high quality earring like 14k gold or a piercing earring from one of the local piercing places. Purchas a bottle of the cleaner used by the piercing places or use hydrogen peroxide and clean the piercing several times daily until it is fully healed. If infection sets in see your doctor for advice.

How much does piercing your own ear hurt?

The lower earlobe doesn't hurt that much. As long as you use a sterile needle, keep your ears clean afterwards, and put in sterling silver (or another precious metal type earring in) and keep it in for about 6 weeks before changing it you should be ok. Nickle and cheap crap like that can cause an infection. I pierced the top of my ear myself and it turned out good. It hurt a lot worse than yours will though because of where it is.

Piercing your own ears painlessly?

Piercing your own ears can be easier than you think. I just did mine last night and I'm only 14. It was my 2nd hole on both ears. My parents are doctors so I first:

1) Got the 1st AID kit. I got gloves, alcohol (not the drinking kind), and cotton balls.
2) I got my mom's long, sharp sewing needle.
3) Then I put on the gloves.
4) I boiled the sewing needle in hot hot hot boiling water for about 5 minutes. Then, with the gloves on, I took it out and held the needle to the stove flame for about a minute. That cleans the needle. Then I placed it directly from there onto a clean piece of paper towel.
5) I got a bag of ice for numbing my ear and went to my room.
6) Sat down and numbed my ear for about 5 minutes, I didn't do too long because piercing did not really hurt me.
7) I doused the needle in alcohol and wiped it with a clean cotton ball. Make sure you have the stud earrings you want to go in your ear handy as well and douse them and the back to it in alcohol too. KEEP YOUR GLOVES ON!
8) I made a mark with the marker where I wanted both earrings to go and then took the needle and SLOWLY pierced. DO NOT stop. Go through as much as you can. You should feel a slight pinch but not any pain. Make sure you slide the WHOLE needle through and pull it out through the other newly pierced end.
9) Quickly place your earring in and put on the back. Voila! Your done.
10) Now all you have to do is keep it in, don't take it out or mess with it with different earrings. Just turn it occasionally and apply alcohol on your ear every day, maybe twice a day.

It's free, easy, and painless (for me, lol.) I might do it again!

What is the best way to pierce your own ears?

well you will need a few supplies:
-a trusted friend
-two apple slices
-2 steralized sharp needles
-ice cube or other numbing agent
-permanent marker

steps
1) make marks of where the holes will be
2) numb up the area
3) have your helper hold the apple behind the ears area to be pierced
4) brace yourself, hold still, and let her stab through with the STERILIZED needle.
5) put the earring in and repeat on the other side.

OR......

you can sometimes find a kit at drug store that comes with a piercing "gun".

i would recommend the kit but either way should work fine.
