When will the PlayStation 7 be released?

These are the release dates of the Sony consoles:Playstation = December 3rd, 1994;Playstation 2 = March 4th, 2000 = 1.918 days from PS1 (~5 years);Playstation 3 = November 11th, 2006 = 2.443 days from PS2 (~7 years);Playstation 4 = November 15th, 2013 = 2.561 days from PS3 (~7 years); So the average between releases is 2.307 days. Based on that, the next consoles, If the names do not change as well, would come up on the following dates:Playstation 5 = Would be released in March 10th, 2020;Playstation 6 = In July 4th, 2026;Playstation 7 = In October 28th, 2032;Sony consoles tend to focus more on hardware, increasing the Storage, Graphics and Memory, which does not mean that they do not update the system, interaction, and design of the consoles, mainly the Sony controllers, they are always evolving for the better, always innovating.Maybe the XrossMediaBar will no longer exist or will be quite evolved. Their OS is written in-house based on FreeBSD (Unix-like) and maybe they won’t change. The Graphics, always exceptional, there is no other console that can compete with the graphics of the Sony consoles, YET.

Can PlayStation 3 games be run (emulated?) on a PC? If yes, then what is the recommended way to do it?

We are living in an era of multi core and thread CPUs who possess tremendous power also GPU are too powerful and capable to do anything.while ps3 is a console which launch in late 2006.It's nearly 12 years old by now but, unfortunately there is no emulator available to run most of the best PS3 games on PC.It's because of PS3 weird and powerful architecture of CPU and operation. It's too hard to emulate it's processor to play PS3 games on Pc. Also you have noticed that PS4 and ps4 pro not come with backward compatibility and they are just remastering their best seller ps3 games on PS4 .I would suggest you if you want to play sony exclusive games then go buy a new Playstation. Its worth money.Google for emulator and run it on your high end pc in order to check result.Thank you

Does the PS3 slim 250GB have backwards compatibility on PS2 games?

http://answers.yahoo.com/search/search_a...
search is your friend. learn to use it!

the 40GB NEVER played PS2 games!!!!!!!!!!!!! quit telling people that it does!!!!!!!!!!!!

backward compatibility for the PS3 with PS2 games is as follows on NTSC systems:

20GB (4 USB slots, no longer in production) - yes
60GB (4 USB slots, no longer in production) - yes
80GB with 4 USB slots (no longer in production, bundled with MGS4 or Motor Storm) - yes
40GB (2 USB slots, no longer in production) - NO
80GB with 2 USB slots (no longer in production) - NO
160GB (2 USB slots, no longer in production) - NO
120GB/slim (2 USB slots) - NO
250GB/slim (2 USB slots) - NO
any other up coming PS3's - NO

PAL systems only have one backwards compatible system, and that's the 60GB.

in short: if it has 4 USB slots, yes. if it has 2 USB slots, no.

all PS3s play PS1 games.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlayStation...

the download that others are referring to is for the PS3s that already are backwards compatible. downloading it to a non-backwards compatible PS3 will do NOTHING but take up space on your hard drive! it will NOT make your PS3 play PS2 games!!!

"If a PLAYSTATION 3 is not backward compatible, you will not be able to add this function through any hardware (i.e., changing the hard disk drive) or software (i.e., updates, homebrew) upgrades or modifications. "
that came DIRECTLY from Sony's own website: http://playstation.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/...

and no, not all PS2 games or PS1 games will work. the 20GB and 60GB come the closest to being fully backwards compatible with PS2 games, but they still do not play 100% of those games or PS1 games. if you buy a backwards compatible PS3 and want to know which of your PS2 games work, check this link: http://www.us.playstation.com/Support/CompatibleStatus

Please insert a playstation or playstation 2 format disc. Swap Magic required?

it may just not be compatible to your ps2. once i bought memory manager plus for ps2. the cd worked on my ps2 but didnt work with my cousin's ps2. me and my cousin had diffrent models. i had an older version and he had a newer version. it could just depend on what type of ps2 you have. it could be like that because it wasnt officially made by SONY.

i also found some info in wikipedia that may help:

Swap Magic (abbreviated 'SMD') is a disc (available in CD and DVD formats) which allows users to play backed-up, copied, or foreign PlayStation 2 games on their PlayStation 2. Swap Magic is legal in the United States under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.

[edit] Methods of Swapping
There are many ways of enabling swapping. In original PlayStation 2 models, a "Slide Card" is available. The slide card is used to eject the disc without the console knowing. A fliptop method is also available for original PlayStation 2 models ranging from v4 to v10, where the cover of PlayStation 2 is replaced with a "fliptop" cover, which allows you to open the top of the PlayStation 2 (much like a Slim model PlayStation 2) and swap discs. The fliptop method is generally deemed a safer method of swapping compared to the slide card method.

For the newer, Slim PlayStation 2, there are different options, the fliptop option is still available for Slim models along with installation of a "Magic Switch" which allows the original lid to be opened without the system realizing it. More information about "Magic Switch" can be found on the SwapMagic3 Official Web Site

what type of model do you own. it also only works on ps2 model v4 to v10.

Metal Gear Solid 4 bundle for PS3 backward compatibility?

The MGS4 PS3 bundle will have the same backwards compatibility as the current US 80gb. It will play PS1 games and most PS2 games (around 80% compatible) because it will still have the same 80gb PS3 that is in stores now (they stopped selling them so that they could release new bundles with a new game and dual shock 3s).

For a basic summary of the MGS storyline you can read here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metal_Gear_...

For some reason they are out of order, but just read solid, solid 2, and solid 3 (you can read the individual wikipedia articles for more details). The story is pretty complex so you may just want to play all the games. They are releasing all the old games together later this year, and they're all pretty kickass.

Does the PlayStation 4 have a region lock in games?

Yes and no. From your question, I assume you're talking about physical copies (discs) but I will also address digital copies further below. The physical copies of games, as I write this, are not region-locked. This means you can buy a game from another side of the world and still be able to play it on your console. (Hooray for japanese games)The digital copies on the other hand are region-locked. As each region has their own laws regarding the content presented in some games. They can remove the games and their DLCs from their region's Playstation Store. You can easily overcome this problem by making an account of another region (using fake credentials). So there it is. Now go ahead and choose from the expanding library of PS4 games.P.S. Check out the free to play games on your store. They're worth it.

Can the Playstation 4 play older PS3 games?

The PS4 is not capable of backward compatibility. A PS3 disc inserted into the PS4 does not play at all. No third-party devices or hacks make this possible. Those who have PS3 games on disc must keep their PS3 to enjoy them.Alternatives to Backward CompatibilityAlthough backward compatibility is not an option with the PS4, there are still ways to play PS3 games on the newer console. Most methods cost additional money. They also do not allow gamers to use their disc or downloaded files.Games Available on Both SystemsWhen a new console appears on the market, some game companies release their games on both the older console and the newer console to bridge the gap. The games on the newer console typically have better graphics. In the case of the PS4/PS3, several games are available on both systems.UpgradesSome gamers can upgrade their games. If they own a PS3 copy of certain games, they can pay a small fee that allows them to download the PS4 version. That requires access to the PlayStation store. Upgrades are possible for both physical copies of the game as well as for digital downloads. For some games, this was an option available only during a small window around the launch of the PS4.EmulationThe most popular option for playing older games on the PS4 is emulation, the process of allowing a console or computer to duplicate the functions of a different console. For example, an emulation program on the PS4 makes it possible for the console to run programs designed for another piece of hardware. Emulation is not the same as backward compatibility. Emulator games for the PS4 come from the Gaikai system, available with the PS4. Gaikai is a cloud-based service that allows gamers to buy older games and play them on the PS4. Emulator systems do not necessarily include all games for a system, and each game requires a fee.
