I am going to give you a very easy way. You wont even have to install any apps and would love it if you have a decent net speed. Android ICS boot animation problems?

I have a rooted Pantech Marauder running Android 4.0.3 ICS.

In the system/media folder, I tried to replace the bootanimation.zip file with a custom bootanimation.zip file using ES File Explorer.
However, I got a response saying that the file is read-only.
So I went into its properties and tried to change the permissions, but it was denied.

So I tried using Rom Toolbox Lite's boot animation installer and it successfully installed the animation.
But, when I tried rebooting, all I got was a black screen. After a little while, as long as it would take to boot up, the phone finished booting up to the home screen and I had no trouble using the phone after that.

Since a custom one didn't work, I tried reverting back to the original boot animation, which I had backed up, and it worked perfectly fine when I rebooted.

How do I use a custom boot animation at this point?
I read somewhere about flashing and custom ROMs and what-not, but I am not familiar with the terms (still somewhat a beginner).

What are the best Windows netbooks you ever used in terms of weight and battery life?

Agreed with Deepak Kumar. I haven't yet had any hands-on experience with the Carbon X1, but Lenovo has been the elite Windows netbook choice for years now with the Thinkpad series.  The Dell XPS 13 Ultrabook is also great, everyone agrees. Almost enough to make me take Dell seriously. However, when you are shopping in the $1.5-2k range on a netbook/ultrabook, you simply cannot ignore a MacBook Air. BootCamp any version of Windows you prefer, and now you have both worlds in one extremely durable and superbly engineered machine.  And in this arena, *gasp!!!* the Apple is actually the same or even less money than the competition.

Can a Droid Incredible be used on the T-mobile network?

My iPod just died and my PDA is 5 years old... I NEED A NEW DEVICE! I don't want a data package (an extra $30/month) or a new 2/year contract, I just want a great WiFi capable phone that I can run a few apps on and listen to music from. So, being a TMob customer, can I use the SIM card from TMob if I buy the phone outright from Amazon or Verizon, at full retail? If I can, are there things I should be aware of? Things I should watch out for? Thanks!

Does anyone else think the iPhone is too simple?

I have an iPhone 4 jailbroken and I feel like the is is too simple and boring there's supposedly 350000 apps on app store but most of them are junk there's not much good apps except the games and social apps etc but those are on android too and I also feel like I'm missing out on stuff like flash player there's frash for iPhone but it's laggy and crashes and freezes just not good and missing out on hdmi for movies and stuff and video calling on 3G/4g there's an app so u can FaceTime on 3G but it's slow and freezes most of the time and the retina display isnt that great i borrowed my cousins droid x and even though it doesn't have retina I liked the screen better it is bigger and just feels better also it's so hard playing shooter games on an iPhone like nova modern combat etc.. Also u can't put an sd card u can't move jailbreak widgets around wherever u like and it Is laggy when u put live wallpapers on an iPhone and not on an android the ps1 emulator has horrible controls unlike android also iPhone is very limited a samsung galaxy s or any android phone with 1ghz snapdragon can be overclocked to 1.6 ghz the speed of a netbook also the android has expandable memory unlike my iPhone stuck with 16 gb I have to delete alot of apps just to have space for a ps1 game also u can't run Linux on iPhone 4 atleast not yet and it will take a while for Linux to run on iPhone 4 it Is only available for iPhone 2g/3g and iPod touch 1g while android can also it's open source which means u can run homebrew and stuff also android will have playstation suite which will bring ps1 and psn games to android I can play ps1 games on my iPhone but still the emulator needs alot of work and the one that's coming to android is made by Sony so it will run faster better controls and everything and higher compability also dreamcast emu is coming to android which is awesome and there's already a ds emulator on the android market and I'm sure that with updates it will run so much faster so wat utink?

Does a notebook work the same and have the same functions as laptop?

A notebook and Laptop are the same thing. perhaps what your wondering is a NETbook vs. Laptop. If so, Netbooks tend to be much smaller (weight wise) meaning they also have longer battery lives. However, performance is somewhat limited. If you want to be using the laptop solely for school (i.e. Word, the internet or other everyday applications), a netbook may be better. However, Laptops are probably a better investment if you plan to be using it outside and after school. While they are more expensive, and heavier, they can do more. My school gave me a netbook and it was horrible. It was mostly because they had tried to cram the full Adobe Suite onto it and so it crashed twice a lesson. Also games like GTA or Halo would lag horribly on a netbook. But considering they are under $300, they are fine for just school and maybe flash games.

On price, its good to look at sites such as Dick Smith and JB Hi-Fi which can periodically have great specials

Acer, Hp, Toshiba and Asus are all good brands but the best way to find out what you need is by going in and asking the specialists. Having warranties are a good sign and make sure it has enough memory for everything you need (160GB is plenty for school). 2GB RAM is probably good as well.
