NHL playoffs First Round?
Easy wins -- 4 or 5 games: Buffalo sends the Isles home, Wings take out Calgary. Good bets: Devils over Tampa Bay, Rangers beat Atlanta, Nashville gets revenge on the Sharks (geez -- take a really good team and add Peter Forsberg...) 6-7 games, and as much guessing as anything after 1-2 games: Ottawa over Pittsburgh (in the playoffs, goalies are more important), Ducks beat the Wild (more scoring punch, especially on defense), Dallas over Vancouver (Turco is the hot goalie right now, coming back with a 35-shot shutout after losing in 4-OT) In the finals -- Nashville (beats Detroit after a tough series, when Hacek's old legs get tired) against Buffalo. Sabres win, they are the deepest team.

How does NFL playoff work? I'm confused.?
Yes the number 1 and number 2 seeds in the conference get a first round bye. They are the 2 with the best records so they earn it. The number 3 plays the last spot which is a wildcard number 6. The number 4 also a division winner like 3 plays number 5 also the first wildcard spot. After the first week the number 1 seed plays the lowest seeded team and the number 2 plays the higher seeded team. Sometime not always the number 1 not playing for that week gets out of synch. Last year the 2 first seeded teams the Giants and Titans got eliminated in the opening round. Furthermore the last time a number 1 seed won the Super Bowl was 2003 the Patriots over Carolina 32-29.
